first off he never let it run on half choke at all. ans second I just got one last weekend and I ran it for an hour to let it loosen up a little bit, and then read the instructions on how to set the carb like it tells you to. And guess what it runs like a top, and starts every time from cold by doing the starting instructions. Its the operator not the saw.
@TheCivicguyd16 it just so happens that that saw was a display i got it half price it was alrdy messed with once i retuned it to specs evein had a shop look at it it was just one of theos saw thats happend TO BE A PAIN IN THE ASS TO START
@TheCivicguyd16 Ok so My poulan is basically the same one. I start it it will run for a minute or two tops then go off and apparently no one around here services Poulan chain saws. I brought it to a repair shop not knowing the shop only serviced Stihl products the guy looked at it said yea this things done, and gave me a Stihl brochure to look at.
same thing with my still chain saw 18 inch i just put a little gas on the spark plug and screw it back in and one pull and its fires up. and another thing every man does it different but try not to start it how u did by yanking the string they cut very easily. over all Great saw man
um i do believe your chain is a bit loose :S im really not one to talk, my homelite xl-1 sheared its tension nut (vibration?) so i just ran it with the bar bolts real tight. had about a half inch of play
I think your starting technique was fine (well, except for the flip-flops lol) but the chain brake was stuck. I noticed you did manipulate the brake handle a couple of times but it still didn't release, and therefore the saw couldn't rev up. Finally it broke loose and that's when the saw finally ran. Been through this with my Poulans many times, especially after they've been sitting for a long time.
Depending on ambient temps, Press primer-bulb specified # of times, turn ignition off, choke on full, throttle locked. Crank engine 3-4 times.
Choke off (warm weather) or choke partly off (cold weather), ignition on, crank until starts. Let run at fast idle for 20-30 sec., easing choke off as possible.
Also, when chain is hanging below bar like that, it _badly_ needs adjusting. Dull?
I've run a Poulan 2150 for 10 yrs, with nothing like this startup drama. Pvc fuel line sux; go for Tygon.
Yea I got me one of those poulan saws and I have to start the damn thing like that every time! But its my small saw, when I got real work to do I use my husky!
i have one just like that and thats how i was told 2 start it and it starts and i work as a chainsaw guy in haunted houses with it so i start it more than 100 times a night so i think i would know
@jcal5150 you should get the carburetor adjustment tool. I bought one for my Poulan chainsaw. Its starts up very easy now. They tune the engines too lean from the factory and they need to be richened up. Check out my cold start video of my poulan chain saw. You will see how easy the saw starts and how it does not bog down when its cold. Oh and your saw is 38cc. I've worked on a bunch of those farmhand 2150's
ha awesome. i saw a chain saw pole at home depot a few years back. me and my friends always talk about how awesome it would to have those if there was a zombie outbreak. but i guess starting them might be a problem, lol. awesome video.
