I should have mentioned that the cheap plastic castanetes I used when I was a kid had better sounding roll than those akward castanetes I have just sitting in my closet. What a waste, and they were so expensive. When I bought them I think it was 1997 and for $125. I wonder how much they go for now?Not worth much if I can't use them.
Yours sound great. I have castanuelas del sur fibra de tela. I am not sure what size but they sounded great when I bought them in the store in Manhattan, but then when I took them home I can't seem to get them to roll properly and they are clunky. I think I might have to sell them and buy a smaller size. How can I find out what size they are? I don't see any size on them.
I got them yesterday! Castanuelas del Sur size 3 grenadillo and resin "Castanuela grenadillo veteado negro con pico". They're really very nice! I thought they'd be easy to just pick up and play but I have a hard time playing the fast 'rolls' - my pinky finger isn't very coordinated.
Very nice. I've only ever played exotic hardwood handmade rhythm bones (which) I make, but am considering buying some genuine Spanish-made castanets and had narrowed my pick down to the del sur ones, so I came to YouTube to try and see if anyone made a video with del sur castanets. Great to have found your video. Thanks for sharing it! Now I can't wait to get them!

If you keep practice, you will be able to play the castanet.
I could not play this new del sur castanets when I got this, because of its heavy weight and its larger size.

Good! I chose size 3 and I'm training my pinky too.
I watched the movie of your Indian native flute. That's very good, especially double drone flute.

Thanks. I play bones too!
Please try flameno castanets.
Del sur is good but you like the bones made of ebony or rosewood, wooden castanets will be good for you.
My del sur castanet is made of some fiber.
The sound is like soft wood.
I hope you will get your favorite one.
