  • I grew up singing along to Janie Frickie. She was a huge influence on me. I'm still singing country songs!

  • wonderful song !!!!

  • Great singer

  • Bob McDill, Wayland Holyfield were the writers

  • she is great when it come to singing any thing that that has word's what a talent

  • guys, who's the first one to sing this song? is it Don Williams? of janie frickie?

  • @greenpanther39 This song appeared on Don Williams' 1977 album "Visions," five years before it was released by Janie Fricke. :-)

  • Each time I listen to this wonderful song by Janie I think of what a great song writer this was to come up with such a special song. I'd love to know who wrote it. Janie is fabulous as always. She can sing anything and make it the best. Thankfully, we do still have a few true country talented artists like her. - Paula

  • I had forgotten this one and all the memories it brings back. Thanks for a stroll down memory lane.

  • Did you know Janie use to be a 'school teacher ?!

  • Oh, the memories!!

  • awesome bass line here peeps!! Just listen to it!!! smiles! Phyllis......

  • She was the 1982 CMA Female Vocalist of the year. I saw her in concert in Augusta, GA. in Feb. 1983 with Alabama......she put on one hell of a show......No lasers, pyrotechnics or wiggly dance moves.....just pure magic in that beautiful voice.

  • @MultiBaldEagle SHE SOUNDS JUST AS GOOD TODAY.SUCH A SAME RADIO WON'T PLAY HER BECAUSE PEOPLE STILL LOVE HER!

  • @jim46151 That's because country radio....and country music in general, isn't even country anymore.

It's full of fake-ass people with fake-ass voices and fake-ass country accents singing fake-ass songs about things they know absolutely nothing about.

REAL country music comes from the heart.

  • @MultiBaldEagle It ain't just in the country music realm- for the most part, we are having a dry-spell in the music world right now.

  • Wow! Time sure flies. I bought this album on cassette when it came out in the 80s. Haven't heard this song for nearly 30 years!

I too had a huge crush on her. It wasn't just her looks, it was her voice, her silky technique, perfected as a jingles singer.

I remember her telling a TV interviewer about the experience. She then sang four notes: "Fly the friendly skies." The famous United Airlines commercial.

The interviewer went: "That was you!?" My reaction exactly.

  • Nobody did an album cover like she did...you have to be old school to remember what a doll she was and how many of us country boys had a huge crush on her when were growing up...:-)

  • @gurlsingerfan SHE STILL IS AND WE STILL DO!

  • @gurlsingerfan I didn't have a crush on her. I had a crush on Charly McClain. But I still enjoyed Janie Frickie's singing. Hell, I liked almost everybody's singing in the 1980's. Today's country music is not even country anymore. It's only pop music with some fake ass twang to it.

  • my favorite all time country song

  • Janie has such a fantastic voice- what a lovely, talented lady she is - God Bless and thanks for sharing her with us.....

  • Hit #4 in Billboard. Is Janie an alto, or a mezzo-soprano? Somebody schooled in voices, please let me know. God bless!

  • i worked a couple of shows with janie...what a wonderful person loaded with talent she can really sing a song..just love her

  • Nice song and she puts emotions to it too. That makes it more beautiful!

  • Is Janie fabulous or what? Wow - what a voice and she has so much personality. I've always loved this song and no one can sing it like Janie. I loved doing her songs in karaoke at our Legion post. Also, she has four songs on our juke box there that are very popular. Thank you for posting - Paula
