Great video! I'm sprouting some seeds right now, and think I'll make some raw granola like this. @AlanSunrider, food is considered raw when the enzymes are preserved. Dehydrating is a way to do this and most people use a temp of 115 +/- to preserve the enzymes while giving food a 'cooked' texture.
Wish I owned a dehydrator. don't think I'd use it much though... dehydrated foods tear my stomach/GI up. I prefer moist foods. This looks very easy to make. THX for sharing!!!
K I made this today, oats, s+d almonds, pumpkin seeds, honey, maple syrup, agave, coconut, and coconut oil. It tasted AMAZING! I kept eating it and eating it, however I put it in the dehyrator and I come home and it smells like actual vomit in my kitchen, like I'm gagging from the smell. So I get over it and try it, and it tastes just as bad as the smell. What the ???
@UGlory you clearly dont Love the show , cuz thats the Trademark and BEST part of the introduction . and YEAH right,, he's gonna change it JUST for you... when all the rest of us enjoy it . its HIS choice to do it , and nobody else has a problem with it apart from the other losers who are lifeless Like YOU . Why would you ever Cook your greens? ,, there so full of life when they raw... altho i did hear sometimes cooking or steaming them would help to bring out certain nutrients you dont get from Raw greens.. NICE GRANOLA RECIPE :D
I probably wouldn't add any sugar based sweeteners like honey... not very healthy, and plus honey kind of freaks me out, after doing some research on the methods of how it's produced--that plus the fact that it's sugar keeps me far away! >.< However this sounds delicious and I'd love to try it date paste/syrup or something :) Genius recipe! :)
awesome recipe. Thanks for showing us how to do it... Hope you don't mind I shared it on my blog. Keep up the great work... btw- while at first I was annoyed by your loud intro, ha ha- there is more than one person who feels that way! well- I have come to appreciate it very much- it fits you- lots of fun.
Made my granola, but didn't have any shredded coconut. After reading about the rancid coconut oil after dehydrating, I left that out, too & really don't miss it. I added a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds to my mix and that worked out really tasty. Had some for breakfast this morning with macadamia nut mylk, bluberries & banana and was pretty awesome!! Just had some dry from the jar and it's so yummy it may not live to see another bowl of mylk. So fragrant & crunchy... yum is all I can say :)
I wish I could eat this. I'd never had allergies till this week when I bought myself some healthy goraw buckwheat granola for breakfast. In two days of eating it for breakfast I was puffed right up with hives and welts all over my body. Any trick to becoming unallergic? this looks so delicious.
@angelcdp If you think the buckwheat is the culprit, you could just leave it out of this grawnola recipe and maybe substitute with something else. I made mine without the sprouted oats as I didn't have any, but I added some chia seeds to the mix. Just try a different combination and you'll be amazed how scrumptious it is :)
their cool. i make granola to, but with plain oatmeal, almonds, cashews, walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, and cinnamon. i grind it up and have it with soy milk. it taste good. some times i'll just make a shake out of it when i'm in a rush
i make raw granola with oatmeal, almonds, cashews, walnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins. i don't dry it, i just grind it in a food processor and have it with soy milk and it taste great.
My coco oil always goes rancid in the dehydrator. Every time! I've tried all brands of raw, cold-pressed virgin coco oil. So I can only use it in fresh recipes...
@reforest4fertility You don't have to dehydrate foods if you don't want to. Eating dehydrated foods require you to drink a lot of water with them so you are just rehydrating them. Some items you dehydrate for storage, otherwise it is for tricking your mind into thinking your are eating 'normal food'. It is a good thing to do if you are new to raw food diets and transitioning, but after awhile you get used to eating raw food whole or non-dehydrated.
I think some warmed, runny raw cacao butter , roughly mixed so it's not completely chocolate, also, chopped walnuts & chopped grapes, would be gr8 to, added to it before dehydrating. Thanx for posting, great vid !!
No, the point is to eat living food. If the temperature is low enough the food will still be alive, just as if it it's sundried. You do not actually cook it in the dehydrator, just change the consistency by removing the water.
I thought at temp.'s at 115 and above start killing enzymes. Wouldn't it be better to dehydrate at a lower temp. for a longer time to get the most nutritional value out of the food?

OK, I just proved you can present a fine granola recipe quickly in my video "bodybuilding granola recipe." I backed up my charge. So what's the ten minutes for again? C'mon!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why did you expand one minute of info into ten minutes! That's an affront to the viewer, a waste of his time and not in the spirit of YouTube. I'll have to post a better recipe in under a minute some day. This is self-indulgent and unwatchable. Get out of the way of the message. Other than that, have a nice day.
I do want to go raw soon. I wonder if a dehydrator is necessary. I mean I wouldn't know what to do with it. I got a blander and I never use it. Raw foods taste best how nature made them and I don't really like foods all blended together.
You may be right . When it comes to conventional cooking Im great with adding flavor and finding it where you least expect it ,but when it comes to raw food , to be honest I dont have a clue . I also need to invest in a dehydrator , I know that would help alot ! Thanx a million for the comment !
its not really a health issue as much as an ethical issue. But there it also has a lower glycemic index and its just safe. And that honey contains a bacteria that secretes toxins and therefore shouldn't be ingested by the youngones. But to tell you the truth, I dont want the toxins either... :)
Thanks for making this, you inspired me to make my own Raw Food Bars instead of buying them at the health food store. It will probably save me a small fortune, so again thanks a lot.
I successfully sprouted using a pizza pan with holes for my sunflower seeds and I used my dehydrator trays with parchment paper for the buckwheat. I just put them on a shelf singularly and rinsed every twice (8 hrs) and they sprouted just perfect. so i'm living proof that you don't have to buy expensive "sprouting" trays. $25??? i don't think so. I also don't have an expensive dehydrator and it works just fine. so if you don't have a lot of money, theres a few tips.
I SO wish I could eat RAW . Im organic , but I just dont like enough things to eat raw . It always looks and smells good , but as soon as I put it in my mouth I just dont like it!
have you ever heard of acquired taste? you can learn to like something. cut down on sugar foods and you will find your mouth more sensitive to naturally sweet raw foods. It really worked for me.
I have often wondered if that was something that really works , I have always heard the phrase , but always thought it was just that . Thankyou for the tip !! I will deff. keep that in mind !
I'm going to try this tomorrow Guys. This will be the recipe to my new raw cereal. I know it will be delicious.

Why bother dehydrating? Like she said, "I wanna dive in already" when it was still moist & sticky. I wanted to dive in too.
Get your minds out of the gutter folks. Don't bother thumbing me down. Wholesome intentions--I promise. ;-)

In addition, once heat has been applied to food, doesnt it compromise the the "raw" state and thereby dispute the whole point of raw foodism?

Honestly the whole dehydrating thing makes me wonder if it's just a glorified oven. I mean, heat is still applied to the food so wuts the dif?

The reason that dehydrators are not such a big deal has to do with the temperature. At abo
