Awesome tune!! Crazy how it's about life and a couple who meet, then have a long relationship until in old age the man lays dying. But then also about the incredible idea of combing corn, and wine!
"Just one thing in mind"...he goes into "Ned Flanders" voice...and when he talks in his low voice, it's more like Principle Skinner...so that's how I see it in my head...a duet between Ned Flanders and Principle Skinner...and I'll tell you, that is disturbing! :)
I really wish they had included this in the actual movie. The subtle tension between Michael and Chris's characters is hilarious and sets up the later scene when Alan is driving the car and Michael asks him if has the map.
@RRFBINH Hey.. i found it.. but i didnt buy it... but here is the amazon link.. to the digital download.. and the CD, that its from... if your a Simpsons fan, such as I... you may know this voice.. but here is the CD link. go to Amazon.com... and type in Songs Pointed And Pointless thats what the CD is called... hope this helps you out..
The oddest thing about Mighty Wind is the fine line between the parody and reality. There was a journalist at the Spinal Tap junket in 1984 who thought it was a real band.
Satirists who come to realize that there is no point in carrying on their satirical intent as they realize that no one seems to be discerning a tipping point where what they do is recognized as absurd or comedic.
The Folksmen were actually the first band to put the end of a song in the middle. There's probably reason they were the first but you have to hand it to them for that.
The cast of Christopher Guest (Castlerock) are beyond talented.

I agree with the bass player that it's definitely "nanny" before "ninny". Every folk musician knows this iron rule.

carolinajen 3 years ago 7
This is just barely even satirical...
I know these guys meant it as satire, and I've seen the film and can appreciate the scene in context...
Nonetheless, the song works as a good ol' folk song on it's own merit, and they play the heck out of it.
Whether you like the music, the film, or you're just stumbling onto this, ya' gotta love it...
OldManAP 3 years ago 7
@OldManAP "ya' gotta love it..."
Unless, apparently, you're Roger Ebert.
He gave it a thumbs-down (!) on the basis that...
wait for it...
...it wasn't "edgy" enough, it didn't "go for the jugular."
Apparently, satire works only if it draws blood.
I've rarely been so disillusioned; I'd never before/since so disagreed w/ Ebert.

Who cares what Ebert thinks? He doesn' t see genius when it smacks him right in the face.

There's a jazz song called "Some Skunk Funk" that has about 5 endings in the middle of it (depending on what version you get)
Pretty sure it's been out a lot longer than this too P:
But either way, this video is amazing.
