i honestly think roy would've been an asset to the game. i mean, haveing the more characters from a single game would be awesome, right? here are the characters i think are totally useless, which roy, mewtwo, ect. could replace: olimar, jigglypuff, kingDDD, and pikachu? feel free to comment.

That's true, he did. And I guess getting to battle Rayquaza in Brawl counted as representing 3rd gen.
I frankly like the Pokemon Trainer, if only for the fact that you can fake-out your opponents by randomly switching when they least expect it. I'd have taken out Jigglypuff, if not for that Orignal Twelve rule. -_- Stupid little pink puffball...

Mewtwo Roy and Dr.Mario were meant to be in brawl. Most of Mewtwo`s data is on the disc, along with half of Roy`s. Dr.Mario was playable in the earlyest of demos, but not included in the disc`s data. All of these characters will be in the next Super Smash Bros. To answer your question, lack of time. Brawl was being rushed far too fast for it to be completely done. There are even more characters meant to be in Brawl but excluded because of it being rushed.
Roy was a clone of Marth, Dr Mario was a clone of Mario, Pichu was a clone of Pikachu. Link in brawl is based on Twilight Princess, instead of Ocarina of Time, there was no Young Link in Twilight Princess, so he's been replaced by Toon Link, based on Wind Waker. Mewtwo is the only non-clone character that dont return, he's been replaced by Lucario
i think pichu, young link, Mewtwo and roy shouldve stayed! they were the best in melee to me! i was good with young link and pichu.....now i suck with toon link and my only best is Pikachu in brawl but i still have melee and more people play it than brawl! the next generation is supposed to be less cheap and roy comes back in!!
Well,its a pity,that certain characters do not appear in Brawl. I think,the charachter mostly missed by the community will be (or is) Roy.
But! Data traces of Roy and Mewtu were on the disc and maybe,someday in the distant future, Nintendo provides an Updater and both are included.They may be not here,but they can be here. So,do not give up hope,folks.
I was so syched (I have trouble spelling it) when I got young link, roy, and mewtwo. They were 3 of my mains for a while. Once I noticed that they weren't going to have roy, young link, or mewtwo, I was crushed. I heard Ike was in brawl and I responded with: Who? Wheres roy?!! Sad days... :(
About Young Link, Dr. Mario, Roy and Pichu, I don't really believe that they cut just because they "clones" in Melee......I think that's a bad excuse. I think there's other better reasons (like lack of time for exemple) The creators could have give then different movesets.

Those five will always make Melee worth going back too. I love every one of them (especially Pichu). Never forgotten by their respective fanbases, these characters live on.

Young Link is now Toon Link. Dr.Mario is still Mario. Mewtwo's reputation got bashed because of how he fought. Pichu was adorable, but he/she (IDK O.o) hurt himself. People used Marth more than Roy. BUT THAT WAS NO REASON TO REJECT THEM!!! They could've just changed their movs... TwT I miss Roy the most...

I don't miss Pichu much... Mewtwo was pretty cool because he wasn't a clone... Dr. Mario needs to be an alternate outfit, but the one I hellishly miss is Roy. He's obviously the most missed character from melee.
He's just weaker AND lighter than Pikachu, and has slightly worse recovery. And he can damage himslef, and is THE lightest character in the game. How could you miss him? Oh well, maybe Pichu should be a random summon for the poke' ball.
Ike is somewhat like Roy, just with less speed, more reach, heavier, and more powerful. But Ike did not have the sword dance combo, but Ike really did need a dash attack thanks to how slow he is.
But Ike turned out to be a very good character, but if all three of them were in brawl, it would have been much more fun! ;)
marth's a good character in brawl too. my favorite characters in brawl besides ike are mario pikachu link donkey kong yoshi link sonic pit captain falcon and luigi.
No doubt about it, Marth is a good character. He's just a little worse in Brawl because he lost a wee bit of his former speed. His speed and attack power in Melee made him one of the best characters.

i try using lucario as i used mewtwo to obliterate all competition, but lucario isnt the same... (probly to make it relate to the pokemon games where mewtwo has 445 sp atk in my game, while looking at lucarios stats on the internet makes me see that he doesnt pass as a legendary)

I bet they aren't, that's exactly why I hate that they were using the "getting rid of clones" excuse for why they cut the others. And even if the one's who got cut where clones, they should have just tweaked them a bit.
While Wolf and Falco had some different moves, both of them are still similar enough to Fox to warrent complaining. Especially Falco, since most of his standard moves and throws are either the same or very similar to Fox's. His different down B is probably to counterbalance the fact that Wolf has more unique standard moves and throws than Falco does.
Yeah, like I said, I can honestly say that I really wasn't bothered by the cutting of the others (just personal opinion, don't jump me please, lol)
But Roy was the real tragedy for me, like i said, it would have been just Roy, but there wasn't enough pics sadly, but I think it worked out okay anyways.

Umm...I know...the video is simply about saying goodbye to THESE characters, as regardless of who their clone or replacement is, these particular characters are not there anymore.
Mewtwo and Roy are the only Melee rejects that deserve to return in the sequel.

