  • So bizarre America spends more and gets less. There are over 40 million without any coverage, it is absurd.

  • Their doctors make much less than ours. [ My two brothers-in-laws there make much less than my two cousins here in U.S.; and they all DOCTORS].

AMA is the main obstacle here, protecting wealth of members above all else.

  • WoW!! looks at dobbs traying to do some real unbiased reporting.?

    i dont buy it.

  • Both sides make good points. We should just compromise: Deregulate the industry to help drive down costs and in exchange the government provides mfinancial assistance to residents who can prove they are drowning in medical debt. What do you say!

  • what is this series called?

  • the dutch are good at compromise google polder model

  • Holland seems to have a similar Health Care system as France and something that americans should look at. Instead of Canada or Britain with their Single Payer systems.

  • @FRSFreeStateES France stil has a single-payer system like my country (Australia) but we have the option of buying private insurance and even then we will still be covered by the public system

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Actually France has both Private and Public Healthcare and Health Insurance

  • @FRSFreeStateES I'm aware of that but technically whenever you have a public option its single-payer its only when you purchase private insurance is it considered otherwise, my countries (Australia) current system is based on the French where we have the public provider (Medicare) that everyone pays into and then we have the private options (Medibank Private, GMHBA, Manchester Unity etc.) but we are still all covered by the public system.

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Fine but my point is about Health Insurance Coverage, the Medicare for all people in America. Say that one reason why we should do that. Is because the rest of the Developed World has that. Which is simply not true, again look at France and Holland. Even Britain has private Healthcare and Health Insurance now.

  • @FRSFreeStateES do a tandem system, yes but in the UK everyone is still covered by the NHS, have the public system that covers everyone and then have private options for those who want them (to bypass the waiting lists on elective surgery) but still have then contribute to the public system because they'll still be covered

  • @irishgodfatherchris

But again Britain still has Public Private Healthcare System as much as British Socialists may hate that. Which is my whole point about Single Payer Healthcare.

  • @FRSFreeStateES actually most British Socialists that I've met have said that for as long as the NHS covers every citizen then they don't care about the private sector although some have also said that they would like the government to scale down the amount of private insurers (through nationalisation as far as I could make out)

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Another words they don't like it

  • @FRSFreeStateES they dislike the corporatist nature of the private sector, that doesn't mean to say they don't like the system because they do, what it does if you pardon the expression is it keeps the bastards honest.

  • @FRSFreeStateES

Check your facts again. Britain has a public health care system, which is paid by taxes, with some private additional assurance, as has France. The Netherlands may have privatized health care system, but it's strictly regulated and everybody who's is unemployed or can't afford a insurance is covered by the state, so it's kind of a public health care system with universal coverage. In fact, there is not a single European state without universal health care.

  • @Kaniballoy

But Britain and France have Private Options in Healthcare and Health Insurance which is my point. Universal Healthcare and Socialize Healthcare are two different things. You can get Universal Healthcare with Socialize Healthcare. Or you can do what France does with a Public Private Healthcare System.

  • @FRSFreeStateES no one was saying that UHC is socialised medicine, only the US is.

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Well if UHC is not Socialized Medicine, then what would you call it?

  • @FRSFreeStateES UHC is ja public healthcare system paid for by taxes, the private does not cease even if its compulsory to have in our case Medicare

  • @irishgodfatherchris

And how's that different from Socialize Medicine?

  • @FRSFreeStateES socialised medicine from my countries and my personal perspective is when not only do the government run a public healthcare system but they also own the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the drugs for the system.

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Well that would be Classical Socialism where government runs at least one aspect of the economy. But then there's Democratic Socialism like in Sweden. Where you have a mix of Public and Private Services in the economy. Socialize Medicine is where government runs the Healthcare System or at least part of it.

  • @FRSFreeStateES to me and my comrades Democratic Socialism means something different because we spend a lot of our time looking out for minorities and so forth, so its evolved into something completely different to what our comrades in Sweden, Norway and indeed the rest of Continental Europe to what they would call Socialism

  • @irishgodfatherchris

Socialism is a diverse Political Ideology

  • @FRSFreeStateES exactly

  • 2:27 That's Dublin, Ireland not The Netherlands!!

  • I still cant understand why the american people fight against their own good.In the Netherlands the goverment is the people and the people are the government.

  • @7aniba3al The news is full of lies and correct information alike. As long as Fox News and other false talk show/news channels keep broadcasting their propaganda, the current system here in America will not change.

  • I am Dutch but I don't like our current system. I prefer a system that is fully government-controlled without competition like in Sweden.

  • I agree with you :P

  • This is something that could work in the US.

Private insurance, but a mandate of coverage on the citizenry.

And the insurance companies cannot turn you down based on previous health conditions.

One thing though, the government must not tell hospitals or doctors how much they can charge.

  • private BUT regulated and the poor are subsidized

  • @CJKaram

``One thing though, the government must not tell hospitals or doctors how much they can charge.``

Yes, it is a terrible idea to have the government bargain in the full strength of the customers (the people), regarding the costs of services.

I say end the appeasement of private companies, and end the sharades of gov managed private systems. Make it public owned, and completely open for monitor by the citizens and orgs. All previous profit go back to gov, so TAXES can be LOWER.

  • A lot of lessons to be learned.
