  • Let me clarify for everyone who HASN'T been turkey hunting.

You shoot it in the torso with a bow just like you would a deer and other game.

You shoot in the head with a shotgun.

You're crazy if you hunt them with a rifle.

  • You can tell they are nebraskan Oh Fuck! lol (i am nebraskan too)

  • 1:56 gets right to the kill.

  • Hi, nice video...How many Lbs do you need for hunt the Turkey?

  • @frivru Wih,biw its 40Lbs.

  • damn perfect shot

  • going on my first turkey hunt so can anyone tell me where to buy a turkey call but not online any sporting goods stores

  • dicks,mcsports,bass pro shops,cabelas,gander mountain...mayb walmart....buy a box call...easy to learn

  • cause u got a youth model... yah i've shot both like the recurves and longbows though, like the recurves cause they're shorter though

  • i dont use a mathews....thats y it is easy for you...can you kill a deer almost every time you get in range of one...probly,,,i shoot a parker sidekick xp..it is a youth bow...short draw lengths,...50 lb draw wt....

i can hit a basketball from 60 yards with it..pretty hard, but i can...still,i cant kill deer from that far,and i wouldnt try...i have to get in close to get good penetration and a quick kill...it is tougher for me

  • dude i do not use a compound where are you getting this from no it's not easy for me i can see my arrow rotating its so slow

  • o,damn..i read that "donohuet7" guys comment because i couldnt find urs..haha

ive shot my dads recurve (bear)

and i could get several 4-6" groups at 20or 25 yards..i dont remember, but i can tell you that if you have been shooting a recurve for a long time then it would b really easy .. with compounds u have to worry about string creep, torque, pins(which to use and where to place it),etc.

if u were using a recurve all do is pull it back and use instinct and let it fly..no stress

  • @fishnkid1923 yah we have to worry about stuff like that too we can tweak the string a lil with our shooting glove or finger tab.

now that i've started shooting more accuracy doesn't seem that tough anymore its the choosing the distance or conditions to take a shot at a deer where they aren't going to jump the string. cause like i said i can see my arrow rotating its so slow

  • @fishnkid1923 plus i made a target to

outdoor olympic specs for ranges up to 90 meters and its pretty fun i was shooting at like 70 yards or so and its really hard with wood arrows HAHA :-p

  • cool...bet you didnt have to worry about any pins...haha

  • @fishnkid1923 no haha i shot like 2 feet high above the target lol

  • haha,i made a bow a few days ago from an oak sapling and paracord....it is not very good,i MIGHT b able to hit a rabbit from 15-20 yards..hav u killed anything with ur recurve or watever u have

  • @fishnkid1923 nope got it in january so i've been

just shooting the target and made some foam

things to throw in the air and shoot with my flu flus

shot some suckers bowfishing with this old

compound i have on sunday though :-p

  • i would NEVER shoot an arrow up in the air...well,never again...haha,those suckers go HIGH...i cant even see them when they go up

  • @fishnkid1923 ha these only go like 70 yards look up a flu flu vid

  • @fishnkid1923 exactly why traditional is better.. plus we do have issues. String issues, wooden limb issues, things like that..

    compounds are lameeeee

  • compounds arent "lame"...

and they are not easy either...

300 win mags with 10 power scopes are easy..the reason bowhunting is challenging is mostly just getting in close...

I shoot a compound and it is not very hard to get good groups, but compounds are different than recurves..compounds are more precise, you have to know,or geuss the range to know where to put the pin,it causes stress that makes you miss sometimes..recurves are mostly instinct,no stress, draw and shoot

  • @fishnkid1923 well they are easier than recurves. im pretty good with a recurve so im good for hunting within around twenty yards.. most people with compounds can shoot up to 60 + yards at deer and such... i gave my compound away and never looked back :)

  • i hope you know that most people DONT shoot at 60 yards..or farther..

the longest shot i will take at a deer is 40 yards...and im pretty good.

about 75% of shots are under 40 yards...

    btw i killed my deer from 7 yards this year...my first deer..and first with a bow...and first buck...and i killed a coyote from 40 yards a week later...(with bow)

I am trying a recurve this year...i practice with it everyday,i dont have a shooting tab,and i can hit milkjugs at 20 yards..haha,need a tab!!

