  • You suck.

  • FUCK AP !

  • I was going to hate but then I saw this vid was made in 2008

  • fucking worthless video, good job

  • i did this when i was a catcher

  • Has anyone noticed that when we do something historic like this it always seems to be against the Blue Jays. This and Len Barkers Perfect game both against Toronto

  • @BRIANROX1 who's 'we' you got a turd in yo pocket?

  • BOO!! youtube 's for vids not audio with pics!! LAME

  • Not only is Asdrubal Cabrera a great underated talnet, but is sounds like the greatest sex move EVER.

  • hey associated press...fuck you show the fuxking videos

  • youtube is for videos not slideshows

  • just put the video up NOT PICS

  • last year you meaen, codlova

  • PHillies player had unassisted this year.

  • he only has those pitures to remember!? no one recorded it?!

  • He WAS at first...he made the first triple play that ENDED a game on

May 31, 1927 ....the 2nd time was by Eric Bruntlett, Phillies, on August 23, 2009...the first one in the National League. This broke an 82 year old record.....He was only the 15th player in history to complete a triple play.....

  • only player to complete a unassisted triple play.

    not just any triple play...

    a UNASSISTED triple play

theres like 5 triple plays a season

  • they forgot about furcal

  • haha unassisted triple play,

    ive never seen that done

except one time in gym class when no one knew how to play xD

  • I can remember the SS for Atlanta turning one in 2005.

  • Ok ok.

    For everyone getting confused here:

First, he catches the line drive(1). Then he steps on the second to get the out, because the runner needs to go back, so it's a force out(2), then he tags the runner that stops, because he has to go to the first(3)

  • So to finish what I was saying, when Cabrera stepped on second base that eliminated Mench, and he was within the rules to tag Scutaro out as well even though he had the option to throw to the first baseman and he would tag the bag but this would have meant it was NOT an unassisted triple play.

  • jerricandi- If it is a force out at the base, the fielder need only touch the bag assuming he has the ball. If it is not a force, the fielder has to tag the runner. Anyway, the two runners, Mench and Scutaro, took off with the pitch. When Cabrera caught the line drive, both runners were required to tag up before they could advance, just like on a sac fly. This meant they were "forced" to return to their respective bases. Also, with a force out, you still have the option to tag the runner.

  • is the wording of this confusing to anyone else? so he catches a line drive. out one. he touches second base to force the out? i thought an out was only forced when there is a runner on the bag before. but if he caught the line drive then there is no force at second... right (if there is a guy on first he doesnt have to run) ? and then he tags the third guy out... , if scutero gets tagged out bc he leaves second base that makes sense. maybe its the wording or im confusing terms. fill me in!

  • 14th time!?

  • lol @ 0:39...

  • fk the indians.

  • GO INDIANS

  • Hell YEAH!

  • I think I remember Andy Van Slyke doing it once. He dribbled the ball in the infield. Am I right?

  • Too bad it wasn't recorded.

  • It was

  • he has no power!!

  • Favorite MLB player!

    5/5

    Asdrubal pwns!

  • you mean Miguel pwns

  • I don't think so!

    Asdrubal is better...

  • MLB is not going down the drain. It's a fucking sport, not some bullshit political stuff, but it is being stupid.

  • if you want to see the play, use google video...

  • i remeber that it was amazing!

  • Oh Jesus, this wasn't even a video it's just an audio news article with a couple of pictures. Useless.

  • you cant post it. MLB will claim copyright

  • And yet they don't make the clip available. In fact, this conversation about events and accounts of the game may be prohibited. How do they get away with such protectionism?

  • Yeah, MLB really is protective of it's stuff.

  • i know i mean what the heck. they dont even show the play

  • This explains why professional baseball is going down the pooper, they won't even let you see their best plays. This plus the steroid situation is making MLB a joke.

  • i mean shouldnt mlb be happy we all wanna see it? its not like the ever play it on tv so just let us see it.

