  • There are no such thing as Musical groups anymore....with the exception of some rock groups who stillplay instruments, R& B and hip hop are all computer generated sounds. No more studio musicians or groups with musicians writing their own scores. Just a bunch of DJs and sound engineers!

  • AMAZING! such tight production, sounds like it was made in 2011 on pro tools HD!

  • funk love.

  • Toro y moi "Sweet"

  • Too tight!!

  • Oooooooo Weeeee!

  • The best song in my life from Tokio

  • This is real music! Most of the stuff on the radio today is very bad knock-offs of old school and/or filled with so much profanity its disgusting. But that suppose to get the point across... I think... What? Maybe... Oh yeah??? Right???

  • @aaronjimerson88 Ha Ha....... You are so right! They don't make music like this anymore..... Such a pitty!

  • Great and powerful Funk ballad!!!

  • And that's how I remember these guys!!...LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

  • And that's how I remember these guys!!

  • Real music. Real musicians. Real singers. Real performers. Unlike the music of today with everyone trying to sound like everyone else and none of them will have their music played in 20-30 years like the groups of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

  • where can u get this video

  • they workd hard for the money

  • Power Rangers!

  • awesome!

  • Long live Solid Gold!

  • You do realize that this is not a live performance, don't you? He's obviously lip syncing and none of them are plugged into their amps. You probably thought it was a great performance because you're listening to the studio version! It's not the band's fault. In the 70's just about every music/variety show would not allow the bands to really play live, forcing them to lip sync.

  • I've been watching a bunch of Jamiroquai videos lately and what I see is these guys have just redone with was done in the 70's with groups like this. Now the Jamiroquai generation thinks they invented funk music. Young people need to get back into playing real music on real instruments and stop depending on computers and beat machines so much. What happened to our African American musicians?

  • @shwndh i gree with you about The Jamiroquai Generation of musicians. "What happened to our African American musicians?" They're all working at credit card call centers, collecting for The Man ! BWAAhahaha

  • me encanta esta rola.saludos desde cd.madero playa miramar.y aseguir escuchando buena musica.

  • edited by guy from Brazil.

  • Can today's music ever get the idea that you need a HORN SECTION???

  • @steelerdave2000 ......amen.............music died when they took the strings and horns out of music.....I've been saying that for the last 25 years. A synthesizer will never be a horn !

  • After EWF this was the best funk band on the planet

    hands down....muito foda

  • @jettvr YUP!!!

  • Boa campeão

  • Great song, great group...wanna cry when I think of Louis McCall.

  • kool

  • 6 deaf people have watched this, why, I have no idea.

  • I luv this era of music, this shyt is too funky!

  • @dede1265 Yep, I totally gree.

Nowadays , it's up to the parents to try to get their kids interested in taking up a musical instrument as a hobby, but the parents might not always be able to get their kid to stick with one.

I hear some of the jamms here on YouTube and, it's sad. Some of these DJs don't know that there are 4 beats in a measure, 8 measures in a verse, I hear the dumbest stuff being done on synthesizers and drum machines, you know what I'm referring to...

  • @dede1265 I had orginally wanted to be a professional trumpet player, but when I saw telltale signs that music programs were being cut in 1979-1980, and when I saw my private lesson tutor drive up in a beat-up jalopy that didn't make it up the slight incline to the high school parking lot, I realized right then and there , about march 1980, and I didn't want to try to get by on the pay of a professional trumpet player.

Band and choir and guitar classes, all gone at my old school. ;(

  • @DancingSpiderman So true the same happen to me as well. I was part of the generation that got caught in the music program cut. I remember trying to play violin and brass and both teachers would only come once a week to my school. Then they disapear all together. By the time middle school came the teacher only wanted to deal with experienced students. That all started during the Reagan era and I remember getting much flack for saying that. But it's true. Look at what we have now.

  • @heyroz27 WOW... you too. Dang.

What I've noticed now: Young people with no education in music , but they go get software and some MIDI plug-in's and create just totally unlistenable crap.

    EXAMPLE; watch?v=wqY433PhDsc

This is a particularly bad version of Duck Soup - Barbara Streisand.

The same goes for every other mental skill. Youths don't get real-world tutoring and experience on real equipment, so airplane flying COMPUTER SOFTWARE, math solving GRAPHING SOFTWARE, auto spell check

  • @DancingSpiderman Exactly!

  • @DancingSpiderman you are so right. in my hometown, there used to be a music store to buy instruments everywhere you turn. But now they've all closed and now there's talk of ending music classes in school completely. i used to go to jr. high and high school games just for the bands. alot of the stuff you hear on radio today, i guess they figure we no longer need talented. musicians and instrumentalists.

  • @GDCTT Yep. It's all about Ca$hFlow, and traditional musical instruments and players don't cash flow like a sampler keyboard. Now, if these computer music noobs could just learn that there are 4 beats in a measure, 8 measures in a verse, and that you don't just cut and splice anywhere you choose...

  • YES!!!

  • Boa! Muito gay, mas alto nível de som!! E infelizmente esta descincronizado.... mas valeu, parabéns!

  • YES!!! FUNK-DA-FYED!! Oh YEAH!!

  • UNFORGETABLE TUNES DARN WHAT GREAT MUSIC

  • Man I remeber listing to these songs a at Black College Football Game during halftime. when they had the battle of the band. that was at Mogan State.

  • Now this is music, right now music these days suck ass. i was a kid in the 80's and a teen and college student in the 90's and music from the 80's and 90's were better then right now.

  • I still play this in my car yeeeeeeear!!!!

  • great song!

