I feel pretty stupid asking it but i play patapon (facing gate ghoul baban ( i hope i got that right)) and i heard alot of people say grind- what exactly is grind?

What they mean is you'll probably need to replay the boss battles a bunch to get better weapons and rarepons. Grinding is just a term that means doing something over and over in a game.

Looks fun, though I'm a bit confused on how this works.... All you need to do is listen to the beat and repeat it by pressing the buttons?

It's more like you do a beat and they repeat it. There are several commands you learn over the course of the game that do different things, as the videos go on you'll see more of how it works.

You're basically a god to this tribe and you have to lead them to salvation. It's a music game, you control it by playing the drums in different ways.

Capture Card + FuSa plugin on my PSP. It's a pretty complicated setup.
