you gotta love the Marciano haters, the faults of marciano- clumsy, short, cut easy, old, a bum, fought a list of old bums, amazing that he never lost! how is that possible, the positives are that He had HEART, incredible stamina, a wrecking ball punch, refused to lose, had millions riding on his every fight from friends and family. most importantly UNDEAFETED!!!
To truely appreciate Rock Marciano, I simply say, put on a pair of Boxing gloves and box. Im a boxer my self in the heavy weight, and I constantly think about Rocky in my head, not because I want to copy him because I cant, but how god damn beastly he was.
Anyone whos boxed see rocky different than those who simply watched boxing.
@aky19832001 I agree completely. I am a boxer as well and I appreciate many of these fighters from a different point of view than people who have never been hit or worn the gloves. Rocky beat everyone that was a contender in his time. Another thing, Luis was not "old" compared to many of other great fighters. When they fought he was only 32 I believe. Both fighters were real men. Hats off to them both!
I'm glad he retired before he was about to pass his prime. Btw, there was noting else to prove, he defeated every fighter that was in his era, and also has an impressive record. 49 wins and 43 knockouts. Are you serious??? 43 knockouts???? He won almost all his fights by k.o.
i have done boxing and taekwondo for years and it comes down to how much shame a fighter has built up in his head, and uncertainty of his penius size and what he wants to prove to an audiance, this is what makes these type of people want to hit each other like fools...with some tec. of course. it is quite sad when you first realize this and truly understand the mind of these fellas. go to a gym and observe,it is very funny!I still love fighting sports, it is a good work out.
Some people just want to test themselves against themselves rather than test themselves against others, so part of your theory can be thrown into the wastebasket. I remember when I was doing Kyokushinkai, the feel of your own muscles aching after a session made you feel pretty alive.
Maybe with some guys that's true, but I don't see that with Marciano. His self confidence looks A-OK here. In fact, I don't even see as much anger as I do will. The will of a man who would break through anyone or anything that would stand in the way of his legacy. Even someone who firmly grasps the forbidden secret art of taekwondo.
Modern heavyweights most defiantly could; most of the guys he fought were as big if not smaller than him. Today Rocky wouldn't even be a heavyweight..most cruiserweights would be bigger than him.
He was 5.10 and 185 lbs with virtually no defence..lol get real
you obviously know very little about Marciano. He actually had a pretty good defense. Read up on James Tony who says he copied many of Rocky's defensive maneuvers. He fought out of a crouch and mostly kept his opponents on the defense. He made it to the championship, won it, defended it 6 times and retired with the only umblemished championship record EVER. Not only that, but he still maintains the highest knockout ration EVER.
lol..the funny thing is..the self professed experts on boxing said the same thing regarding him back then..he still went undefeated...nobody else can claim that
@AngryScotProductions Because he was good for his time. many of the fighters he fought were small by today's standard. couple that with his poor defence and it's obvious he wouldn't cut it today.
Look lets look at the facts, he was 5.11 and 180lbs. The cruiserweight limit today is 210, he'd even struggle at that division.
it's easy to see why he's popular, he was a tough guy who always gave his all, and he was involved in some epic battles. But seriously he was to small.
yep. He was living high and took Maxiie lightly and was in generally unfocused. The rematch ,as you know, was one of the most inpressive KOs in HW history. Moral of the story~ Never take a opponent lightly. I doubt any heavy that has ever lived or will ever live could of beat the focused Louis the night of the rematch. That was a history making ko by Joe and so was his 12 years and 25 title defenses. That will never happen again. People that know this sport have Ali and Louis as the very best.
hard to argue your point, luise was at his absolute peak in his rematch with schmelling, I think luise was the best technical heavyweight of all time and he didnt have any weaknesess which was his strenth, i cant say who i think would win between rock and luise both in prime but i think the fight would be very spectacular!
many experts call Louis the best ever. 25 title defenses!!!! Word is he trained for this fight in jis sister's backyard. The man was bald when he fought Marciano.
Louis 12 years ~25 defenses. Marciano champ 4 years~6 defenses. Louis was shot when he fought Marciano. Prime to prime ...Louis KOs Marciano. Joe as old, broke and shot.
thats true...he did but luise had a technical flaw of lowering his left after jabbing which scmelling would use a right hand counter in which he ko'd luise with, luise fixed that problem and won the fight with pure aggression and not leaving the opportunity to be counterpunched, I dont think schmelling would everrrrr ko the rock, i dont think schmelling would land alot of clean shots and if he did the rock has an iron chin anyhow!
joe luis is a better technical fighter than rocky, and was technically better and still faster even when they fought, rocky fought many better boxers than him and he won anyway because of his stamina, aggressivness and vicious punching power!
hey ralphymarciano, you only repeated what i said, i acnowledge that theres a difference between fighting and boxing ability, and others boxing ability wasnt enough to overcome rockys fighting ability, rocky was the most effective fighter in the heavyweight division not because of his technical ability but his physical ability.
Whatever though, I'll let you think your the best at everything...We won't even talk about how the USA had 38 more medals than you Russians did at this years olympics...
You eastern europeans need to learn how to be humble and maybe we'd like you a bit more : ) goodnight it's late here and I won't waste anymore time on you!
Okay honestly if your going to talk about mixed martial arts, ufc whatever you want to call it you gotta talk about Matt Hughs (USA), Anderson Silva (Brazilian), Matt Serra (USA), BJ penn (USA), Georges St. Pierre ( French Canadian) ...The list goes on and on and they are people from all over the planet NOT just Russia...
