Actually, 40 is the right number. Tvdotcom has it listed as 39 because it aired before "B-DaWinds of Change" but chronologically this is right. You can tell because the preview is of episode 39 (which was labeled as 40 on the website). Also, Mai and her group are shown at sea here and do not reach land until the next episode, "They Call Me Yamato."
