WHEN firemen managed to bring him to safety, away from the family's burning building in Binondo, Manila, 25-year-old Elizalde Chua decided to go back.
Elizalde's body was the first to be recovered after a fire hit the Eliong Commercial building at No. 589 Quintin Paredes St. at 2:37 a.m. The fire was declared under control at 1:46 pm, almost 12 hours after it started.

That is the sort of thing that you will see in mayday situations when you run out of air.A short time after breathing smoke in extreme conditions your carboxy-haemogolobin levels with rise in your bloodstream which basically will impair your judgement similar to being drunk.And thats whe you see fire fighter starting to remove gear and lose thier training procedures.

OK..where do i start..WTF is the hose line doing out the window?! Why isnt he in full PPE?! annd that other ladder is definitly not at 70 degrees! and the guy is a pussy for bailing..

hose line out the window is an escape tool taught in most FF survival classes you use it like a pool and slide down if you dont have a ladder

Your criticizing him for bailing? You dont know what hte hell was going on up there the room could have flashed over. If I were you I'd get the facts right before opening your mouth. And he probably dropped some of his PPE so he could get down easier. How would you like climbing down a hose with all of your gear on?

Yeah, He thinks he is superman!!! Bad judgement call!!! Reminders to all firefighters, rescuers, Medics. We should always wear PPE all the time no exceptions!!!