and again...Boxing has gone soft and you know it. Klistchkos have fought NO ONE worthy...If this was 10 - 15 years ago tyson would kill him, as would evander holyfield.
I'll give you an example of arrogance you rusky prick.
You just said that Klitschko would easily beat some of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time. Are you really saying he would easily beat the greatest boxer of all time? If Ali was from Georgia you'd jerk off to the man! Pathetic!
There is no greatest boxer of all time you noob. Georgia? why the fuck would I support someone from Georgia? did you hear we just had a war? but no, you don't keep up with social issues do you.
Oh right a "war" or was it a complete unwarranted offensive regime? Shut the fuck up you russian fag. Your government is just as full of shit as Bush was.
the studies on rockys punching power determined that his punching power was sufficient to lift 1000lbs of weight 1 ft off the ground, just google "rocky marciano punching power and see the results of the studies on the rock at the university, rocky was a friek of nature with unaturale strenth, more so than all other heavyweights!
"Considering the weight advantage Rocky gave away to opponents, few seem to know the key to his power. Fully believing in his ability to take a punch and confident he couldnt be knocked out, hed wade in to position himself as close as he could get. Then, like lifting a weight, hed plant his muscular, stumpy legs and thighs, and swivel-hip his punch. At that point, he was delivering his full 187 pound, adrenaline-loaded wallop for the lights-out contact." (Nat Tashman)
let's face it marciano never has been beaten, he has a clean record.... let's not talk about who would've should've and could've that just not responsible. he IS the only undefeated champ and he was rocking. RIP rocky marchegiano
thats true..the klitschkos would have a reach advantage over rock, but then again...so did everyone rocky ever fought except a few exceptions, most were faster than rocky and also had a reach advantage and yet he killed em all anyway, they didnt have a advantage in toughness grit and raw determination nor were they better conditioned, rock was just sooo strong, look on google "rocky marciano punching power" there were studies done at a university on why he could punch so hard.
Oh what a surprise a Russian saying the Russian would win...Let me guess...Klitschko would beat any boxer of all time? Pshhh Klitschko isn't even in top 10 greatest heavy weights of all time. Deal with it you fuck.
I don't know anything about boxing because I don't have a boner for Klitschko like you eastern European fucks? You guys are just like the English with Hatton...I stand by my original statement...Frazier, ali, foreman, and tyson would all in their prime beat both kitschkos in their primes.
You know something about boxing and you don't know that the current world champ is not Russian? he would easily beat Tyson, Ali and Fraizier. Foreman might give him some slight problems but he would probably lose.
"Eastern Europeans fucks" jealous much? I know it hurts that we dominate ALL fighting sports. Not my fault you're just weaker.
LOL all fighting sports? Maybe you "dominate" boxing right now because no one gives a shit about it anymore and it's gone soft... (I suggest you search UFC, MMA, ect)
Speaking of dominating boxers...Remember the guy Mayweather Jr.? The greatest pound for pound boxer in the world?
Hey remind me who owned the Ukraine until July 16, 1990?
Face it...Klitschko is dominating a soft list of opponents.
"Eastern European Fucks" has nothing to do with your "dominance" of sports...It has to do with your total biased in every facet of life. No matter what everything you do is better than everything the west does. Your arrogant. Worse than any "pig" American.
MMA and heavyweight boxing are the two most respected sports. Fedor owns MMA and Klitschko owns Boxing. Oh yeah and a few others eg. Ruslan Chagaev, Valuev, Povetkin, Dmitry Salita, Alexander Dimitrenko, Sergiy Dzindziruk (past 3 undefeated) Wladimir Sidorenko, Arlovski, Igor Vovachynchyn and Mikhail Illoukhine.
Sighh the list goes on and on but who gives a fuck when we have Klitschko and Fedor?
I sure would like to apologize for all the racist things I have said here on utube. I was taught to believe that by people I trusted. I'm sorry everybody!
Good video. I read one of the books about him a few years ago and was amazed at how quirky he seemed to have become after his retirement. Interesting man on a personal level.
das war ein harter puncher der härteste den es je gab.Der hätte jeden kaput gemacht auch tyson und ali.U da sagen manche arthur abraham hatt den punch eines schwergewichtlers.!
the real deal! nobody can take his record from him! the ultimate puncher. we should all respect this icon for heart, guts, and willpower! R.I.P. THE GREATEST UNBEATEN CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!
Louis, Walcott, and Archie Moore all said that Marciano was the hardest puncher they ever faced. Moore said it was like getting hit with rocks. Charles said every where he hit you, it hurt, and he never stopped throwing hard punches. Ali said that he was much harder to hit than he expected. Like most champs, he would probably beat some and lose to others. Frazier said Marciano was better than him the later would have loved facing Ali, who was beaten by tough guys Norton and Frazier.
Actually, you're wrong there. Archie Moore said that the hardest puncher he fought was Yvon Durelle not Marciano. Moore fought both Marciano and Ali and afterwards said "Marciano was great but Ali is the greatest" Moore said Ali at his best would probably beat anyone except maybe Jack Johnson. Not that I always agree with Moore but that's what he said.
Archie Moore said that Marciano was "the most determined man" he ever fought; and that apt description best sums up what Rocky was all about, and the reason for his great success despite his physical shortcomings. Rocky Marciano outhustled, outworked, outpunched, and out-toughed his opponents.
In response to kylecyclopdoddsmole.......then why in the hell did nobody beat him? ,he faught the best at the time!!!!! .he retired UNBEATEN UNLIKE ANYBODY ELSE .CAN YOU AWNSER THAT ??,ACTUALLY DONT AWNSER BECAUSE IF IT'S GOING TO BE A DUMM STUPID ASS SHIT COMMENT LIKE THE ONE YOU JUST DID THEN IT REALLY WONT MAKE ANY SENSE ANYWAYS ,WOULD IT?
Joe Louis at his funeral? He said "God has given himself a beuatiful man." Made perfect sense to me. I mean, in the sense that most chirstians believe that God is the one who chooses your time to go.