  • @fishnkid1923 i dont like tabs. I would go with a three fingered glove if i were you.. much more comfy.. dont even notice it, and it stays on no problem.. they're also pretty cheap.. i got mine several years ago and i think it was like ten bucks or so

  • omg! 2:43 Adam Sandler!!!

  • what draw weight were you using?

  • great shot man...haha i like the slowmotion gobble

  • Great videos! How about a little info, like distance, wind. Do you have video of the recoveries? Again, great videos, great shots, thanks for posting.

  • real men use wooden bows.

  • YES! I'm making my own bows right now!

  • @0ldSandwich

    fuck wit

  • @0ldSandwich

and get trophies on sgl :D

  • new archery is SOOOOO gay might as well just get the shotgun, no challenge

  • new archery as in compounds, sights, vibration dampeners, etc.

    traditional all the way!!!

  • @hitshitthefan ..crossbows are no challenge...compounds do have a challenge...if you have shot a recurve for a long time then it would be the same as using a compound...

  • nuh uh dude no way, when u can pull back and hold it there for 10 minutes, line up peep sight with pins, have 300+ fps, vibration dampening accessories, and range finder.... no challenge.

  • have you tried...lets see you hold it for 10 minutes,,,,

    ahahhahahahhahahah

i bet you couldnt kill a deer with a compound bow in 2 weeks of hunting...SO DONT SAY ITS NOT A CHALLENGE,IT IS...MAYB NOT AS MUCH AS A RECURVE BOW,BUT ITS NOT A WHOLE LOT EASIER EITHER

  • LOL u and i both know i was jk about the 10 minutes thing c'mon. and yes both challenging but when the average guy with a compound can take game 15-20 yards further than the most experienced trad guy would dare. not much comparison

  • how far would an experienced trad archer dare to take game?

  • 30 is really pushing it because most recurves and longbows will do about 150-180fps so a deer or whatever thats watching could probably easily jump the string. seeing that deer jump the string on 300+ fps compounds all the time

  • my bow shoots 210 fps...its seriously not that much easier... i can see what ur sayin tho...mathews bows are pretty easy to kill deer with..

but, have u ever shot or do u shoot a compound?

  • do you shoot,or have ever shot a compound?

  • I have hunted with a recurve my entire life until this year when I got a mathews and it is way way way easeir than my bear recurve

  • @Donohuet7 see like i've been trying to tell him

there is like a mountain of challenges with trad gear than with any compound

  • @hitshitthefan If you want a real challenge, why don't you chase him down and kill him with a stick? people who talk about "challenge" are mostly full of shit,if you want it to be challenging, get rid of the camo, jumo out of a tree, and strangle the deer to death

  • @ViralMessiah haha! ok whatever.. good luck turkeys have been clocked running 27 mph.

  • great shot i started turkey hunting last year with my recurve do u have any tips.

  • lol nice wt country u in

  • that looks like soooo much fun to hunt there-fantastic shot- turkey hunting is te best with the adreline rush hearin them comin in!

  • Good shot! Keep posting kills!

  • testina di mela marcia

  • for how long have you been training with bow and arrow? i got a compound bow and it looks really fun and challenging hunting with a bow!

  • Excellent shot - great job guys.

  • why a turkey? :D

  • what state u in? cuz thats some beautiful open country

  • Nebraska

  • @tlclum Nebraska is beautiful

  • My blind has a 72" recurve center ? But I think I have not shot out of it enough. Geez poeple leave strange comments on these hunting vidoes!!

  • ? Are you shooting out of a double bull bling\d? I am having trouble shooting my recurve out of mine because my top limb tip hits the roof, it is a 60" recurve, any advice!! ltr

  • Yes it's a DB. You probably need the Recurve DB, which is taller than a standard DB.

  • I dunno. I love archery but I dont understand what the fun is in shooting animals and listening too them scream in pain. does nothing for me. I'd rather shoot at coke cans. guess that makes me the odd one out hey?

