I'm tired of ppl making a big deal out of preachers asking for money. They are people who work and have to eat and pay for gas like everybody else who makes a living. Nobody gets offended when an actor says, "See my movie!" or a singer or musician says, "Come to one of my concerts!" but when a man or woman of God asks you to support their ministry or buy one of their books, people complain that they're greedy and just interested in money. Such hypocrisy...
@Blessings2UForever I think the issue w/ most of these preachers such as those on tv is that they manipulate and twists scripture and lie saying things like if you give to my ministry God will bless you and that is just not true. Our blessings are not contingent upon whose ministry we give to. I personally don't have an issue with supporting a ministry but don't try and make me feel like my Father doesn't love and accept me b/c I not giving to YOU. Don't lie on Christ and then disqualify me!

Now, if a preacher is confident that he is preaching the truth about God, I don't see anything wrong with him saying that God will bless those who give to his ministry- because that's in God's Word- but not by giving ONLY to his ministry.

Obviously speaking in tongues didn't stop there because it was later addressed in I Corinthians 12 and 14. In I Corinthians 12 it was clearly addressed as a gift of the spirit. In chapter 14 it addresses it as how it should be done. Now by these video clips there is nothing wrong with what the people, who are being moved by the Spirit, are doing. Now what that preacher said about not being welcome isn't right because he's twisting around Scripture for his own purposes.

Jesusway2heaven there is some truth in what you say but you're being way to narrow-minded about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can move any way he chooses not as us mere people want Him to move. And also what you're referring to with "as a foreign language in which the speaker never knew but which the hearer did" the hearers knew because they were from different areas in which the holy spirit filled people were speaking in.
The main work of the Holy Spirit isn't manifestations such as tongues but to convict the world of sin,righteousness and judgement to come as the bible said HE would. We're told not to grieve Him (Ephesians4vs30), 1Thessalonians5vs19 says not to quench him. The Holy Spirit also inspired various writers to write books of the bible and he gave gifts to edify(build up) the church. Whats displayed by these men is exactly the confusion which happened in Corinth which the apostle Paul addressed.

They don't need to take money from the church when they can still get it in other ways.

Last summer we hosted Hillsong church... Darlene, Brian, Bobbie, and Christine Caine... The contract, (I was Christine's driver around Jacksonville, Fl.) stated that if we paid their airfare and hotel, (I drove them every night to the Residence Inn and Suites 2 miles from the church) then they would do a concert for free. We took up a love offering for them, we actually raised $20,000 USD for them.
All of these american speaker, benny hinn and all the crazys are not what we stand for. All I ask is that you compare apples to apples... Hillsong does not do that crazy stuff and you know it. If you have a problem with their money, than make a video on that. But dont show stupid pentacostal stuff and call it hillsong. They are much classier than that...
One more thing. If anyone has an ability to make a lot of money, than let them go! Thats the American dream at heart. No one gets angry at the Millions doctors and Lawyers and football players make. I read about a crazy out of control 'revival' the other day, it was just insane. These 'Christians' all got together and prayed and waited for God to move as they said they had been instructed to do. After four months of praying they had what they called a 'visitation' they claimed that the Holy Spirit caused them to speak in other languages, that they had supernatural manifestations of fire on their heads, they all felt 'the wind of God', and they were even seen displaying drunkenness, ACTS 2
After these 'manifestations' all of which seem so pointless because they don't make sense to all the superior minds of the Earth, all of these 'Christians' put everything they owned into a community pool and their 'leadership' dispersed it among them as they saw fit. Boy were those guys duped, all these crazy 'manifestations', giving away all they owned to a strange religious movement...Or maybe..hmm Its funny how many are afraid of the counterfeit when thev never even seen the genuine...so sad

That's the problem with most people - typecasting.
Eg. When they see a captured terrorist with a beard and in a turban, they assume all bearded Arabs with turbans are terrorists! So when they see a rich & successful church, they assume these churches as self-serving, cults, misappropriating funds etc.
Some of these critics will try to be philanthropic and ask what these churches are doing about the poor and destitute; well, I for one know some of these rich churches are doing a lot more than some governments.
If only people know how much the Temple of Solomon cost... they will know it is scriptural for churches to be rich and successful. It's those churches that are struggling to even support their own pastors' pay that should be questioned!

