I'd recommend upgrading the firewall. That looks like a Netgear FVS318, they are slow and crap out at about 5 Mbps of throughput. Virtualize that 1950 or 2950 and run pfSense as a VM. It will route/firewall at gig speed's I bet.
@DonaldScottIV They are pretty cheap on eBay. You can get the generation before the ones you see in his video for about $100. The 1950/2950's are anywhere from 150 to a couple of grand depending on the RAM QTY, CPU specs, and hard drives. A generation III PE 2950 is a nice box to have.
I wish i had the place to run a dell server. They are noisy I can't run it in my room. It was the best way of learning after graduating in Computer Networking specially with Vmware esxi !
The R300 is my root domain controller and the 2950 is my esxi host. There are quite a few VMs running on there, all of them are stable and in most cases faster than when they ran on previous hardware bare metal. :) Thanks for the kind comments, looking forward to seeing your stuff!