  • No disrespect but I have never heard an animal scream in pain. Nor do I know anybody who would enjoy that. I respect the fact that you would rather shoot at coke cans, many of my friends are the same way.

  • I watched another bow hunting video of a bragging how he got his first bow kill. It was a coyote. He shot it in the dead with an arrow. after reading all the comments I'd say that 98% of the hunters were angry at the guy for shooting the dog in the head. apparently it causes it alot of pain. To me that says that majority of the hunters have respect for the animals they hunt.

  • "To me that says that majority of the hunters have respect for the animals they hunt."

    That's a fact

  • @edstar83 that seems contradictory, if you hit the head you, can break into the brain, and almost make it lights out instantly

  • @elgostine an arrow isn't a bullet, its not going to go clean through the skull for instant kill. anyway thats what another hunter said. I wouldn't know. I love achery. I love my recurve. but i've never shot at an animal and I never plan on doing so. peace.

  • @edstar83 eah,.... my interests of the bow lie in the same legue as the windlass, the matchlock and th culverin.

  • great shot, never saw a tom that fired up, ol' boy is goin at it like a frustrated jake!!! congrats.

  • Awesome vid....

It's not a traditional bow hunt though...i was expecting a long bow or recurve.

    Still awesome though.

  • Thanks but it is a Bassett recurve.

  • In the time it took you to actually shoot the darn bird, I could have driven from that field to the nearest Mcdonalds and got a chicken happy meal. :)

Ok ok good shot in the end though!

  • pwned

  • shoot the damn thing already

  • thats a pretty bird

  • Jajajaja!! Me gustó tu respuesta!! Pobre pavo nada!! Delicioso el pavo no?? Nice shot dude!!!

  • this kinda looks like nebraska. Is it?

  • Yes

  • cool

  • Excellent fucking shot dude. Well done!

  • DUDE, nice shot man that was cool!

  • big turkey, good shooting, and nice vid

  • what was the draw weight on that?? and what can a 30 lb draw kill and from what distance???

  • MAN! I wish I was in that blind with you guys and my compound!!!

  • Nice video! i am pretty sure out ancestors did not run into the middle of a field and try to scare what they were hunting before shooting what they needed to survive. People care way to much about what other people do if you dont like hunting then dont watch the video you have no place watching. huntung was done way before any of your bitching and will still be there after you bitching!!!!!

  • Dude - I thought Anti Hunters only Bitched about Rifles - now there Bitching about BOWS???

They say "Use a Bow Pussy" and we do.

So whats going to make you Happy? How about... you invent a tool we can use to hunt.

Never mind - you'll just talk crap about that tool after a little while.

There really is NO pleasing you, is there?

  • i agree with gnothean. the turkey never stood a chance. and with all the gear the modern humters use now you'd think they're working as goverment spies.

  • Nice shot! Hopefully my country will allow bowhunting too :) and for you people who talk shit about hunting, I hope you will find out how good this is for the nature!

  • Why do modern hunters need blinds, scent lock clothing, feeders, wireless cameras and all the other BS technology to successfully stalk and slay an animal? Are all modern hunters that incompetent, and that cowardly? Your ancestors are either hee-hawing roflao at you, their nitwit decendants - or they are hiding their faces in shame and disgust.

You didn't earn that animal, you just bought your way close enough to kill it. It never stood a chance.

Lots of sport in that - NOT!

  • If you call modern hunting using a recurve bow (made in a home garage, not a factory)...

No scent lok, feeders, or wireless cameras. Did you just feel like ranting? Even our ancestors used blinds.

Thank God America is a live and let live country where we are all free to pursue whatever we'd like. Nothing here was outside of our laws.

If you disagree with our hunting method, well, I guess that's your prerogative.

  • great!

  • good eating!

  • nice hunt

  • that was good. i shoot them through the back like i was aiming at their beard, cuz if you dont hit the spine, then you hit all the vitals, the farthest i had one run was 10 yards this year

  • where is this?

  • Nebraska

  • it's called authenticity.

  • Thanks. Totally agree, it was unintentional.

  • BOOM nice shot

  • nice broadheads!!

  • nice shot

please message me back some information on the bow

  • congratulations for the kill!

does anyone knows how much a hunting bow costs?

