@ArkhamIllusionist Thanks for joining the colour movement :) Your best bet is to sign up to our facebook, twitter and other groups so we can fill you in on where we are going next and get you involved. All the links can be found in the above blurb below the film. Thanks for spreading the colour :)
I might be nice but then not everything needs to be painted though as there is some buildings that could be ruined by this there is a kind of beauty in imperfectness and derelict we don't want everywhere to look them same.. also brick walls are really nice as they are..
As much as I like this, if the paint used is not super high quality concrete paint it is not going to last even a year. I doubt they prepared the surfaces correctly either. Besides that it is fairly cool.

I dunno, it was a good advert, but you can't tell if dulux are actually trying to bring communities together or sell paint, and it is probably the second option.
@RKGftw Well obviously they're trying to sell paint. They're a business, not a charity. But at the end of the day, they're making good adverts and promoting their product whilst at the same time, 'bringing communities together' and doing a nice thing. It's the best of both worlds, and it's more than most companies would do.
All that goes through my mind is all that paint thats wasted...especially if you like the colour grey...they also covered peoples art work (or graffiti)...its almost like saying "no one likes your artistic cry out so we are going to paint over it in bold colours even though we know you will hate it, but guess what, i dont have to live with it outside my front door"
@JeremyScottThompson Looks like the only thing they covered over was tagging, which is not art, not even proper graffiti art. It takes no skill or talent to write your name on something which isn't yours, but it takes something special to pull a whole community together to do something like this.
I really want that my district would be so colorful too
Imma lil' bit tired of seeing gray concrete mass day by day
Most part of our uptown is gray and it's really boring and these similar lookin' colourless bodies supress people every day, even though we got used to see them
2 out of 628 people didn't like this. Even though I've never seen such an amazing approval ratio on any YouTube-Video so far, I have to ask these two people: What the heck is wrong with you?!
@Selinja make it three...i like the idea but i think it would have been money better spent on other things that the community needed rather then splashing colour all over their neighbourhood for only one reason, and we all know its for one reason, its to make dulux look good and hopefully get people to buy their paint
@DimoDemon@andronina@DerInternet The film is a real documentation of the Let's Colour Project. A global movement from paint companies (Dulux, Dulux Valentine, Coral and Marshall) to transform grey spaces with colourful paint. 650 people from all over the world came together to make this film. The painters are not actors, they are real people from the community who came together to paint with us. Hope you like it :)
The first part is in Rio, neighbourhood of Lapa (you can clearly see the archs in a moment), very beautiful indeed to see all the graffittis going away from the walls!!!
@Glenealy@andronina@DimoDemonThe film is a real documentation of the Let's Colour Project. This is super lame. What's wrong with street art and graffiti? You honestly think people want to look outside their window and see a bag of Skittles? I sure as hell wouldn't.
@RamenBooko what's wrong with street art and graffiti? What's wrong with people scribbling their names on walls and making the place they live look like a shitty ghetto? Yah, some graffiti is art, but most of it is crap. For every Banksy there are thousands of people who simply scribble shit on the walls. Besides, it's been proven that color affects mood.. I'd much rather have the color thanks.
This is a simply wonderful idea! One of the joys of being human is the ability to see such a colorful world. We should celebrate it! Colors really do make a difference.
the Jonsi song/album is great, and i love the video.
but I still feel like it may be fake-look at the end-the very last shot- some of the blue buildings look faked. Also some of the architecture looked really old- I can imagine maybe a building being offered up, maybe even an abandoned neighbourhood, but not a historic building unless its in an area thats REALLY been let go... otherwise I don't think a city would agree to it
@soulsofsolace Um.. I got the impression these were third world countries where they don't exactly have "historic buildings' just the buildings that were always there...
@AngelusDlion okay yeah thats a good point for a few of the shots. i really doubt the areas with parking lots, streetlights, and a city skyline are third world though. perhaps the old buildings alone were painted in third world countries
Well done to everyone who was involved, you must be knackered! It's such an uplifting ad - beautifully simple, great music and great art direction to make sure it all came together on film - and you actually involved the communities and did something to benefit people in the process. Ticks all my boxes!
@dmacparkour13 We used motion control to track very slowly at 0.5mm per second or slower. Some of the moves took 90 minutes in real time For the shot at the start we tamped the camera tps, iris and exposure time in sync to move from 25fps to 0.1fps - all in camera!
and then everyone got arrested for coloring businesses and houses without permission. I hope they did get permission btw, wouldn't it suk if your house ended up being the pink one?