Not all Christian denominations believe in much - but it's still in the Bible. Praise God that in the world at large many denominations are learning to really believe the word and walk in the Spirit. What if Mr Hillsong video-maker actually has dredged around for stuff to make a point because he is full of prejudice? Does the end justify the means? Come on - don't be like a politician! Give a straight answer for once!

I used to attend CLC (Hillsong City) from the late 80s to the early 90s and I used to share house with some of these leaders, and I can verify that what this guy is saying has a lot of truth in it.

Nobody gets offended when an actor says, "See my movie!" or a singer or musician says, "Come to one of my concerts!" but when a man or woman of God asks you to support their ministry or buy one of their books, people complain that they're greedy and just interested in money. Our blessings are not contingent upon whose ministry we give to. I personally don't have an issue with supporting a ministry but don't try and make me feel like my Father doesn't love and accept me b/c I not giving to YOU. Obviously speaking in tongues didn't stop there because it was later addressed in I Corinthians 12 and 14. In I Corinthians 12 it was clearly addressed as a gift of the spirit. In chapter 14 it addresses it as how it should be done. Now by these video clips there is nothing wrong with what the people, who are being moved by the Spirit, are doing. Now what that preacher said about not being welcome isn't right because he's twisting around Scripture for his own purposes.

And also what you're referring to with "as a foreign language in which the speaker never knew but which the hearer did" the hearers knew because they were from different areas in which the holy spirit filled people were speaking in.

The main work of the Holy Spirit isn't manifestations such as tongues but to convict the world of sin,righteousness and judgement to come as the bible said HE would. We're told not to grieve Him (Ephesians4vs30), 1Thessalonians5vs19 says not to quench him. The Holy Spirit also inspired various writers to write books of the bible and he gave gifts to edify(build up) the church. Whats displayed by these men is exactly the confusion which happened in Corinth which the apostle Paul addressed.

gdon17 Yes men spoke in tongues on the day of pentecost which was a unique day in the history of the church which will never be repeated again.Study Acts and Corinthians and read in which context tongues was spoken, as a foreign language which the speaker never knew which but which the hearer did. Last summer we hosted Hillsong church... Darlene, Brian, Bobbie, and Christine Caine... The contract, (I was Christine's driver around Jacksonville, Fl.) stated that if we paid their airfare and hotel, (I drove them every night to the Residence Inn and Suites 2 miles from the church) then they would do a concert for free. We took up a love offering for them, we actually raised $20,000 USD for them.

Funny thing about montages is that they do not allow you to understand what the evangelists are saying in the full context! How to accurately comment on any of these preachers if we do not have full context? All videos edited to suit threadstarter! And what relation do these montages have with Hillsong Church?

That's the problem with most people - typecasting.
Eg. When they see a captured terrorist with a beard and in a turban, they assume all bearded Arabs with turbans are terrorists! So when they see a rich & successful church, they assume these churches as self-serving, cults, misappropriating funds etc.

Some of these critics will try to be philanthropic and ask what these churches are doing about the poor and destitute; well, I for one know some of these rich churches are doing a lot more than some governments.
If only people know how much the Temple of Solomon cost... they will know it is scriptural for churches to be rich and successful. It's those churches that are struggling to even support their own pastors' pay that should be questioned!

Not all Christian denominations believe in much - but it's still in the Bible. Praise God that in the world at large many denominations are learning to really believe the word and walk in the Spirit. Also to walk in unity with one another - which only happens by the Spirit. Not slagging off other ministries with lies and deception.

Any denomination that exploits the weak, Catholic included should be brought to account.

Helped the poor, yes I have, I was once homeless a street kid who then went onto work as an Youth Worker for the Salvation Army to help the poor, of which I was one.

Is possible that the producer of these videos might have taken things out of context to justify his arguments.
But I beleive that she hasn't done this. Because there are too many other independent media sources that back up what this person is saying, ie Tanya Levin's "People in Glass Houses."
I used to attend CLC (Hillsong City) from the late 80s to the early 90s and I used to share house with some of these leaders, and I can verify that what this guy is saying has a lot of truth in it.

ive never heard of hillsong living the rich life. Benny Hinn is all over youtube being a hypocryte.
The hillsong cd's are like 20 euro, while secular cd's cost about 40 euro, while the hillsong cd's are sold in not that great quantaties so i think there fairly cheap.
But everybody is entitled to there opinion, so you can have yours. I'll have mine.
As long as we don't judge people, because like Jesus sais: "Who that is without sin throws the first rock".