  • I got a nice "Sammick hunter Take-down" for a little under 300 canadian. I love it, it's got a 60 pound draw on it at like 28" and I've taken enough rabbits with it. Sammick's the brand and Hunter take daow's the model

  • mathhews one of the best bows you can get but a matthews xfire is around 600 i suggest PSI deer hunter series for the beginner around 200

  • a good bow can cost anywhere from $150 to $700...but don't spend over 250 on your first bow, that's too much money to put into one unless you know what you're going to do with it and all that

  • nice turkey

  • Damn, that was a great shot. Here in NE, we have turkeys but they are hard to hunt. Good job. Hunters are the only reason we have the forests left that we do. A ton of money goes into conservation and it can be years before the avg guy gets a kill...Wild turkey is 100% organic and excellent if cooked right. Vote pro gun!

  • nice shot! hard hunting with a bow?

  • Heavoc must either be a militant vegan or ..... hypocrit. ;)

    Nice shot.

  • good shot.

  • Hey man Nice SHOT!!!

Was it instinctive shooting or does your bow accept sights?

Very nice tom. Was it a Rio Grande?

    Merriam's?

    Where was it at?

  • Thanks man.

    Nebraska, Merriam, instinctive.

  • another meal for thanksgiving :)

  • nice shot fella

  • True hunting! It's never boring.

  • Yummy. Adam Sandler look-a-like. You guys DID eat it right?

I have this crazy feeling, it was for fun...>.>

  • Hopefully it was for food.

  • Roc, Unless your name is Thurston Howel III, you eat what you kill. 100% organic meat. It is a good pasttime to build friendship and bonds with your kids.

  • Anyone getting bored the shot is at 1:50

  • It did run a little long. Vids need to be quick and to the point or people won't watch them.

  • I would of made the shoot at 0:24 good angle and everything

  • it was cool to watch it sit there and gobble at 5 yards anyhow, if it were that long without it gobbling the whole time right there, i'd agree with you

  • sweet shot

  • nice video. love the slow motion replays! good shootin.

  • nice shooten Adam Sandler

  • look like a more redneck version of adam sandler but nice shot.

  • Who makes your bow?

  • This was a recurve made by Gary Basset of Henderson, CO. Other bows in my videos are made by Keith Chastain of Lakewood, and John Gottshalk of Louisville.

  • I have a 47 pound longbow (more of a hybrid recurve/longbow kind of thing) made by Bryan Holley. Congratulations on the bird.

  • I am very familiar with his bows. You have a good one. Thank you

  • ahhh adam sandler

  • have you ever hunt with crossbows?

  • Never

  • turkeys are frikin ugly

  • haha adam sandler hunts!

  • He does kind of look like adam sandler

so whats the next movie lol.

  • Watch my Spring Turkey Hunting 2, same bow same arrows...I don't know why the arrow flew bad this shot.

  • Exactly

  • LMAO

you look exactly like adam sandler

holy crap are u adam sandler?

    lol

  • is your bow tuned correctly? your arrow was all over the place, good shot!

  • I don't know why this arrow flew bad, watch Spring Turkey Hunting 2 in my videos, it's the same bow and the same arrows. They are usually just fine.

  • hey adam how about you make it a head shot next time lmao

  • hahha it does look like adam sandler

  • NUDIE MAGAZINE DAY!

  • can't hear a damn thing he's whispering

  • i use my 12g i dont have my bow license yet i want to get it though

  • what a tom. he sure was fired up

  • How strong has to be the bow in order to hunt birds?

  • Mate a standard 50-70 pound bow is heaps i have a PSE Nova witch is a entry level bow and its grate would be more than enough for birds i should think.

  • LOL omg! I was just thinking it looked like Adam Sandler but you guys all beat me too it. Adam you murderer! Looks like adam enjoys the odd bit off dipping tobaco too. Obviously it isnt him, before someone tries to rip my head off about it...

  • omg! you got that gobbler that close!?!?! well, then again, u were in a blind! and yes, it does look like adam sandler, but it is not him though..

  • holy shit it does look like adam sandler but it isnt

  • mine was bigger
