Starting at 0:55 i love that he uses the same comping as Django in therecording. He also takes other phrases that Django used in that recording and embellishes them. This guys great> truly doing a great rendition of the song
@trapiatapioca He may be playing at the extent of which he can articulate his notes well, but Miles Davis was a rare breed of less is more type soloists. Coltrane and Davis were Kings of jazz from a similar time period, with different types of style. And obviously Davis respected Coltrane since he played with him. You're just generalizing
You think you are being sophisticated, and I really respect that, however in my opinion Stochelo's fast playing gives the tune a whole new and valid 'spirit', its speedy but these fast gypsy jazz lines can be so beautiful.

@trapiatapioca your opinion doesn't take into consideration the fact that the tempo of the song is extremely fast. And these aren't mindless scales that he's playing. My point is, Stochello has worked all his life to be a professional, and professionals should be able to play at any tempo. Also there is no such thing as talent in the world of guitar, or anything. When Stochello picked up a guitar the first time, no way did he figure out minor swing on the spot. Or maybe he did...I bet he did
One of my favorite tunes ever! God, these Gypsy Jazz guys are crazy! Both Stochelo Rosenberg and Bireli Lagrene are favorite guitar players of mine! Very tasteful, speedy, and swinging. Django would be proud!

typically awesome playing from the best right hand in the business! nice vid, where did you grab that one? lol at some of the com's. mistakes at 1:44? dont hear it, maybe one note out on 1:13..lol, but the man is a god and i am a nobody. even stochelo can play a bum note and it sounds good to me. samois soon! yay! :)

@eugenecraddock - "too speed no feeling"? That's just a stupid remark on your part. I always tend to find that people that say these things about musicians like Stochelo are the ones who could never play with the technique. They say it to make themselves feel better about the fact that guys like Stochelo are a million times better than they'll ever be. Don't rip on better musicians just because you can't perform at their level. Spend your time doing something better, like practicing!
After listening to it for 3 times I hear a very minor flaw but nothing really messed up...and yes, I`m quite sure he is human, in fact that`s what makes his playing so impressive^^
@dudeshiya It's called interpretation. He is performing his own feeling of the song. There's nothing wrong with his performance, although I will agree that I like it slower, I wouldn't say he is destroying the song with his playing of it.

Laughin at these posted comments about MinorSwing 's tempo - it has traditionally always been played fast.

Sure, it's ridiculously fast, but that doesn't seem to bother Stochelo.

One of the best Minor Swing's I've heard. Bravo Stochelo. You are a wonderful teacher.

Stochelo, donde has dejado el alma de la canción?. Presentate a alguna carrera de notas, quedarias en buen lugar.

oh my! thats an ultra-fast version! insane!

He plays too fast ... this way he misses the spirit of the tracks.
Playing fast doesn't mean you have talent.
Davis said that real talent comes from sharing emotions with few, effective, notes instead of streams of light-speed scales

I hear lots of feeling too. Stochelo's playing is fast, but it's incredibly nuanced as well.