Yeah , Lucario also got to represent the 4th Gen . Otherwise all Playable Pokemon would be 1st Gen , and would be unfair .
Still , I would have taken out Pkmn trainer , He over-repped Pokemon , there are like 6 Playable pokemon in Brawl(If pkmn trainer is counted as 3 )
I think Zoroark is going to be in a SSB4 while Lucario becomes leftover data like Mewtwo .

Mewtwo Roy and Dr.Mario were meant to be in brawl. Most of Mewtwo`s data is on the disc, along with half of Roy`s. Dr.Mario was playable in the earlyest of demos, but not included in the disc`s data. All of these characters will be in the next Super Smash Bros. To answer your question, lack of time. Brawl was being rushed far too fast for it to be completely done. There are even more characters meant to be in Brawl but excluded because of it being rushed.

Roy was a clone of Marth, Dr Mario was a clone of Mario, Pichu was a clone of Pikachu. Link in brawl is based on Twilight Princess, instead of Ocarina of Time, there was no Young Link in Twilight Princess, so he's been replaced by Toon Link, based on Wind Waker. Mewtwo is the only non-clone character that dont return, he's been replaced by Lucario

i think pichu, young link, Mewtwo and roy shouldve stayed! they were the best in melee to me! i was good with young link and pichu.....now i suck with toon link and my only best is Pikachu in brawl but i still have melee and more people play it than brawl! the next generation is supposed to be less cheap and roy comes back in!!

Well,its a pity,that certain characters do not appear in Brawl. I think,the charachter mostly missed by the community will be (or is) Roy.
But! Data traces of Roy and Mewtu were on the disc and maybe,someday in the distant future, Nintendo provides an Updater and both are included.They may be not here,but they can be here. So,do not give up hope,folks.

I was so syched (I have trouble spelling it) when I got young link, roy, and mewtwo. They were 3 of my mains for a while. Once I noticed that they weren't going to have roy, young link, or mewtwo, I was crushed. I heard Ike was in brawl and I responded with: Who? Wheres roy?!! Sad days... :(

About Young Link, Dr. Mario, Roy and Pichu, I don't really believe that they cut just because they "clones" in Melee......I think that's a bad excuse. I think there's other better reasons (like lack of time for exemple) The creators could have give then different movesets.

i like all the carecters in melee that didnt make it in brawl and im going to kick the persons ass who had the idea to take them out because pichu is da same as pickachu except hes cute mewtwo can kick lucarios butt roy can kill ike dr.mario is a docter and its cool to kick a docters butt to unlock them young link.....is just better than toon link

Young Link is now Toon Link. Dr.Mario is still Mario. Mewtwo's reputation got bashed because of how he fought. Pichu was adorable, but he/she (IDK O.o) hurt himself. People used Marth more than Roy. BUT THAT WAS NO REASON TO REJECT THEM!!! They could've just changed their movs... TwT I miss Roy the most...

Well besides Mewtwo they were all clones. Even the makers admitted they were clones. I'm glad Pichu is gone because he is terrible and not only that he hurts himself.

I don't miss Pichu much... Mewtwo was pretty cool because he wasn't a clone... Dr. Mario needs to be an alternate outfit, but the one I hellishly miss is Roy. He's obviously the most missed character from melee.

He's just weaker AND lighter than Pikachu, and has slightly worse recovery. And he can damage himslef, and is THE lightest character in the game. How could you miss him? Oh well, maybe Pichu should be a random summon for the poke' ball.

Ike is somewhat like Roy, just with less speed, more reach, heavier, and more powerful. But Ike did not have the sword dance combo, but Ike really did need a dash attack thanks to how slow he is.
But Ike turned out to be a very good character, but if all three of them were in brawl, it would have been much more fun! ;)
I'd love using Roy in subspace and online.

No doubt about it, Marth is a good character. He's just a little worse in Brawl because he lost a wee bit of his former speed. His speed and attack power in Melee made him one of the best characters.

i try using lucario as i used mewtwo to obliterate all competition, but lucario isnt the same... (probly to make it relate to the pokemon games where mewtwo has 445 sp atk in my game, while looking at lucarios stats on the internet makes me see that he doesnt pass as a legendary)

While Wolf and Falco had some different moves, both of them are still similar enough to Fox to warrent complaining. Especially Falco, since most of his standard moves and throws are either the same or very similar to Fox's. His different down B is probably to counterbalance the fact that Wolf has more unique standard moves and throws than Falco does.
And Fox isn't a clone or a semi-clone at all.

But Roy was the real tragedy for me, like i said, it would have been just Roy, but there wasn't enough pics sadly, but I think it worked out okay anyways.

Hmm...I expected Roy, Y. Link, Pichu, and Doc to go, but I will miss them...except Y. Link, as T. Link is basically the same as him to me. (Just new appearance, altered moves, and new name).
But Mewtwo......my favorite character?!? I will miss him the most...(Doc is second in my missing, as he was my Melee main.)
