  • Thanks alot Very informative its 2009 almost 2010 now is this still a nice camrea

  • Funny how you shot the 'little door' landscape in the video, but it came out portrait! I assume you cropped it...

  • Yes, they are pretty much the same camera. I didn't have the problem except when I made mistakes in shooting. We had the opportunity of shooting a falcon and I tried out the spot metering while it was perched on its owner's hand. Suddenly it flew off and I kept shooting but didn't take it out of spot metering which gave a nasty under exposure. Bear in mind it can be a personal preference too. I usually keep my personal camera on a 1/3 stop under as I think it gives better colours, but that's me.

  • I really like your review and really want to get this camera. Its funny I was haveing a hard time decideing between the samssung gx20 and the pentax k20d, just to find that there almost identical lol. Im going with pantax cause of there name. I am a biggner to dslr's and want to pursue a carrier in photography. I heard that this camera has about a 48% chance of underexposeing pictures! Have you had this problem and was it easy to correct with the ev compinsation thing. Thank u:)

  • nice video Matt, splendid lab work on the ghosty church.

  • Thanks very much. I'm always looking to improve and welcome any feedback. It's always nice to read positive comments though. =:O)

  • I like the actual style (as D3x review) more :)

less breathing into mic, video quality etc..

btw next time pls try shooting some pretty girls instead of an old church :D

  • This review was an early one. I've got better since then (I like to think) but I'm no Jeremy Clarkson.

  • practice makes perfect :)

  • Sorry, that makes no sense. The K200D uses a CCD sensor, the Sony A100, A200, A300 and A350 use CCD sensors ... and they ALL have dust removal!

  • It makes perfect sense to me, which is the problem I guess. =:O)

I'm not saying the CCD isn't upto the task, Im simply quoting Pentax' reason for the change from CCD to CMOS.

  • Where exactly did Pentax say this? It simply makes NO SENSE since they use Sony's CCD sensor in the K200D, which utilizes the very same antishake. In other words, they're making up stuff and you didn't (know to) call them on it, or you got it wrong.

  • They said it at the launch of the K20D in Dubai. The Japanese guy I mentioned int he review said it in front of a big crowd of journalists.

Secondly, they use a CCD sensor developed by Samsung, not Sony.

  • Got a cite for that? Other reviews indicate it is from Sony (where Pentax got all its previous sensors, like the 10MP K10D), and the the only Samsung sensor is the CMOS one in the K20D.

  • My mistake. Got all muddled, was thinking of the K20D and talking about the K10D.

  • K10D/K200D/K-m 10Mpix CCD sensor from sony (same as Nikon D80, D40x, D60, Sony Alpha 100,200,300) Differences are in image processors in cameras. Pentax is capable of raw files packed with detail.

K-m sensor is latest generation of the same sensor, improved circuits, able to shot real Iso3200

K20D has 15,1/14,6Mpix CMOS from samsung, it has the best resolution in raw in APS-C range, even canon 50D cannot match it with its slightly higher pixel count... tested on dpreview, trusted reviews etc..

  • The "CMOS is more robust so will fit better with the antidust and other features"???

Whatever you're smoking, pass it around.

  • Well, yeah

Pentax said they chose the CMOS as it was more robust than CCD which I think fits well with other features on the camera. If dust removal shakes the sensor, I'd guess a pretty good quality one would be needed?