  • Exactly! If I could show something like that to my wife, at least then she might let me watch the games on TV. As it is I'm stuck with Dancing With the Stars when we could just TIVO that and watch it later... plus the kids have stuff recording. Sucks, I can't even watch baseball. :(

  • wow thats really unfair and if you showed her this shed NEVER let you watch it lol

  • Wow, hadn't looked at it that way. I'm afraid you might be right. :(

  • thats just what i thought lol

  • hey that happened on my birthday!

  • cool

  • Now there's a sight I'm used to: Jhonny Peralta standing there dumbfounded.

  • omg that is sooooo true!

    hahaha

    we need omar back

  • lolz. silly AP. you post a video story about a triple play, but didn't post the ACTUAL video of said play....just still photos. print media=worthless!

  • aj davis once intercepted a handoff

  • Asrubal caught the ball then tagged second and then tagged the runner. First baseman did nothing

  • Bases loaded. Line drive towards the hole between second baseman and first baseman, 1st baseman catches it and tags man running back to first as 'hit and run' had him getting huge jump. Races the runner back to 2nd by stepping on bag, out three.

  • actually now that i think about it you're right. are you sure you heard this from a credible source?

  • well u can look a couple different ways, line drive, runner tries to advance from first, tags the base, and runner tries to advance from second, and he throws it to second, getting the out

  • thats not unassisted though

  • Too bad it wasn't recorded as it happened.

  • I'll bet Rafael Furcal would be surprised to learn that before Tulowitzki, Velarde was the last player to turn one.

    Dope.

  • actually the last unassisted triple play was in the 1920 world series

  • more like, last year, by troy tulowitzki

  • maybe the last WORLD SERIES tripple play.

  • That was the last unassisted triple play in Indians history.....before Cabrera's

  • You r a moron

  • i'm talking about Indian's history you dumb fuck

  • You're the dumb fuck. You clearly said "The last assisted triple play was in 1920 world series" You DIDN'T say "The last assisted triple play by the Indians was in the 1920 World Series." So how were firpie22 and slisenberger supposed to know that's what you meant?

  • de venezuela y cardenales pal mundo

  • woohoo! Let's Go Tribe!!!

and he threw the ball in the stands cause he cares about the fans not just making history.

  • asdrubal cabrera and omar vizquel rules ¡¡

  • eso es todo De venezuela pal mundo papa

  • malandro de mierda

  • nojoda malvado malandro es el coño de tu madre mexicano de mierda. eso si es un pelotero y 100% venezolano. diablo

  • this video is wrong the one before tullowitzki's was rafael furcal for the braves in 2003

  • i think unassissted i remember furcals triple play

  • why in the world would you throw the ball in the stands YOU JUST MADE HISTORY!

  • Whether he has the ball or not, he made history anyways, and he obviously does not need the ball to prove it. You'd be happy if you got the ball, maybe he was aiming to make someone happy.

  • He made history with the play. Then he made himself a nice little niche in the hearts of Cleveland fans with the selfless act of tossing the ball into the stands. In this age of 'me, me, me' athletes who seem to care more about the name on the back of the jersey, than they do about the one on the front, Cabrera's genuine and spontanious reaction to the moment was refreshing, to say the least.

  • That shows that he loves his fans, and he is not selfish. he made history regardless of if he kept the ball or not.

  • I care about it!!! He's only the 14th player in MLB history to turn one! It's quite a feat doing it. I realise there will be some "right place, right time" element to it, however because it happens so rarely it's still impressive!!

  • You're exactly right PBamber16 ! If all you care about is if the team won or lost you're a pretty boring fan of baseball not to appreciated something like that!

  • they may have lost but that triple play helped lower cliff lees era to the 4th lowest era after 7 games since WWII

  • If it's so easy why don't you go to the MLB and do it.

  • Unassisted triple plays are the rarest feat in baseball. That's why we give a shit. It's more rare than perfect games and more rare than a player hitting four home runs in one game.

  • Too bad they lost, still an amazing play though.