marciano is a legend and im no questionnaing what he achieved throughout his acreer, but my no means is he the greatest of all time. There are so many fighters in history which would have beat him.
Anyway, I love ROCk too; it's all good. He got through until the end, and he's still unquestionably all-time great -- fought his way through the fires like any champ -- ANY ONE OF 'EM -- is supposed to do; and he came out unsinged. That just ain't easy to do for any/everybody under normal circumstances of world competition. And he's the ONLY guy who can claim it! That's a powerful part of his wonderful reputation itself, of course. Can't nobody "really" knock that, I know. Thanks.
And like some others would also kindly remind them -- a fighter with ONLY 2 wins is STILL undefeated. [wink]
And for all those avid fans constantly raging on about how "hard" ROCk hit -- OVER ANYONE ELSE, basically -- just be informed that relatively LIGHT-hitting Chris Byrd, of ALL PEOPLE, ranged up at 1304 in punching power; so with that being the case, there's even MORE to suggest a guy like George Foreman, speculation OR NOT, would've taken ROCk's head clean off with smaller gloves. LoL!
AND THAT it ISN'T "REVEALED," LIKE in the case of OTHER FIGHTERS, HAS A HELLUVA LOT TO DO with the FACT -- he didn't dare to do what others did -- Fight LONGER. See, a man who wins two times and is undefeated is STILL undefeated. And there's room to argue against bragging rights IF he didn't face ALL in his wins. Don't know if he didn't face at least 2 top, NATURAL heavies from the time, but that should tend to count. Also, Johannson was targeted, post retirement, not Patterson.
As far as that goes, you cannot make them between anyone necessarily. Because someone is undefeated, it doesn't mean he is perfect. It's not like the BEST historical competition from all eras, in EVERY conceivable style, was met. In fact, in their first meeting, Walcott was beating Marciano clearly on points until he got careless in attempt to set ROCk up. Again -- sure, Rock is still great, but that doesn't mean he faced the BEST fighters EVER at his weight, even with a perfect record.
twilightfun...Walcott did not get "careless". He got caught against the ropes with a lightning fast right hand that put his lights out. I don't see your point except you are trying to diminish that which is undiminishable.
twilightfun...Walcott did not get careless...he got tired because he hit Marciano with his best and only made Marciano stalk him harder. It was a lightning fast right that put Walcott away, not carelessness, and you seem bent on diminishing that which is undiminishable.
I say that's just you trying to ride on the man's record -- yet again -- typical, to say that. Look, THEY WERE BOTH a bit tired at that point, after everything. But Rocky GOT TO Walcott better than vice versa. Jersey Joe, if YOU'LL watch, pulled back TO FEINT, so that he could catch ROCk with a right; only ROCk blazed in, catching him first. Please, stop trying to make rocket-science. That doesn't mean that Joe did not get careless to some extent, when better defense was an alternative option.