  • THIER BALLS MUST BE MISSING TO SING THT HIGH HAHA :p

  • i SURE MISS THIS KIND OF MUSIC

  • that is the shit

  • Sure is a lot of plumbing up on stage... Real brass , for real musicians! Support your local school music programs... sampler keyboards DO NOT replace real musical instruments.

  • @DancingSpiderman midi instruments sound like shit. I don't care how good your midi controller is or what awesome place you got your samples from. its lacks character and sounds dull. There seems to be a lack of respect for real creative and talented musicians in todays music industry.

  • now this is music that u can understand.....

  • strictly old skool here, real music,

  • Putz, esse som levanta até defunto!!! Amo essa música, foi a melhor época da minha vida, quem viveu sabe do que estou falando.

  • good stuff ++++++++

  • pure west coast funk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Bay Area.. is very fucking talented!! We've got the early days funk shizznt... CON FUNK SHUN!! Sly and the family stone! We have such bands as Green Day and a 500 page long list full of great rappers!! The Bay!!!

  • Plus Tower Of Power, Graham Central Station, Santana, Journey... The list continues man...

  • I had the pleasure of hearing Sly's practice sessions at his mothers home AND hanging with ConFunkShun personally and at concerts!

Who knew they would become trend-setters!

    Valley-Joe all the way!

  • Exellent!

  • clothes....ss

  • This is when good looking men with excellent bodies wore form fitting closes........YI Carumba........Fine MoFos...will these days ever come back? Form fitting......I vote yes!!!

  • oh! Going back down memory lane..found this funk nugget. The Nostalgia! It's all good babe..

  • For the longest time, I thought this was Earth, Wind & Fire. This song sounds A LOT like them. And yet, Con Funk Shun are WAY FUNKIER.

  • Nah, there was music tryouts once apon a time.

The losers got to be in Earth Wind And Fire.

The winners got to be in Con Funk Shun.

Back in the early seventies I saw a black man Ronald McDonald. He did not like kidz. He was talking like he was in a Dave Chappelle skit.

  • this sounds like "Let This Groove"

  • You are so right!!!!

    I Love You Baby!!!!

  • I love you baby. This is our song. I listen to this everyday.

  • @4evernate28 can't believe it, most of my life i thought this was by EWF too (brings back good ol memories of highschool in 81--our dance song hihi), i even hav my old tape where we recorded this & i thought it was the flipside of Let's Groove. Geez. Only recently did i learn this was by CFS, which eventually they say sounds much like EWF. So there you go.

  • This great song began my long career of clubbing in the hottest spots in US for: dancing, dancing and more dancing. I miss dancing to good music!!

    Fan4Life

  • I love Con Funk Shun. Because they're from Vallejo they play at the local fair every year, but I still have'nt got to see them live.

  • Comment removed

  • There's something to be said for having this many muhfuckas on stage, and ALL OF THEM HAVE TALENT!!! PEACE.

  • that's funny. i am sure there were many of us. i hate to put race into it but it's the way it was. i used to fight with my siblings over american bandstand or soul train...now they know i had the better taste! lol. hope life in texas is treating you well...peace and keep groovin...

  • mucha onda este tema, copadisimooo

  • Now this Old School!

  • this my jam!!!! what u know bout dat?

    :)

  • Thanx for all your replies to my post,I certainly felt the Ambience of Morris white when i listened to this track.I also agree on the different types of Funk,ie The likes Parliament/Clinton/ZAPP/could be put into one category whereas perhaps Chic/Dynasty/Shalamar ect could go into another group. My favourite Band the Bros Johnson i think are in a class by themselves, but even they were never the same after they left Quincy/Temperton.I wonder how much of a bands identity is actually the producers.

  • Great stuff,But Who started this style of groove? ConfunkShun or Ewf.Come on all you funk historians put me right

  • Earth Wind And Fire was definitely first. Then you also have groups like Brothers Johnson, Slave, and Dazz Band. Kool And The Gang came out pretty early as well. But EWF were definitely the pioneers.

  • as u said, ewf were pioneers but u have extremley missed the ohio players before all of the rest. kool & the gang had a great album in '72(music is the message)but at the time of "pioneering" (between 73-75)the ohio players already made the major breakthrue.

  • I definitely agree. I totally forgot about the Ohio Players, as well as the gap band. I always felt that funk had different areas. I felt the other part includes the sounds of Parliament and Funkadelic. Along with James Brown, The Meters, and Sly. Many of these artists being pioneers, but also had a more raw sound. Bands like Con Funk, EWF, Gap Band, etc were more of the party funk music that stretched a lot to disco crowds. Then you had bands in between all of it like Zapp and Roger.

  • What about Lakeside?? They're great also.

  • You are totaly right lakeside were brilliant.

  • Brilliant!

  • Ooooooh, who was their stylist! LMAO

    God, I miss real bands!

  • Confunkshun is one of my top 10 favorite groups of all time!!!

I've never seen then perform live so this is great!! Thanks!!

  • This song was the shit and it jumpstarted ConFunkShun's career

  • The only one sadly enough palmerpinckney is Mint Condition. They are all music majors and write produce and perform all of their on songs just like the old days. Everyone else are just Pro Tools Studio creations.

  • Absolute GOLD!!! To bad R&B groups today can't preform their own songs like this. You know play their instruments. Yeah, here's a question for you --- name one popular R&B band in this decade 2000 - 2008? Just one. Not a soloist, not an artist. a band!

  • Top 40 in '81 #40. Disco was still very popular even after the backlash of Disco Destruction and the Disco Sucks idiots.

  • Brings back memories of when I was in the 6th grade.

  • One of my 2nd favorite group next to Heatwave!! This song brings back good memories of good bands!!!

  • I luv this group...mama played it after 12 on Sundays...Well now atleast I know why they all sung falseto....dem damn tight ass pants!
