beautiful expert show of enamelling. I'd like to know, did Jane use hard solder to put on the brooch fittings, or was it IT solder? Would really appreciate your input if you know. if there's a way to persist with hard solder then I know to keep trying!

fine, I am slowly trying to learn about the Process of Enamel myself but I thought there needed to be some sort of special chemical treatment to the metal (silver) before it is treated with the Enameling process- anybody know? id greatley appreaciate your input! thanks!

No there is no need for a chemical treatment. Only with copper.