JCASHTBO: Hi: You must be a FUCKING RETARD. Walcott was living in a nursing home when Rock fought him. I"m disabled and I could have knocked Walcott out. STOP posting on youtube if you're going to be an idiot.
Satori 1800; Actually Joe was still a very dangerous man. I imagine he could have knocked out some of the fighters today, even at that age. Also, you never listed any facts as to weaknesses you see in him. He hammered with a lot of power and gave Rocky the worst beating in his career, in my opinion. Age is only one aspect of a winner.

The great white hope, who unfortunantly only beat old former welterweights/middleweights.
Wait Lastarza was a pure heavy, but then again Lastarza was only and will allways only be a contender with little skill, anyways Rocky had heart good man
what are you talking about? rocky never boxed welter or middiewights he was a heavyweight and a great champion. i hate that great white hope crap there are great white fighters and great black fighters what is the difference. marciano one of the true greats
Hey PRFrancis...Rocky beat the best fighters of his day. And he didn't just beat them, he annihilated them. I would like to see YOU step into the ring with him for one round.
"Hey PRFrancis...Rocky beat the best fighters of his day. And he didn't just beat them, he annihilated them..."
True. I don't care who I might consider able to beat him hypothetically in matchups, but ROCk climbed the ladder, taking care of all in his path - what a true contender and champion is supposed to do for as long as he can. When he knew he'd be unable, he stepped for good. Nothing wrong with that. The bottom line is he'll always hold that legend he deserved; for he was "real."
you call rocky's opponents old but sugar ray robinson had some of his greatest fights after 35.he won the middleweight title at 37/38.walcott was old but not shot, their is a differance.
and none of his opponents were welter or middle when they fought rocky.they were heavyweights.james toney was a former middleweight and competes with natural heavies with no problem.
rocky is closer in natural weight to a middleweight than the heavies are today.i guess the heavies of today really suck if they can't ko a middleweight like toney.
Does anyone know what happened to Rocky's daughter? I know he didn't spend enough time with her which is a chink in his armour, but I would love to know what became of her. Does she hate him? Idolize him? I'd love to know!
What this motivation is based on is that after a guy like Rocky who seemingly had no chance of becoming one of the greatest fighters who ever lived, who despite all his floors and debatable talent in the ring, after going through the kind of punishment that without a doubt would have killed anyone else but kept on fighting without stopping, never giving up.
After all of that, what right do I have to ever give up unless I go through something similar?
Amen, beatlejim! Amen! Can I get an Amen? Walcott literally wore himself out opening up on Rocky, yet Rocky demolished him with one of the hardest punches ever delivered to a boxer in the 13TH ROUND! Most boxers, especially power hitters, would not have the strength to do something like that; But Rocky actually GREW in strengh as the round wore on!
God Bless the Rock indeed Turk! He had the greatest heart of any heavyweight champion, and maybe the best ever in boxing. He even turned down a come on by Jane Mansfield when he was training...now THAT takes character and discipline!
Yes brother. That is exactly what made him Rocky Marciano. Without that spirit, he wouldn't have become on of the greatest fighters ever, one of the highest knockout percentage ever, staying unbeaten in 49 fights and having the greatest KO ever under his belt. You barely ever get to see people like him. We can only admire.
you gotta love the Marciano haters, the faults of marciano- clumsy, short, cut easy, old, a bum, fought a list of old bums, amazing that he never lost! how is that possible, the positives are that He had HEART, incredible stamina, a wrecking ball punch, refused to lose, had millions riding on his every fight from friends and family. most importantly UNDEAFETED!!!

