I liked the thing he said about what you see may not be the same as what someone else sees. Maybe that's why people have a favourite colour, because they see it differently.
feels like this guy is colpletely in my head! just the same story.I got everything always mixed up. the number tests were always a disaster, my paintings were always weerd to my teachers, buying clothes... I believe colors are for everyone different and you just see them the way you do.
but in some situations it can be anoying and confusing..
like when your on a big crossroad with lots of confusing traffic lights. My trick is to try not to be the first and follow the rest of the traffic in front
The irony here is his mother is probably a tetrachromat, someone who has four different color receptors instead of three like most people, and who can see colors that most people can't.
This video is great because I've been looking for a way to describe to people that ask me what being colorblind is like and now I have that answer. Besides that, other things in the video are similar to my color blindness such as confusing other colors besides red and green
i feel your pain im colorblind at the age of twelve i get made fun of alot and in kindergarden mt teacher would get mad at me because i would color my grass brown and the sky purple! its not easy i know when i took the color blind test i got a 17 percent.
thx for explaining it its so annoying when people ask what color is this and you say a color and they are like wow liar he faking all of it.. well i have tritanopia and im having such a hard time but i also get other colors mixed up with it :I but i know how you feel and my friend's brother is color blind also but he is red green color blind but he gets same colors mixed up as you do but thank you :)
I wrote a blog post about my colorblindness and a friend suggested I watch this video, since I described it almost exactly the way the man in the video does. I'm floored right now. Amazed. 31 years old and I finally hear someone describing exactly what I see. (I'm also a self taught musician. Just a coincidence, I guess.)
If you would like to read my short blog post message me and I'll give you the link. Just remember I wrote it before seeing this video.
@PetriSoul are you really sure it is just a coincidence? I'm also rre-green colorblind and this video described almost everything that i think and how I see things...I was thinking, maybe people who are colorblind, as they don't give as much attention to the colors (vision sensation) of things, they give that attention to the ears and therefor we are so interested in music and self taught musician ;) just thoughs...
Thanks for your comments. I wanted to let you know that KidsHealth asked me to create a shorter, snappier version of No Such Thing As Color specifically for children. It will go up on their website shortly, but you can see it on my website or you can find it in my channel. I hope you enjoy!
Well done all around! I always wondered what it was like to be color blind. The comparison with tone deafness made great sense. Well-filmed, too. I'm inspired to get a flip camera and try it myself. Great job, all involved!
This is absolutely beautiful. I identified with him so much. I'd never really thought about my colourblindness too much until today. An amazing insight i feel. Thank you.
im not colorblind but i hate it when people ask the colorblind people "what color is this" non colorblind people think colorblind people see black and white.
@gtasafilms1 - The name 'colour blindness' is misleading, as most forms of colour blindness are quite mild - many people (mainly guys) who have it aren't even aware of it until it gets flagged up in a medical. I first learned I had 'red-green' clolour blindness from the school nurse when I was around 12-13.
What pisses me off are the medieval attitudes people seem to hold. Several pilots have admitted they are colour-blind but cheated on the medical - they never had any accidents or problems.

Being colour blind might make a clour chart confusing but it doesn't make you physically disabled or incapable of using common fucking sense. Yet the way it excludes you from so many things makes it sound like a major disorder *grrr*
@Sangrenegra9 Once I saw what he saw in this short, I realized that color blindness is similar to having a webbed foot. Its an inconvenience but not debilitating.
I am not color blind but it interests me alot. I understand its really frustrating but i love that every one sees the world a different way, everyones perception for what is real is so different.
i have the same thought's, im not colourblind as far as i know, but i've alway's thought to myself if your told it's one colour that's what you call it. :) it's good to know other people think the same.

Thank you finally a video that reveals what you actually see. I also appreciate the explanation of not thinking in color but in shape and texture.
Two of my boys are artists who"see" the same way ,
Its been helpful to share this with their art professors
