@mattwatchesvids i guess i shoulda said hipster subculture perhaps - the aspersions cast on this chunk of the social landscape has me tend to avoid the term - but the fact you call it avant illustrates my point - this music is naive - outsider art is the cultural ghetto he would be slotted into in art circles - music has no term that i am aware of - the indie rock set are the ones that tend to take these sorts of musics in - if anything the indie rock set are also changing hip-hop thank god !

@endofthetunnel66 Well I've been to raves for electronic musicians and I've been to a Dan Deacon concert and I can say that he embodies what avant is, on the cutting edge. I can see this being the next era of edm. I'd much rather hear the rave douches listening to someone like Dan Deacon than Borgore or something. I mean, I know he's an electronic musician and I know he encourages lots of dancing, so I'd say that means he plays EDM, he's just way ahead of everyone else.
