This Robert Johnson dude has the vintage look & sound down pat! He’s obviously extensively studied the old blues guys from the 20’s & 30’s. I’ve never heard of him before, probably because he needs to get better management & public relations. Like, where’s the magazine & TV interviews, & live performance clips? He could be big. But I bet he listens to rap when he’s by himself at home.
The lyrics are supposedly 'i got mean things on my mind, oh little girl'. Does anybody else think it's actually 'i got mean things on my mind, you're gonna die'? At around 44 seconds.
Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys does a mini cover/scratch of " Rambling On My Mind " .........you should check it......did you know this track was recorded in San Antonio, TX.......thats my home town...210!
@FatSowRecords I would hope that my family could inherit the rights to my music after I die. Call me greedy. Further, you should take a copyright class.
If it weren't for this man Muddy Walters wouldn't have been, and if Muddy hadn't been then the rock 'n roll of today may not be what it is today! It blows my mind how much effect we can have on each others lives. I know this song here has helped me create some of my best work to date. Without it my work just wouldn't have soul. So thanks to the generation before me for giving birth to such legends.
There were many Blues players before Robert Johnson, some of them great. Though he wasn't as skillful on guitar, I consider Son House a greater singer than Johnson. He had a much better voice, as well.
@psychkoala You seem to know what you are talking about. I'll check out this Son House. Can you recommend anymore, please? I'm really starting to fall in love with this type of music.
Don't get me wrong, now, Robert WAS hot stuff- it's just that there's more to Country Blues... Muddy Waters, Son House, Skip James, Tommy Johnson, Ishman Bracey, Willie Brown, Blind Joe Reynolds, Garfield Akers, Charley Patton, Johnny Shines, Tommy McClennan, Rev. Robert Wilkins, John Lee Hooker, Kid Bailey, Blind Willie Mctell, Leadbelly, Furry Lewis, Blind Willie Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Doctor Isaiah Ross, Blind Boy Fuller, Blind Blake, etc .
Also, Henry Thomas, Rev. Gary Davis, Sleepy John Estes, Sonny Boy Williamson, Frank Stokes, Elmore James (mainly electric, but has the Delta sound), Big Bill Broonzy, Bukka White, Brownie McGhee, Sonny Terry, Joe Callicott, Rube Lacey, Mississippi John Hurt, & Cannon's Jug Stompers.
Here's a few CDs you might like: SON HOUSE & THE GREAT DELTA BLUES SINGERS (Document), THE ROOTS OF ROBERT JOHNSON (Yazoo), and Son House - The Complete Library of Congress Sessions, 1941-1942.

I cried a little bit the first time I heard it. I never heard two guitars come out of one before. And his voice is on key to go with it. Amazing.

I got ramblin', I got ramblin' on my mind
I got ramblin', I got ramblin' all on my mind
Hate to leave my baby, but you treats me so unkind
And I'm leavin' this mornin', with my arm' fold' up and cryin'
And I'm leavin' this mornin', with my arm' fold' up and cryin'
Hate to leave my baby, but she treats me so unkind
1936 or 2010, not much seems to change in the basics of relationship issues.
