I think when people ask when to do in the meantime, they have a legit question. The answer is to do the only thing you -can- do and change the way you look at the world so that when people treat you poorly because of your orientation or gender or any other reason, you can minimize the effect their actions have on you. So call a suicide hotline or talk to someone you trust. Learn cognitive behavioural therapy to become a happier person. There will always be BS but there are options for NOW.

And although it has been 20 years, I still think about him often, and wish I knew then what I know now. I would have told him to stay strong, because once you are out of high school it's a totally diiferent ball game, and the things that seemed like the end of the world at the time, are completely insignificant.

I think when people ask when to do in the meantime, they have a legit question. The answer is to do the only thing you -can- do and change the way you look at the world so that when people treat you poorly because of your orientation or gender or any other reason, you can minimize the effect their actions have on you. So call a suicide hotline or talk to someone you trust. Learn cognitive behavioural therapy to become a happier person. There will always be BS but there are options for NOW.

@ceejay32484 - you find a way to survive. i researched and read, got as much information as i could. i'm 27 now, but i was 13 once, and i wondered, i was scared. i didn't know if it would ever get better, but i wanted to find out. i went away to university where i introduced myself as gay, there was no coming out people just knew, and you meet people, you make friends, you build a life of your own making. you do whatever you have to, hold on to whatever you have to and you will survive.

And although it has been 20 years, I still think about him often, and wish I knew then what I know now. I would have told him to stay strong, because once you are out of high school it's a totally diiferent ball game, and the things that seemed like the end of the world at the time, are completely insignificant.

Not to knock the message, but I don't think girls get as much of a bad rap for being bi as men do, partly because most straight men wants bisexual girlfriends to have threesomes with and stuff, while there's still a huge stigma against bisexual men on the misconceptions that they're closeted "fags" or AIDs-spreading horndogs who will screw anything. Just a personal observation. Noone is saying you "had it easy", just that males are generally more comfortable being aggressive and violent towards other men. Aside from my personal experiences, I'd wager there are two cases of hate crime related violence reported towards males for every one towards a female.