and again...Boxing has gone soft and you know it. Klistchkos have fought NO ONE worthy...If this was 10 - 15 years ago tyson would kill him, as would evander holyfield.

"Klitschko would dominate all the greats"
I could smell your bullshit biased rhetoric from a mile away.
McKenna0001 3 years ago
I'll give you an example of arrogance you rusky prick.
You just said that Klitschko would easily beat some of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time. Are you really saying he would easily beat the greatest boxer of all time? If Ali was from Georgia you'd jerk off to the man! Pathetic!
McKenna0001 3 years ago
There is no greatest boxer of all time you noob. Georgia? why the fuck would I support someone from Georgia? did you hear we just had a war? but no, you don't keep up with social issues do you.
Klitschko would dominate all the greats.

Oh right a "war" or was it a complete unwarranted offensive regime? Shut the fuck up you russian fag. Your government is just as full of shit as Bush was.

the studies on rockys punching power determined that his punching power was sufficient to lift 1000lbs of weight 1 ft off the ground, just google "rocky marciano punching power and see the results of the studies on the rock at the university, rocky was a friek of nature with unaturale strenth, more so than all other heavyweights!
dirtyjew1974 3 years ago 4
"Considering the weight advantage Rocky gave away to opponents, few seem to know the key to his power. Fully believing in his ability to take a punch and confident he couldnt be knocked out, hed wade in to position himself as close as he could get. Then, like lifting a weight, hed plant his muscular, stumpy legs and thighs, and swivel-hip his punch. At that point, he was delivering his full 187 pound, adrenaline-loaded wallop for the lights-out contact." (Nat Tashman)

