  • are you guys signed to a lable??

  • I now know for a fact that the world sucks when there is just 7,378 views of something this fucking good. You've just gained a loyal fan sir. Great name too. As you say, "Brilliant", or as we say on the Isle of New York "fuckin' A"

  • @aldoobler - thank you, don't worry, I like being obscure and undiscovered.

  • Whats the movie from with Phil Daniels?

    Once again, great song!

I love this stuff! freakn Cool! You make me still wanna write music!

  • @keaneterpol Agreed!

  • The repetitive hook in the end is very catchy. I'm a FAN. Is it Wierd-Al at the end of the video?

  • Thanks. Hm, it does look like Weird-Al but it's a british actor called Phil Daniels. Search here for "blur parklife" to see him cockney-rapping.

  • @danielearwicker Lol. "Cockney-rapping"

  • veeeeery nice

  • you're good!!!!

  • Daniel just discovered this little ditty. Great guitar work and catchy hooks as usual. Are you playing out live with a band anywhere? Check out "The Playtrains" to see where we are coming from. Keep up the good work.

  • That was a good one.

  • Nice work...I get a sort of Andy Partridge/XTC thing going on too? Really interesting sound :-)

  • hey dan, do you play all of the instruments? or there are more members in the band?

  • reminds me of the smiths, but a bit more "bright" - can see some REM influence as well at about 2mins. good stuff son. keep it up.

  • Dirk, Stig and Barry.

  • is the fifth primrose a guy called smart-arse? ;)

  • really good, quite a unique style

  • superb, looks like a new 'classic'

  • You have a great voice.

  • You need to record a CD, I´ll buy here in Brazil.

Change a name for one word name: The Primrose

  • bravo bravo bravo..cheers from italy

  • Very smiths like.GREAT.

  • This is really really good. Great composition and a very polished production. I love that opening guitar riff (somewhat reminiscent of the Smiths' "Some girls..." riff and also Morrissey's "Why don't you find out for yourself"). I clearly hear influences of Beatles, Smiths, Police, Stone Roses, Blur.

  • like has been said previously, ive been lurking on youtube for a while and have never commented, but i have to say the Smiths and REM work brought me to your site/stuff?, and i cant say how glad i am about that - excellent!

  • the musics awesome, not a fan of the singing though, but musics amazing though

  • K, this is ridiculously good. Ur so much better than 95% of music out there now.

  • Great song. Is there a CD I can buy?

  • I found your (brilliant) remake of how soon is now

    then subscribed

are you doing all of this (including film making) by yourself ????

    your work is awe inspiring

  • Good song man

  • daniel my hats off to you your making real music

i mean shit man this sounds 100% better than allot of the crap out today that is based on tried methods and sounds that have been done before and whats really impressive you play all the instruments in your songs and do all the editing work

to boil it down i think it's very refreshing to hear your music it's different

    cheers mate

  • sorry for commenting a 3rd time lmao, but i have a question, what is this song about and where did the inspiration come from? im getting into the old songwriting myself you see!

  • oh and if you get big and ever need a drummer, let me know ;)

  • wow, you really can tell you listen to the smiths! this is amazing stuff dude. keep it up!

  • I think your Smiths instrumentals are just awesome and I love the work you are doing with The Primrose League, although I find the vocals a bit too tinny, almost as though they've been produced electronically. I think they fit better if they had more bass in them giving a more rounded sound. That of course is only my opinion. Great job though lads think I'll be investing in The New CD. Good Luck with everything....Manks

  • Great song, my favorite of your tracks. Keep it up!

  • I think this is by far your strongest song, mainly because you wrote a catchy vocal melody that works well with your singing style and the guitars. While I enjoy your other stuff as well, I think the vocal melody is where you sometimes fall short. I don't mean to nitpick though--you've got a great sound!

  • fall short of what? the smiths? if he tried to sound like Morrissey that would just be ridiculous.

  • I'm talking about the vocal melody, not the manner in which he sings. I like his voice just fine.

  • you should send johnny a copy

    you never know.....

  • wow man.. im so impressed

  • So am I.

    Beautiful.

  • May I ask which film the main clips are from?

  • Meantime (1984)

  • I'm going to have to get all modern and buy your album on itunes. In the twenty years since The Smiths split this is the only piece of guitar playing which, I feel, justifies being compared to Johnny Marr. And I'm not one for hyperbole.

Your time will come - soon hopefully.

  • There's no album to buy (yet). But you can download several free tracks from the Primrose League iTunes page.

  • Very impressed indeed. Huge Smiths fan from day 1, Your guitar work on the old Smiths stuff is fantastic.

As for your own work, 5 stars isn't enough!

Great song, thanks for sharing it with us.

  • Well, after viewing your smiths covers, i'm also impressed with your own music. Great video!

  • Absolutely stunning! I've just emailed all my friends telling them about you. It's like I've just woken up after being asleep for twenty years. Beautiful!

  • Wow. Thanks very much! Did your alarm clock go wrong?

  • LOL - I mean musically there's been very little in the last twenty years that has put a genuine smile on my face. There is now.

  • Thanks very much... I hope to add more soon, and maybe a podcast would be a good way to do ordinary music tracks.

  • cool tune! Really catchy.been listening to it at work.

  • You don't work at Radio 1 by any chance? *crosses fingers*

  • sorry to say I'm not the next Peel! Thanks for the barbarism begins at home post.Took me a while to figure out the chords you were playing but it was worth it.

  • i'm impressed mr earwicker, keep them coming.

  • I'm glad to hear it... more on the way.

  • i love this. very johnny-marr esque, your mixing of guitars. and as for the vocals, is that you? if so please sing along to some of your smiths covers, would work a treat i reckon.

  • Thanks very much. Yes it's me singing. I'd rather leave the Smiths tracks so others can enjoy singing to them! :)
