  • i enjoyed this vid

  • Most comments here aren't familiar with lean or cell implementations (or manufacturing for that matter) obviously. From an Industrial Engineer's perspective, this was well done. Operator burnout doesn't happen if the employee is engaged in the improvements and is rotated frequently, as needed.

  • When did 'Lean' mean 'never having to think"?

  • I just witnessed a human automaton

  • Nice example of a lean cell, there's some great Autonomation, and looks like some of the fixtures could be error proofing as well.

  • Hey i dont know why people here are giving this video bad comments??

i work in New Zealand and i Design Electronics ,so in NZ crap pay, get treated like a non social Geek, alot of stress Shit.. il be happy to work in that factory!!

Ship me off to china any day !!

Hint hint to the guy who posted this Video!!

  • efficient job and best synchronized. The machines also sould be serviced frequently for sufficient output.

  • 0 safety and 0 consideration shown to operator ergonomics, high fatigue factor.

  • What a horrible job! Working without seeing an end .. fuck it

  • wait until the chinese unionize

  • Employees doesn't stick knives in their eyes or walk in front of moving cars. If they voluntarily choose to work, its because they will be better off then they were before. Remember production doesn't create poverty, it inherits it temporarily on the process of the employee moving on.

  • I'm afraid I'm on the side of the employees here - fine if you want to do that 8 hours a day, but how soul destroying. I would be ready to leave and never come back after an hour of that.

  • I work on 4 cnc lathes and a screw machine. I plan my work load to make it easy for myself. Keeps me busy, time goes quick and I do get paid more. There's always someone out there looking for your job if you don't want it. So whistle why work. ☺

  • She's kinda cute, and at least she gets to stop and play some music on that pipe every so often...

  • Hi, some heated comments here, I worked at Nissan and it is this sort of speed however it is quite well paid. Yes you're making money for the bosses, you're also making money for yourself so what's the problem? If you want to keep the profit become self employed, if you want a better job go to college and get one don't sit and whine.

  • I do not understand the harsh comments, like "this is slavery" etc. Do you think it is always easy and fun to earn money like Justin Bieber or Paris Hilton? Millions of people do craft works.

  • She looks smiling, very happy to run from one place to another one ! like an animal in a cage, it is such a shame. I would like to see the fat american shareholder doing this only for 30 minutes !!!!

This is not lean, it is absurdity and slavery. I have been a specialist of lean for the last 20 years, I would never accept this as a model of lean. Not in a civilized world.

  • @lennoxeurope The concept is okay, If, and thats a big IF you multask in moderation or lightly. But this type of thing always ends up to be maxed out for profits. Its worse if the pay is low, but I would think in this case her pay is average. Not high, just average.

  • Excellent video. 100% machine utilization is only preferable with general purpose equipment, ie. large expensive machinery that can run multiple parts. These look like small special purpose machines.

  • %100 machine utilisation is preferable to %100 employee utilisation. looks like you are saving cents but wasting dollars ...

  • Je suis moi aussi ouvrier en France,c'est différent, et le jour où on me demande ça je sors la Kalachnikov.Pauvre femme, comme un rat en cage,et sa dignité qui s'en préoccupe.

  • it's seems a U department like Ohno designed

  • Ivan do you have the video of the production line after the lean aplication, I see both videos in a conference of lean manufacturing but I don have it.

  • U-shaped cell. It looks like about 9 processes in the cell. One piece flow. There was no WIP building up between process steps. I never saw her lift anything heavy. She didn't have to reach low or high. She doesn't appear to be sweating or breathing heavily. There is a lot of walking. She might benefit from some ergonomic floor pads. All processes had the work waiting on her. You might have faster exit rate with two people rotating unless Takt time doesn't need a higher rate.

  • 1) The operator is the bottleneck.

    2) The operator has to be fit. Not everybody can walk all day.

    3) This particular operator seems to work faster than average presumably because of the camera presence.

Lean Manufacturing does not make it easier on the operators. They are still expected to expend the same amount of energy and earn the same amount of money. The only benefit is for the company.

  • Gente negativa y guebona.

    muy bien hecha la celda

  • Nice video. Shows the basics of work cell very well.

  • What a joke....I would quit that job ASAP

  • This is a good basic example of 1 person cell with man/machine separation. It would be good to see the "auto eject" (chaku chaku) at the end of the operation. Pace is ok (not very quick at all). I don't know why the negative comments. People in the big 3 work harder in some places. What is the next process, and why not connected?

  • Where is the time for employee development? I'm sure this person would want to learn other aspects of the business.

  • Employees rotate during the day, this allows them to work on problem solving activities that give them new skills, like project management and team work

  • @ivandhernandez

You are kidding, right? Have you thought about the meaning of the words you use?

Explain "Project management" or "team work" or "problem solving" in the context of the work those people do. These are just big words referring to mundane activities those people have to do. The truth is, for this type of work you do not even need to read or speak. All you need is to listen and obey orders/instructions.

What "new skill" means? Here it only means "different sequence of movements".

  • No, employees rotate during the shift. The rotation allows them to aquire new skills and professional development.

  • Lean production is a way to obtain "zero muda". Empleyees are less used respect "fordist" processes...

  • @foxdmulder you tend to reply very fast for an employee that accepts that job which it can give them at least a piece of bread, while in other countried there are no cilizational manufacturing industries. So for what slavery are you talking about? The one that was at 3000 years before our era? Come on be reasonable...

  • @voldemor24 1 person doing the work of 5 at a wage that could be classed as slavery and inhumane and the only gain is like you put it 'a slice of bread'????

With people like you capitalising on people like these, Its no wonder your country and society is tearing its self apart and rebeling against its goverment and banks

and your the one thats asking me to be reasonable?????

  • @foxdmulder what my country is doing about those problems you can see it by it's inflation. And trust me here most of people doesn't want to find a job. It's not that they can't find it.

Anyway, you are talking about a 5 people working in a 2 sq meter point while one person is enough and released while doing it as a routine. Just try to assemble with 5-6 friend a bike. You'll loose managing where and what goes to what place.

But if you'll do it your self you will be able to finish it faster.

  • Big time savings here... You pass it on to your customers and your employee's. I Agree but...

This Employee better be making the money of at least 4 individuals and only have to do this for short periods.. Lean Manufacturing does not mean *Run Ragged* You just cannot do this to your employee's for very long..

  • Please see my other replies on this subject

  • imagine working like a robot for eight hours time for worker revolt

  • please see my other reponses on the subject, they should clarify your concerns

  • Yes because slaves usually work for money...

  • @outdriving08 slaves works for a place to live and something to eat, without the opportunity to gain a better spot in an operation. If you want to see slavery just consider ancient world and how "democracy" was working back then.

Anyway if you want to talk for slavery and employment maybe you don't know the basics of economy and how it works.

  • Impresionante la maximización de las actividades del operador. El único desperdicio que observo es el caminado, pero comparado con todos los desperdicios eliminados a traves de esta celula ha de ser minimo.

  • He said, to shut up numbnuts... on your baselss comments

  • modern slaves, sad but true

  • I agree. This operator should earn more money that other less productive.
