This was a brilliant drama which totally captured Sarah Waters novel for me. The acting and writing were flawless. I predict Baftas next year - hopefully one for Anna Maxwell Martin for her heartbreakingly real performance. I always enjoy sarah waters books because they are simply gripping, emlotional stories which just happen to be (mostly) about lesbian life in times gone by, rather than issue-driven pieces which put more emphasis on the characters sexuality than decent plots. This was great
