  • joy division tout simplement unique .

  • hello ian are you still alive? ;D

  • Sam Riley is superbe

  • yikes. they played shadowplay on tony wilson's show. not transmission.

  • Fucking Raw.

  • the movie, i know it as 24HOURSPARTYPOEPLE, is pretty COOL, and i remember the day ian killed himself, thus, relaid the LP to get on the market. sorry for him

  • THE MOVIE IS AWESOME! But I am not sure about Sam and his interpretation of Ian Curtis... in Nonstop party people, Harris was much better then Samn in Control. But Control is my all time favorite.

  • Actually, the song should have been Shadowplay, but... it doesn´t matter.

  • the guitar tune/dist is not so good :c

  • holy shit that guy is the probation worker from MISFITS!

  • @mustafasadmansakib holy fuck...that's right. mind's blown

  • It should have been Shadowplay, but hey, It´s just a movie...

  • "Shit... my husband is fucked up"

  • Sam Riley became Ian Curtis for this movie...they could not have chosen better. To try to imitate a GOD must have been intimidating, but he nailed it! RIP Ian...the music world is that much better for you having been a part of it...

  • One of the best movies ever. R.I.P. Ian.

  • Wasn't it Shadowplay they performed on the show?

  • @nsr4interpol yes, I don't know why they changed it in the film but in reality they did perform Shadowplay on Granada

  • esta rola esta muy buena

  • Interesting how Sam Riley was born the same year Ian died.

  • @ratmanrussell

    NO WAY :D

  • Is this actually him singing, great effort if it is

  • Boooo

  • with all due respect to neru above, this is not bad, but pretty weak compared to the real documentary. I was lucky enough to see the premiere of both at the TIFF and the "real" documentary knocks the socks off this film factually while being equally entertaining. I also felt I "knew" the band much better after watching the real documentary. It's available all over including Amazon and is just titled "Joy Division"

  • @Leaf13 Don't talk shite.

  • @Leaf13 That's because this isn't a documentary. It's a film. It's sad that someone has to explain that to you.

  • HARRY!!

  • Sam Riley fuckin' got it, come on!

  • Control is one of my favorite films of all time. :)

Didn't Joy Division perform Shadowplay when they were first introduced on TV, not Transmission? They performed Transmission for BBC much later, after the band was decently famous. Not sure why the movie did this. Maybe the actors liked Transmission more and wanted to learn to play that song rather than Shadowplay? I don't know.

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy yeah, it wasn't BBC, it was regional Yorkshire television--no, Granada TV, actually. The film got it right. You're not British, are you? Lucky bastard...

  • @vollsticks

Oh, okay. Thanks for clarifying. :)

No, I'm not British. I'm American. And I like British people and their culture; by saying I'm the lucky one, you make it sound like it's miserable being British.

  • @NintendoSegaSonyGuy I think it is pretty miserable, actually. But it's probably a Northern thing. We tend to glorify it a bit more than our soft Southern counterparts...(joke. Kind of...)

  • <3 _ <3 radio transmission en vivo!!!

  • well done

  • Hi, Why his wife looks upset?

    Answer me .

  • @NadaInterior see film control...

  • Yeah I have no idea why they put Transmission in instead of Shadowplay. Not accurate, but I'll take it either way.

  • greaaat band....greaaaaat songs.....great film!..., cheers Bandogz.

  • that fella got it down to a tee, brilliant performance

  • 12 people do not like this.....are they deaf? blind? or just plain fucking stupid?

  • Say what you want, but the guy playing Tony Wilson sounds exactly like him.

  • Fuck me, that Sam Riley looks like Ian re-incarnated . . .

  • @DaftSwank Its uncanny isnt it? Saw this on HBO in Thailand yesterrday and couldn't get over the resemblance

  • @hufclufc This was a great film. The other actors playing Barney, Hooky, and Stephen are pretty good as well . . .

  • Not accurate, I believe they did Shadowplay for this broadcast

  • @fitster08 I think they know that, I'm sure they did it for a reason, not trying to be rude or anything...

  • @fitster08 yes, it was "Shadowplay". I don't understand why they didn't use the right song since they reproduced correctly so many details of that performance.

  • @fitster08 You're right . . . I just ordered "Control" off amazon and am hoping the commentary has an explanation as to why they didn't recreate this -- their very first television appearance -- using the proper song.

  • Great fucking movie!

  • was it not shadowplay they did?

  • much better actor than 24hour partypeople

  • Ian was there in spirit R.I.P friend to me i hope when i die i meet a friend that at 1 stage had my problems and had no help his dignity got the best of him his lyrics are so powerful so like Cobain but US fuckers acknowledge Cobain like there pubescent Bieber makes me sick DIO brother give that fucker and all US the sign they are poison there music is poison commercial poison To me Ian wanted to tour Australia before US wankers think about it hail IAN CURTIS

  • @stevo11ist

But, no one cares about Australia.

  • Sam Riley does Ian so well, seriously he is brilliant. It shocked me when I first seen this. I was expecting a bad actor to be playing Ian, but no he does an amazing job.

  • DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE to the radio...

  • Sam Riley's portrayal of a true legend Ian Curtis R.I.P the only thing it misses are the people at the front watching Ian in the original film clip they should have tracked them down if still alive to relive that moment this is a classic and for Sam to lay in the coffin and pretend he was Ian dead in the movie would have got him going it would have got me thats for sure respect by me to you Sam Riley

  • if i didnt know better I WOULD THING THIS *WAS* JOY DIVISION!! :O

  • At the very end you can see the next part of the movie where Tony Wilson signs a contract with them in his own blood. Good comic relief.

  • Watch this, then watch the live television performance that comes up in the suggestions.... the resemblance is uncanny

(its the slightly green one about half-way down)

  • Great performance from the movie.

  • Where I go to 4 wheel drive at night, there is a blinking tower in the middle of the desert, where I always think" Radio Flag Transmission."

  • Best cover still to this day and forevr! i actually think this is better than the actual band its self! Jkjk

  • amazing acting job by SAM RILEY...totally different in "13" he is one to watch as the next big thing. IAM CURTIS was amazing, so young, so conflicted, and this seems to be a winning combo...health (mental and physical) I believe got him in the end, like NICK DRAKE, who could have been huge to this day. I appreciate them, as they were, they show us how creative minds work and need more than just money to function and be well, IAN said it, NICK said it, in different ways, they were happy w out $

  • I AM COMPLETELY ENAMOURED BY SAM HE IS IAN.... CONTROL IS MY ALL TIME FAV MOVIE...I CAN'T GET ENOUGH...IM HOOKED...SAM IS YUMMY....XOXXOXXO

  • THE best film i've ever seen.

Sam Riley has the 'dance' bang on!

    He Definitley did Ian justice!

  • @nerualjones where did you find this film? can i download it?

  • @SkirrePepfles You can actually see it in YouTube

  • @MechoulamSergio yeah but its only songs and i want to see the rest of the movie too

  • @MechoulamSergio oh wait alreday found it on piratebay thanks :)

  • Нет слов, когда же у нас начнут снимать подобное кино, в частности про Цоя. Снимаю шляпу, кароче, молодцы!

  • Sams a friend of my daughter and knew "caras old man" was an old punk,,sam asked about Joy Division and i told him i saw them many times in the late 70s..infact i had a fight with Ian and Rob...over the fees for the Factorty tour at the Fclub...But after we had "resolved" our probs...we all went to the Viaduct and got pissed...Tony Wilson ALWAYS there ..please dont get drunk and talk to these punk rockers..which was very ironic as he had put he pistols on tv 3 years before..

  • His dance dance dance dance dance is really accurate

  • dancee dancee danncee dancceee thru the radio

  • sam is fuckin brilliant

  • Rest In Peace, Ian Curtis. Only in your passing were you even mildly understood. But your music will influence the world for generations to come.

  • THIS MOVIE IS TOTALLY FUCKED! COULDN'T GET TONY WILSON'S WORDS RIGHT AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, JOY DIVISION PLAYED SHADOWPLAY ON GRANADA REPORTS!!!!!!!!!! FUCKING BULLSHIT!

  • @JonHernandez22 nah m8 they played this as well

  • Comment removed

  • @eatingplans but they played shadowplay immediately following wilson's intro. check out the joy division documentary.

  • @eatingplans but they played shadowplay immediately after wilson's intro. check out the joy division documentary

  • shockingly accurate

  • Scary how much he has studied him, and how his whole being is just tuned to Curtis. Just scary. God.

  • Doesn't sound as good as Ian? You don't say!

Of course he doesn't fucking sound as good as Ian Curtis.

He does, however, deliver a terrific performance in the film.

  • @khanflesh IMO he couldnt made a better job...

  • He look's slightly similar, but not a dead ringer, just same facial expression's and move's. Vocal's aren't bad but he could do with sounding more like Curtis than on here. Paul Banks would do a grand job if only..

  • well, the original one, was better!

    /watch?v=ihCbVT637aM

    :-D

  • i live in salford/manchester its a shit hole

  • Radio, live transmission

  • Танцуй бля под звуки радио!!!!

  • @3409308 - right on!! :|

  • kudos to sam riley .... don't think anyone could've done a better job.

  • @xtoffee92x Paul Banks would be even better. Pity he doesn't act.

  • One question , why his wife looks like dissapointed to Ians perfomance?

  • absolutely brilliant lyrics by curtis

  • the singer from joy division is so fucken gay

  • @robdig1919 Dise el maricon hablando mieda

  • @robdig1919

Your such a fucking retard. You will never have the ability to appreciate music like this. Joy Division was a great band and Ian Curtis was a great singer. The only person is gay is you.

  • what movie is this?

  • great song great performance and movie

  • they played shadowplay in real life

  • this is a movie about the band ?

  • @ram29jackson yes

  • @ram29jackson

    yes it is

  • I think the actual New Order band should take Sam Riley as their new singer and come back as Joy Division xD

  • @8ttavinius haha that would be rad but disrespectful imo at the same time, trying to replace ian with someone that looks and sounds like him. no1 can replace ian just impossible. good idea though.

