  • "As you can see from these multiple shots from this one movie, only one light is necessary. So, to light a film properly, as a cinematographer would, you need one light. Okay. Do you have your light? Good.

You are now able to light any scene you will ever film. Congrats!"

  • what movie is that from?

  • man, the assasination of jesse james by the coward robert ford is fucking awesome.

  • Nice video, looks really professional!

  • Wow very inspirational! I never thought lighting was so important but now I can see how detrimental lack of it is to a film! Thank you! I will check out your website.

  • Thank you Ashleebears. Hope to see you in our workshop soon. Give us a call if you need help or have questions.

  • @Ashleebears so true

  • hahahah Jessie James :D

  • the train scene looked amazing was that from a movie?

  • Lighting wise ok. But film methods wise it was wrong, Look at the shot Train coming shot, Light going shot, and reaction shots like shadows going on men faces, track shot of men reaction shot???... Access line changed know????

  • What camera did you use?

  • I know you guys are lighting guys.

But whoever scored this scored it with a sample rate of 44.1 khz.

Record or re-export with a sample rate of 48khz and you won't get the "pop pop pop" throughout.

  • @KasonBryden Thanks for the info. :)

  • Even at a rate of 44.1 khz those pops should not be there .. I use that very freq and never got those popping sounds,it could be a video encoding problem rather . I think youtube translates to flv . Never mind,It's a good piece of music .

  • @KasonBryden hahah right!^^

  • Sounds like you need to make your sound files into AIFF files on Final Cut. :-p

  • What camera is being used? Lighting is amazing all of it looks very clean and crisp!

  • Do you have some steam train footage I could use for a music video I am making for a friend in Salt Lake City?

  • I love this it's inspiring, Im at uni and we never have any proper lighting workshops and i don't know why because we need them as its what creates the atmosphere. Maybe if i show them this they will change their minds.

  • Hi Xpimp, Our Lighting Class is dubbed "The Workshop That Defies Textbooks" because we teach tips and tricks that are useful in real-life shooting situations instead of theory. Check out our website for more info on the workshop and to register: Google "Light & Shadow: a camera lighting workshop"!

  • So everyone knows this is from The Assassination of Jesse James right?

  • Nice

  • And it was all shot with Kodak Tungsten film using Cooke S4 series lenses...fun fact.

  • Sorry, but Mr. Dikens didn't shoot the "Assassination of Jesse James" in video...

  • lol. Mr. Dikens surely didn't shoot that film in VIDEO. He, whoever he is, didn't shoot "Assassination of Jesse James" at all!

The great cinematographer Mr. ROGER DEAKINS did -- in 35MM film -- and it's phenomenal. Great lighting sample to show how magical lighting can bring to a scene.

    Do your homework, estevaomiguel. lol.

  • Sorry, but his name is Mr. Deakins....

  • Then you should go to the workshop^^!
