Also I recently hooked my Amiga back up but, alas, I don't have this game... need to work on setting up an old PC tower that I can cram a couple 3.5 floppy drives in so I can make some copies from the ROM images. I still have unused 880kb disks for my Amiga just itching to see some life. :D
Everything about the presentation of old RPGs is so much more inspired. I think it's in spite of the hardware limitations that developers used to try a lot harder to make a fantastic product. I love the look of environment & character design, the musical tone that sets the right mood. It's almost like a lot of game composers now write big complicated scores just because they can. There's no recognizable melodies anymore like in classic games. We all know those songs. Nothing new is memorable.
Im currently playing this for a second time, im only 21 but im obsessed with old games, this has to go onto a cd for my pc to emulate ^.^ currently using an amiga c A500 and have 3 copies of all the abandoned places disks keep the old games coming i say ^.^
Captive is also an amazing game, shame so many people are obsessed now with all the new 3d games, although im studying to produce them aswell ^.^
The game is actually slow going like most other games of that era so its often hard to find the time to play them all through now, i was lucky enough to have had someone map out all the game including dungeons and hidden doors, walls and floors for me so i played through it pretty fast.
But you are right the outland content can get pretty boring at times :p
Im surprised you had trouble, once in the jail follow the path straight to the end hang a right follow to the end go in the door around the fire platformes until you reach a doo telling you there is supernatural heat behind it then kill the fire demon and go up the stairs on your right ^.^
Thank you for your comment it is avourite for me too... it was a huge game in that time.. What a shame it doesn't happened to be so famous as Warcraft...
ok Thank you very much!!!I had played first a demo of Abandoned places then i bought the game , it was so atmosfairic and heroic because of the music, God bless you! =)
This RPG was quite solid but it's just a pity that graphic artist for whom worked for Electronic Zoo couldn't draw properly.

I wish we had more time for the mid-game content. especially the outside random encounters get boring :)
