Ultimate respect for this guy .. I was in the British Army at the same time as this although I never went to the Falklands .. I know guys that are now in their 60's whose lives have been all but ruined with PTSD ... The fact that more British soldiers have killed themselves since this conflict than ever died in it shows the lack of support they got after the event ... This guy left the Falklands 30 years ago but it will never leave him ...
The Argentineans we defend our national sovereignty we felt, it, we fought because us ours….meanwhile you never knew because fought, nor where they were those islands, they were because them control a drunkard the Tacher. without North American aid they serian verguenza world-wide.
Ththefirst did u get that? I dont make a point of insulting veterans of any war, if u bother to read youl see i posted an apology when i read it,an idiot put it there who thought it was funny....i didnt, tjats why i posted apology, u say im not good enough for their air, you dont even know me lad or some of the campaigns ive been in or with whom. So u stay behind ur little keyboard boy, best place for u, my hat goes off to that marine, nothing else !!!!!
The first that was an idiotic comment put o by a friend whos jus that. An idiot.as for what i know i joine the british army from scool and served with the legion too, i dont make a habit out of isulting veterans.if i could remove it...i would !
@Harkenish What do you know? Hiding behind your keyboard, playing medal of honour. You are pathetic and are not fit to breathe the same air as this guy.
Alot of guys who come back from Afghan these days turn out to be fine and cope, I am yet to meet or see a man, out of all the veterans I know who returned from the Falklands to not be suffering a great deal
@crouchtrac prob because of the nature of the fighting - the falklands was a conventional war, with bayonets, other soldiers, just like them, not faceless terrorists.
@THthefirst A lot of the lads they were up against were youngsters as well, that must be hard to cope with when you realised the guy you just slotted is half your age
28 yrs on Lou i have loads of respect for you , i joined up in 83 did 14 yrs and ws a sgt but never saw what you did . i suppose you will take things to your grave you wont talk about , you were one of corporates faces that inspired so many of us to join up , lou armour you served us so fuckin proudly i wish i could have been there with you . a true bootneck
@diegoarg46 This is utterly sickening. Despite the testiomony given here of what happens in war, there are still some armchair heroes like that who continue with their puerile imperialist aggression. If only you, the armchair hero could change places with the Argentinian hero officer mentioned here.
just like to ask a question , whos role in the milltary is it to clear up after the battle? do they have certain people for the job , or is it basicly everyone who took part helped out ...
r.i.p to everyone who passed away during this war.
@rheathhall I think the Royal Logistical Corps Pioneers do a lot of it in the British army. Hence why they're nicknamed "GraveDiggers". I might be wrong though
@rheathhall difficult one to answer, used to be the pioneer corps (nick named dullards) but now who ever is there in Iraq 2003 we'd fight through then go back, for the sake of hygiene we'd bury or move any dead marking graves where poss. The Iraqis didnt usually carry I.D. cards so finding family later was difficult
@ollie272 no but if those in power didnt send soldiers into warzones at the drop of a hat or cause wars as in the Falklands then many of my friends would still be alive today. Your right no one made me join the Paras but the reality of war is a different thing its like wanting a baby but when it comes along all shitty nappies, sleepless nights nothing can prepare you for parenthood not that i have any children. No training can prepare you for the smell the fear and the killing
This interview brought home how traumatic and shocking is the reality of war. Nobody should ever glamourise or glorify war. This man was obviously still suffering from post- traumatic syndrome. RIP to all the soldiers who died in the Falklands
What did he expect? What does he think armies do? If there is no God and we are merely evoled apes then how is this any different than a lion killing a zebra. If there is a God and he doesn't want us killing each other, then don't join the army.
A fireman's job is to put out fires, a salesperson's job is to sell, and a soldiers job is to kill the enemy within a certain set of "rules".
Poor bastard. My dad was out there, it was hell. War is not like the movies. People die, and they are people like you and me. We say the ones who come back are the lucky ones, but looking at this bloke.......is he lucky to have seen and done what he did???? RESPECT.

The worthless leaders of all nations casually order other people's children off to war while they enjoy the spoils.

Quite clearly a comment that wasn't thought through from yourself?
Firstly lions kill zebras for food and survival.
Men and women in armed forces around the world do these things for OUR survival!
Get a heart for crying out loud what these young lads had to go through was awful, can you say you have ever had to do anything similar?
probably not.

very moving the true realities of war "kill or be killed" if only the politicians could see the horrors of war the just perhaps wars may be avoided.
R.I.P all those on both sides who died in this war.
