intel basically raped everybody when the came out with the i7's because they were somewhat unexpectedly released while this thing was still in mass production, but outperformed the core 2 extreme's and cost a fraction, which meant, that sellers couldn't afford to liquidate the price of this cpu as they had invested too much money in a large stock of them. You do a google search for them and they hit around $1500, 1.5x the cost of a 980x

Two dual cores placed side-by-side in a package does not justify a quad core claim. The QX9770 is a Multi-Chip Module.

Oh, and the fan is rotated 180 out for your CPU...it should be facing back of your case, not towards front.

there is no bios setting to overclock. I have another computer with a Asus Rampage Formula motherboard it has the Clocks and timings or the Tweaker tool

I think the obvious choice would be a motherboard with the intel 5400xs chipset. That well, you can do sli :) Man, where did you get that QX9775 from?

it was ebay but ichanged my mind and let the other bidder bid for it becuase i thought it was just as ok for extreme gaming to get a intel dual core 2 and the xfx geforece 9800 gx2 with and asus p5e3 deluxe motherboard and yes it doesnt allow sli but many MANY peole say its unnesseary so i have gone really cheap and i think done the right thing - all for goddamn tiberium wars lo well i think ill also get crysis oh by the the qx9775 sold for 250 pounds roughly $500 lo

actually no it was used i talked to the guy it was fine no errors from any overclocking cant remember why he was sellnig but did not want part with - believed really cool guy, but he said he could not find the fan but if i was to get that chip i would be also getting a liquid cooling system which replaces the chip fan he said

8800GT alpha dog edition, 512 mb memory, 640 mhz clock speed,

500GB Maxtor Hard drive.

On a scale from 1 to 5.9, Windows rated my computer a 5.8.

hi, canadaman. I placed the cooler so that it'd blow towards the holes in the back of the case, to vent the hot air. The cooler's fan pulls air away from the CPU, so you want to sent that air to the nearest exit.

If I were you, I would just leave it. It's not that terrible that it's pointed a sub-optimum way, as opposed to the probs you;ll have if u try to remove. U gotta have lithium grease, for one, cause you;ll have to clean and regrease. And there's a chance you;ll break the clips. Plus, you gotta remove the mobo to really get at the cooler/heatsink. So in this case discretion is the better part of valor. Try Lavalysys' Everest or Asus ulit (if asus board) as see what cpu temp you're getting.