Klitschko would have too much reach.
easternslavic 3 years ago
thats true..the klitschkos would have a reach advantage over rock, but then again...so did everyone rocky ever fought except a few exceptions, most were faster than rocky and also had a reach advantage and yet he killed em all anyway, they didnt have a advantage in toughness grit and raw determination nor were they better conditioned, rock was just sooo strong, look on google "rocky marciano punching power" there were studies done at a university on why he could punch so hard.
dirtyjew1974 3 years ago 2
Oh what a surprise a Russian saying the Russian would win...Let me guess...Klitschko would beat any boxer of all time? Pshhh Klitschko isn't even in top 10 greatest heavy weights of all time. Deal with it you fuck.
McKenna0001 3 years ago
Ok number one, I never said he would win dipshit. He's not Russian, he's Ukrainian. And everyone has a different top 10.
You don't know anything about boxing, deal with it you fuck.
easternslavic 3 years ago
I don't know anything about boxing because I don't have a boner for Klitschko like you eastern European fucks? You guys are just like the English with Hatton...I stand by my original statement...Frazier, ali, foreman, and tyson would all in their prime beat both kitschkos in their primes.
McKenna0001 3 years ago
You know something about boxing and you don't know that the current world champ is not Russian? he would easily beat Tyson, Ali and Fraizier. Foreman might give him some slight problems but he would probably lose.
"Eastern Europeans fucks" jealous much? I know it hurts that we dominate ALL fighting sports. Not my fault you're just weaker.
easternslavic 3 years ago
LOL all fighting sports? Maybe you "dominate" boxing right now because no one gives a shit about it anymore and it's gone soft... (I suggest you search UFC, MMA, ect)
Speaking of dominating boxers...Remember the guy Mayweather Jr.? The greatest pound for pound boxer in the world?
Hey remind me who owned the Ukraine until July 16, 1990?
Face it...Klitschko is dominating a soft list of opponents.

MMA? OHHH you mean where the best is Fedor Emlianenko? thanks for that easy one Einstein.
Once again judging by what other people tell you ay? Sure Mayweather is the best p4p *laughs*
easternslavic 3 years ago
Fedor Emlianenko...Which Russians dominate the other weight classes?
The single greatest boxer of all time is surely not a Klitschko brother.
McKenna0001 3 years ago
MMA and heavyweight boxing are the two most respected sports. Fedor owns MMA and Klitschko owns Boxing. Oh yeah and a few others eg. Ruslan Chagaev, Valuev, Povetkin, Dmitry Salita, Alexander Dimitrenko, Sergiy Dzindziruk (past 3 undefeated) Wladimir Sidorenko, Arlovski, Igor Vovachynchyn and Mikhail Illoukhine.
Sighh the list goes on and on but who gives a fuck when we have Klitschko and Fedor?

Rocky Marciano RIP Legend
PeterMarkAzzopardi 3 years ago 4
Louis, Walcott, and Archie Moore all said that Marciano was the hardest puncher they ever faced. Moore said it was like getting hit with rocks. Charles said every where he hit you, it hurt, and he never stopped throwing hard punches. Ali said that he was much harder to hit than he expected. Like most champs, he would probably beat some and lose to others. Frazier said Marciano was better than him the later would have loved facing Ali, who was beaten by tough guys Norton and Frazier.
tmmmviii 3 years ago 3
Actually, you're wrong there. Archie Moore said that the hardest puncher he fought was Yvon Durelle not Marciano. Moore fought both Marciano and Ali and afterwards said "Marciano was great but Ali is the greatest" Moore said Ali at his best would probably beat anyone except maybe Jack Johnson. Not that I always agree with Moore but that's what he said.
pugilistofpower 3 years ago
Archie Moore said that Marciano was "the most determined man" he ever fought; and that apt description best sums up what Rocky was all about, and the reason for his great success despite his physical shortcomings. Rocky Marciano outhustled, outworked, outpunched, and out-toughed his opponents.
DannyA123 3 years ago 4
I don't doubt that. Most guys who fought Rocky said he was very determined.

