There are no such thing as Musical groups anymore....with the exception of some rock groups who stillplay instruments, R& B and hip hop are all computer generated sounds. No more studio musicians or groups with musicians writing their own scores. Just a bunch of DJs and sound engineers!
This is real music! Most of the stuff on the radio today is very bad knock-offs of old school and/or filled with so much profanity its disgusting. But that suppose to get the point across... I think... What? Maybe... Oh yeah??? Right???
Real music. Real musicians. Real singers. Real performers. Unlike the music of today with everyone trying to sound like everyone else and none of them will have their music played in 20-30 years like the groups of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
You do realize that this is not a live performance, don't you? He's obviously lip syncing and none of them are plugged into their amps. You probably thought it was a great performance because you're listening to the studio version! It's not the band's fault. In the 70's just about every music/variety show would not allow the bands to really play live, forcing them to lip sync.
I've been watching a bunch of Jamiroquai videos lately and what I see is these guys have just redone with was done in the 70's with groups like this. Now the Jamiroquai generation thinks they invented funk music. Young people need to get back into playing real music on real instruments and stop depending on computers and beat machines so much. What happened to our African American musicians?
@shwndh i gree with you about The Jamiroquai Generation of musicians. "What happened to our African American musicians?" They're all working at credit card call centers, collecting for The Man ! BWAAhahaha
@steelerdave2000 ......amen.............music died when they took the strings and horns out of music.....I've been saying that for the last 25 years. A synthesizer will never be a horn !
Saw them at the Santa Clara County Fair long ago. They really got the crowd going with their lighted sign and cool horns. Gotta love the horns man...cool!!
Nowadays , it's up to the parents to try to get their kids interested in taking up a musical instrument as a hobby, but the parents might not always be able to get their kid to stick with one.
I hear some of the jamms here on YouTube and, it's sad. Some of these DJs don't know that there are 4 beats in a measure, 8 measures in a verse, I hear the dumbest stuff being done on synthesizers and drum machines, you know what I'm referring to...
@dede1265 I had orginally wanted to be a professional trumpet player, but when I saw telltale signs that music programs were being cut in 1979-1980, and when I saw my private lesson tutor drive up in a beat-up jalopy that didn't make it up the slight incline to the high school parking lot, I realized right then and there , about march 1980, and I didn't want to try to get by on the pay of a professional trumpet player.
Band and choir and guitar classes, all gone at my old school. ;(
@DancingSpiderman So true the same happen to me as well. I was part of the generation that got caught in the music program cut. I remember trying to play violin and brass and both teachers would only come once a week to my school. Then they disapear all together. By the time middle school came the teacher only wanted to deal with experienced students. That all started during the Reagan era and I remember getting much flack for saying that. But it's true. Look at what we have now.
What I've noticed now: Young people with no education in music , but they go get software and some MIDI plug-in's and create just totally unlistenable crap.
EXAMPLE; watch?v=wqY433PhDsc

@DancingSpiderman you are so right. in my hometown, there used to be a music store to buy instruments everywhere you turn. But now they've all closed and now there's talk of ending music classes in school completely. i used to go to jr. high and high school games just for the bands. alot of the stuff you hear on radio today, i guess they figure we no longer need talented. musicians and instrumentalists.
@GDCTT Yep. It's all about Ca$hFlow, and traditional musical instruments and players don't cash flow like a sampler keyboard. Now, if these computer music noobs could just learn that there are 4 beats in a measure, 8 measures in a verse, and that you don't just cut and splice anywhere you choose...
Now this is music, right now music these days suck ass. i was a kid in the 80's and a teen and college student in the 90's and music from the 80's and 90's were better then right now.
Sure is a lot of plumbing up on stage... Real brass , for real musicians! Support your local school music programs... sampler keyboards DO NOT replace real musical instruments.
@DancingSpiderman midi instruments sound like shit. I don't care how good your midi controller is or what awesome place you got your samples from. its lacks character and sounds dull. There seems to be a lack of respect for real creative and talented musicians in todays music industry.
