  • @xxlostxpuppyxx I'm sure its fine :) Glad the videos are helping! And it sounds like you are able to teach yourself stuff too!

  • i know this song by heart from school even though it was a few years go

  • i learned to play the recorder in my music class but i couldn't remember all those notes! and my music teacher had said all of us in the music class have to play recorder(ode to joy)the whole song all by ourselves,so i tried to find something that could help me! at last,i saw your video and started to followed everything you do! thanx you, very much! hold on.... can i asked you one question? umm.....did you says the notes yourselves or there's someone who helped you to says the notes....

  • Thank you...this was sooo helpful!!

  • do u have anything on how to play sharps and flats?

  • @THEMIGHTYNOOB45 Sharps and flats involve covering the holes half way. Do a search for "recorder fingering chart" and look for "images." You should come up with a few. Good luck!

  • why is it that when a recorder is new its sound is different? do i have to do something to make it sound like yours?

  • @frilodelphia Different brands sound different. This is the Peripole Angle halo recorder. I've tried a bunch, and I like the way this one sounds the best. You could also go with a wooden recorder, which is expensive, but sounds much nicer than the plastic ones.

  • i played this on the recorder in the 6th grade

  • i play a recorder were playing that in my class for graduation

  • how do you say the letters and play at the same time?

  • i always wondered what a recorder was

  • Thank you so much! :)

  • I do that with my class(7th

Grade Music) its really cool ! :) Thank you!

  • I did it with the notes you gave me and I added a second recorder

watch?v=xHZfT72aMMM that's the link to the video

hope you like it teacher ^^

  • way cool! the link didn't work for me but I clicked your name. Such talent! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • on AABG ABCBG ABCBA GAD wouldn't it be low d than high d?

  • I sung it with you with my own recorder!

  • Thank you so much, now I know how to play the song! And it was really nice that you explained the notes aswell. Thanks!

  • i can play that really good i learned to play the recorder in 5 th grade

  • i can play that really good i learned to play the recorder in 5 th grade

  • the notes are slower

  • i can play that on my violin lol =)

  • thanks for uploading this video! its the best! now i can FINNALLY get my green belt! thanks so much! (plz dont mind if finnally is spelled wrong!)

  • that really helped

  • The 3rd line is different for me. It goes

    'A A B G A B CB G A B C B A G A d B'

Lower case is for the low D.

  • can you do your next video slower it waz too fast

  • im playing this for the solo and onsamble (cant spell) next month with my freinds.

  • What kind of recorder do you prefer to play - wood, plastic, etc. Is there a certain quality that creates the best sound?

  • The sound is much warmer on a wooden recorder, but I use the plastic ones with students because they are affordable and don't break as easily. For the best sound, go with a wooden one. Otherwise, this peripole sound best for the plastic ones.

  • i learned it differently on the third line.

  • you're very good.but i use diffrent kind of recorder so it sound pretty diffrent.

  • and i doubt they would spend that much money on a instrument for little kids. but i havnt heard of a flutaphone are they any good? if they are i might talk to my school board about them

  • im a middle school teacher and i have them use band instruments but i have to. but i find that when they come to middle school after using a recorder they usually "under blow" on the bigger insturments but i guess we cant change that school boards will be school boards lol but i guess if i would use a instrument other then a recorder for younger kids i would use a clarinet cause it is pretty small and uses a reed the other one would be a saprano sax but not alot of schools buy saprano sax's

  • lol i was wondering why you were sort of slow that explains alot i was wondering why someone this good was slow ;) P.S do you share the same veiw as me that the recorder isnt a really good instrument to start kids off with? and if you are wondering why i think this is because if you over blow on the recorder it makes a real bad squeling noise and then after that the kids are scared to blow hard on their instruements

  • The squeaking is tough. I haven't found that it discourages the kids too much though. I think that with young kids, their fingers can be too skinny to easily cover the holes, and if they don't have fine motor skills, it can be frustrating for them. Do you do recorder with your kids? Have you found a better instrument? I've never used a "flutaphone" but some teachers use those.

  • you should try playing a oboe or a clarinet to boost your performance skills.....(not trolling just some music teachers advice) but really its clear that you practice and take a pride in music. so you should try to master a bigger instrument.

  • Ha! Actually, I'm a music teacher and my primary instrument is the flute. This is an instruction video, not a performance video, which is why it is so slow.

  • Thanks, altough this is a simple 'recorder lesson video' it helped me more than most video's! =D

  • i need my black belt still! thanks

  • what recorder is that, model ?

    tks,

  • peripole angle halo. I love it, and it was under $5.

  • thanks you been a real help...i can now play without any squeking :)

  • I PLAY WAY FASTER!BUT AWESOME

  • I'm glad you can play faster! This is an instructional video so I play it very slow.

  • Is 0:47 wrong?

  • yes. See other comments

  • thx this lesson

  • i cant even play it because i dont have my black belt yet

  • exactly, i learnt to play that music all by myself, i didnt know what notes to use so i just did it by trying to remember the song, and im glad i got it right!