marciano was the real deal. His few detractors like satori just have an axe to grind, your arguments are ridiculous and full of cliches. pathetic
kevlarunderwear22 3 years ago 4
Anyway, I love ROCk too; it's all good. He got through until the end, and he's still unquestionably all-time great -- fought his way through the fires like any champ -- ANY ONE OF 'EM -- is supposed to do; and he came out unsinged. That just ain't easy to do for any/everybody under normal circumstances of world competition. And he's the ONLY guy who can claim it! That's a powerful part of his wonderful reputation itself, of course. Can't nobody "really" knock that, I know. Thanks.
twilightfun 4 years ago
And like some others would also kindly remind them -- a fighter with ONLY 2 wins is STILL undefeated. [wink]
And for all those avid fans constantly raging on about how "hard" ROCk hit -- OVER ANYONE ELSE, basically -- just be informed that relatively LIGHT-hitting Chris Byrd, of ALL PEOPLE, ranged up at 1304 in punching power; so with that being the case, there's even MORE to suggest a guy like George Foreman, speculation OR NOT, would've taken ROCk's head clean off with smaller gloves. LoL!
twilightfun 4 years ago
AND THAT it ISN'T "REVEALED," LIKE in the case of OTHER FIGHTERS, HAS A HELLUVA LOT TO DO with the FACT -- he didn't dare to do what others did -- Fight LONGER. See, a man who wins two times and is undefeated is STILL undefeated. And there's room to argue against bragging rights IF he didn't face ALL in his wins. Don't know if he didn't face at least 2 top, NATURAL heavies from the time, but that should tend to count. Also, Johannson was targeted, post retirement, not Patterson.
Why - hmmmm?
twilightfun 4 years ago
As far as that goes, you cannot make them between anyone necessarily. Because someone is undefeated, it doesn't mean he is perfect. It's not like the BEST historical competition from all eras, in EVERY conceivable style, was met. In fact, in their first meeting, Walcott was beating Marciano clearly on points until he got careless in attempt to set ROCk up. Again -- sure, Rock is still great, but that doesn't mean he faced the BEST fighters EVER at his weight, even with a perfect record.
twilightfun 4 years ago
twilightfun...Walcott did not get "careless". He got caught against the ropes with a lightning fast right hand that put his lights out. I don't see your point except you are trying to diminish that which is undiminishable.
jcashtbo 4 years ago
twilightfun...Walcott did not get careless...he got tired because he hit Marciano with his best and only made Marciano stalk him harder. It was a lightning fast right that put Walcott away, not carelessness, and you seem bent on diminishing that which is undiminishable.
jcashtbo 4 years ago 8
I say that's just you trying to ride on the man's record -- yet again -- typical, to say that. Look, THEY WERE BOTH a bit tired at that point, after everything. But Rocky GOT TO Walcott better than vice versa. Jersey Joe, if YOU'LL watch, pulled back TO FEINT, so that he could catch ROCk with a right; only ROCk blazed in, catching him first. Please, stop trying to make rocket-science. That doesn't mean that Joe did not get careless to some extent, when better defense was an alternative option.
twilightfun 4 years ago

Satori1800 3 years ago
Satori 1800; Actually Joe was still a very dangerous man. I imagine he could have knocked out some of the fighters today, even at that age. Also, you never listed any facts as to weaknesses you see in him. He hammered with a lot of power and gave Rocky the worst beating in his career, in my opinion. Age is only one aspect of a winner.

The bottom line is he'll always hold that legend he deserved; for he was "real."
twilightfun 4 years ago
you call rocky's opponents old but sugar ray robinson had some of his greatest fights after 35.he won the middleweight title at 37/38.walcott was old but not shot, their is a differance.

and none of his opponents were welter or middle when they fought rocky.they were heavyweights.james toney was a former middleweight and competes with natural heavies with no problem.

rocky is closer in natural weight to a middleweight than the heavies are today.i guess the heavies of today really suck if they can't ko a middleweight like toney.
