first of all: great show you guys, so glad i found it... but i didnt get what that with the mirrior was..... if i can see the face of the speaker, that means what?
First time ever that I watched a video by you guys; just discovered your channel. Also the first time ever that I watched a video on Youtube lasting longer than ten minutes, so that's says something about the amount of quality in your vids. :) Thanks a lot for the info and fun you gave me. :)
Lord tunderin Jayzus. You guys heard of editing? Seriously, there is great info here but a bunch of useless talk too. You guys are not funny. I've taught in the creative field for 27 years and if I did a wandering talk like this my students would run out the door.
yes this show is special indeed. id like to have a similar source for the creativity or record making process. I don't expect that from a mixing programme however not from this program. but another would be great, if anyone knows about such a thing.
Thank you all for this! I am just about to finish up my rooms and the information here is priceless. Herb, keep up the good work. keep carrying Dave he needs the help :P
What a great interview, it's awesome that Bob kind of directed the flow of conversation and was really passionate about getting some good info out there
PS: This show was totally helpful! Initialy after the end of this episode I ran into my living room and changed the location of my home hifi speakers ^^ now It's a lot better actually: more defined pseudo center, better stereo image and a little less flabby bass.
What about a ITL abou "Reverb and its uses in Mixing"? I know there was a little bit about reverb on the wideing technique ITLs, but I mean using reverb for depth, realism, separation and cohesion; the different kinds of Reverb etc.. Mr. Pensado uses the Bricasti and I'm sure he uses convolution reverb so he would be well prepared for such a show, wouldn't he?
I totally disagree with the person who said this wasn't helpful. Just listening to someone who really knows what he is talking about is helpful for a new guy like me. It makes you conceptualize sound in a more tangible way as Bob explains. I wish Bob had just a bit more grace towards Dave (as Dave does his own guests), but his info was top notch. I have lots of changes to make in my office studio. Dave, you're the man. Your humility makes your info come across much more loudly!
This was great info with great timing for me, as I'm preparing to build a new studio. However, I wish Bob would have mentioned the fact that he deals Focal products; it always bothers me when people fail to mention they're selling what they're recommending. Makes me wary...
P.S. I measured the length between my rear wall and each speaker and moved the L monitor back six inches which seems to have a most excellent effect on the imaging in this new room I'm in! :) ;)
wow, its so hard to make a room heading towards a perfect listening space, where does using a mix in the headphone work with all this? Like between the monitors and the 'space' in the headphones? Is this really a true compromise?

Is it just me or Pensado looks stoned in every single chapter?
Lgw1984 5 months ago 21
@Lgw1984
i think he looks exhausted rather than stoned, plus medical problems he was referring to should be taking toll
but this episode is exceptional

Listen to 34.30... about directionality of the speakers.
That's why you need a uniform directivity (less reflections) and an evenly lowering power approximation (no colouration in reflected sound).
Not many manufacturers know how to do this, but Genelec, Amphion and Neumann understand it.

from what i have learned bass absorption is the biggest thing most should worry about

Hi guys KRK ERGO does this job perfect... Since I started using it in my untreated room it changed my mix for good.
Before I keeps rolling of my bass cos they seem too much but since the ERGO once it's on Focus Mode I hear exactly how small by bass is.