  • @deshirolla1 you're right...Ian is Ian and no one cen replace him. R.I.P.

  • @8ttavinius no way dude

  • @8ttavinius Just wouldn't happen.. like saying Paul Banks should leave Interpol and join New Order! Banks would do the best ever vocal as a replacement for Ian BUT it would never happen.

  • @8ttavinius That would make me sooooo happy...

If, you know, the band hadn't sworn to end Joy Division if anything ever happened to any of them. Hence, New Order is a different, inferior, thing.

  • @8ttavinius Fuck you

  • @8ttavinius sam riley nailed it in his own way! was great movie to watch

  • @8ttavinius You got that right mate!

  • @8ttavinius Heck they should. The Germs did with Shane West after "What We Do Is Secret" came out about the band. It would be awesome if I say so myself.

  • @8ttavinius I wish man. The germs did the same with Shane West with What We Do Is Secret. I hope that would happen.

  • @8ttavinius bleedin hell thats a brilliant idea! never thought of it!

  • Wish I could dance like this...

  • correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't it "Shadowplay" for they first tv show?

  • @OnclePop right you are

  • @MrDildoBagginsIII aaahh thank you, so my memory is still working good ^^

  • @OnclePop yes

  • Muito Bom!

  • God Sam CAN ACT! I can´t fucking believe it was one of his first jobs as an actor !

  • he screams good...

  • he kinda sounds like ian but when he used to sing with his regular high pitched voice cuz ian voice on stage when they were JD was really really deep and sam riley doesnt quite get there but its good though

  • @0mgwtfbbq21 I agree, Sam isn't bad but there are other vocalist's who sound much more similar to Curtis then him. Paul Banks can hit the low note's.

  • shadowplay r_____r xD HAHAH :D

  • Only just noticed, they're not playing Shadowplay

  • Not just as good as the original performance but not a kick in the balls away from it. Great acting. Also the only version I have on favourites as the original gets spoiled by that usless talentless fanny Bono speaking over the top of it.

  • everything was great exept for the guitarist. XD

  • it was a great movie,. if you knew anything about them or the disorder s Curtis suffered from

  • I love this film

  • I agree, he sounds almost just like ian.

  • @camedmondson Not bad could be better though.

  • he sounds amlost just like ian

  • the movie got it wrong they played shadowplay

  • @doctorwho43 yeah

  • One of my fave films and song!! :)

  • that actor is so much like ian curtis

  • I wonder why on this film they played transmission, in real life JD played Shadowplay.

But this performance aint bad though.

  • @FroznPanda Corbijn explained that he did that to put together the two performances in one, he mixed both.

  • the art of cinema gone horribly, sickenigly wrong.

    what a mockery.

  • very good actor

  • sam riley and samantha morton were amzing in this film

  • top notch

  • I almost thought it's real Ian

  • these fuckers where WAY ahead of there time

  • Top acting from Sam Riley and the others. Love this Band. Love this movie.

  • sam riley gave a truely exceptional performance worthy of ian curtis' memory and enduring legend, a very dynamic, well researched and full-blooded acting that informs and enthralls, he really invested his heart and soul in this and is a great tribute to the man, the music and the era, the film is a modern classic already, in my humble opinion .

  • control is possibly on of the best films ive ever seen in my life

  • i watched the film last on film 4,its so sad good talent very good bad..

  • Wonder why they didnt do shadowplay, because it was the original song played on that show

  • @james23678 transmission was a more famous performance

  • i actually like the songs from the movie a lot more then the originals ...

  • @Inidiom jeje im agree.

  • So fucking great!!! Nice performance for the movie, transmits the feeling alright

  • this kid has an amazing voice! he actually sounds better in the chorus than Curtis. Though he lacks the charisma..

  • @emouch1 No way! not better than Ian.

  • pff q rola ......pff q hombre...yeeah!!!

  • shut up the l3er you probably wouldn't have done a better job

    stop criticizing

  • make Joy Division #1 in the UK for 18-05-10, it will have been 30 years since Ian passed, push Love will tear us Apart to the top, there is a facebook group

  • olly can

  • Am I the ONLY person that thinks this is taking the mick?????????????

  • 2sugarkaneandchloe.if you think control is taking the mick i wonder what you think about 24hr party people then ? I think its fuckin mockery! at best.

  • Mockery! Yes!!!

  • S'not so very close to the troof ;-)....

  • a sightly mister

  • WOW. Whoever that actor is, he's giving a great performance as Ian Curtis. He's got all the weird dance moves and facial expressions exactly right.

  • hes HOT!

  • 2scaryfolks I agree he gave a great performance ,but thats what it was, he certainly didnt get everything 'exactly' right .I wonder why some people say Ians dance movements where weird or crazy, for me they are a unfettered/elemental expression of

    life force.just great!

  • @mauriewm that is exactly the reason why people think they are so strange. how often do you describe someone's actions as "unfettered/elemental expression of life force", dude.