  • i could play this on my recorder

    good luv it

  • that middle part is soooo hard for me. it took me ten days to finally get it right

  • Oh yeah, also wanted to tell you... The high D was driving me nuts because each time I played it - it didn't feel right. So then I'd start singing the song, wondering about the note. (Didn't stay with instruments but I did have 9 years of choir.) But then I read through the comments and found out why, lol. You had me guessing for a minute. :)

  • I've had a recorder sense I was in 4th grade but barely remember anything. Only remembered Mary Had a Little Lamb, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, & Amazing Grace. No clue on what which note was what. Just remembered where I placed my fingers to play each song, lol. Well, now I'm 28 & thought I'd check out YouTube to see if I could learn anything. Glad you had your first video to teach me each note - & a way to remember them. Also ~LOVE~ that you list the notes in your info. Thanks for the videos!

  • i played this song in third grade in roberts

  • LOL I COULD PLAY THIS IN 2ND GRADE!

  • i'm much faster than that ide show you but i got no sound on my webcam

  • OMG you can throw your voice while playing the recorder!! lol jks.

  • THANK YOU!

  • Thanks for the video. i learned it in 30mins pluse its one of my fav songs

  • i got a recorder and this is my favorite sheet of music to play i just love it

  • play it in all 12 keys.

  • I like it. It`s nice.

  • i got the same recorder :D but mom got mad >:( can you do me a favor ?

  • my sister gave me her alto recorder without even trying to learn how to play it... she's not much into music... i learned how to play the instrument on my own... i think one needs only to get acquanted with the instrument... by the way, ode to joy is one of the first i learned to play...

  • in im forht drabe and ere using recorders and no im GT.(gifted and talentied) and i dont ever fail in school

  • easy i will even post a video doing ode to joy tell me yes or no

  • it's kinda slow

  • i have to do the test on this in music. thats y i looked this up. but even tho u got in wrong, u still kno how to play. so everybody whos says it suppose to be a low d, just leave her alone cuz she knows wat shes doin!!!

  • how do you know she might not be playing she could have gotton it off the internet or something and then just fingerd it while it was playing!! SO BURNNNN

  • Actually, I just used imovie and overdubbed my voice :)

  • its a low d

  • my teacher said it can be a high d or a low d. we follow by low d cuz it sounds better and high d is ok

  • hey offensivepi do u go 2 the school ann arbor learning community? cuz we do recorder karate and pleez respond cuz i am positive that i know u my name is Izzy what is urs?

  • I found my old recorder but the bottom bit was missing. This song's good because it only requires the first three holes of your recorder. Really good teacher, easy to follow hole-by-hole. Great for beginners, like me...

    5*

  • one note is wrong u are supose to play a low d

  • i need to learn it that way. the longggggggggg way

  • guys i think she gets that its a low d. She said her students have not learned low d yet so she plays high. Did u read what she wrote. BTW We are playing this song in church on the last day of school. Only our grade is cause we are awesome!

  • why am i listening to this i already know how to play it

  • omg this is the final song we have to play one our recorders for school now i can cheat!!!

  • i already pass ed that but thx any way!!

  • I know at my school we're doing recorder karate this is the black belt

  • im playing da recorder and one of da D's dat u guys played was a high D and on my paper it says low D

  • Yes, a lot of people noticed I did a high D instead of a low D. The low D is correct. My students had not yet learned the low D when I made this video so I gave them the high D. For those of you who would like to use a low D, it is Thumb, and then 3 down on the top and 3 down on the bottom. "down D 3 and 3."

  • what kind of recoder do you have i have a angel sorprano

  • This is the peripole angle halo recorder. Soprano.

  • i have a peripole angel recorder with a halo hanger ^_^

  • I Have The Same Recorder As U LOL

  • you know when you play high d after the b-c-b parts if you played it lower d it woul sound way better but good job anyways

  • isnt the D supposed to be a LOWW D?

  • THATS WRONG! ONE OF THE NOTES IS WRONG! when its D in the 3rd sentence its supposed to be a LOW D!

  • sentence?

  • may she of learn that way

  • Ermione do filme ReliPoter??? kkkkk

  • I am going to guess you are requesting the Harry Potter theme? I'll check it out, but I suspect it has too many sharps and flats for beginners. Great tune though!

  • THANK U SO MUCH!

  • Awesome! How do you get the sound to be so clean?

  • Actually, the recorder was one of the first instruments women were ALLOWED to play because they could do it with their arms down. It was considered inappropriate for them to lift their arms I guess. This was a LONG time ago.

  • Thanks but I can play this a lot better on my ocarina :P I don't touch the recorder much any more.

  • Thats great! What songs can you play?

  • clarinet is such a manlier instrument

  • i learned it my teachear teached me

  • That was really good I play on my Mums recorder and i needed the tune

  • yeah i want to find one with high d on it because it throws me off without it

  • Hey i have the exact same recorder

  • I LOVE the peripole angel recorder. I have a bunch and its my favorite.

  • uhg i cant do this

  • Keep trying! Just work on one little part and then pause the video. There's no need to play through the whole song every time. Work on little parts and then you can put the whole thing together!

  • I need help on breathing because this song i cant breathe to good....

  • Do you run out of breath? The more you practice, the faster you will be able to play and the easier it will be to breathe.

  • You are right! I do the high D for my students sometimes because then you can do it all on the left hand.

  • I just learned Ode TO Joy for my school concert
