Good production value. I was thinking about getting this grinder. Sooo hard finding a good grinder in Canada. Either they're hard to find, or they just end up overpricing them. Buying from US resellers online is useless once you take shipping costs into account :(
hi, my fiance and i just got this machine. how far up do you fill the porta filter up? also, how do you know when its the right temp. to start making the espresso? we dont get that whole temperature surfing thing. HELP? thanks so much!
Hi,good choice :) i don't updose, so the filter usually has 3 to 6 mm free from coffee (consider that Ialways do singles, with the single filter, and only occasionally a double). however, around 8 grams for singles and 16 for doubles. I had never the opportunity to test the water's and group's temperature, so I may be wrong, but usually I just wait the machine to idle, then flush to get the temp down and as soon as the light is off again, i pull the shot. Hope i helped you!
Saw your review on CG. Just got the same grinder. Happy with it, too. Do you adjust the grind while it's grinding or when it's stopped? The manual doesn't say. The rep told me when stopped, which makes sense given that you need two hands to adjust it but I wanted to hear your thoughts.
Well, I adjust it while off. I think it could be damaged if you do it while running, but don't really know. Hope you can get the best out of this grinder :)
Molti grazie. I think most other grinders warn that they must be adjusted while running. If you haven't hurt yours yet, at a stop must be the right way!
Don't know why, but at 19sec with the light breeze passing trough the white curtains around the wooden window I felt like in Italy. With an espresso of course.
illy is widely available here, do you really like the brand? if so what blend do you prefer.
The point with coffee brands is that they don't sell beans, but only grounded coffee, for moka and often for espresso. But those I tried were really horrible (I remember only Pellini, right now). I've never found Illy for espresso (but haven't tried very hard...). In this period I prefer to buy Trismoka (used in this video) for coffee and latte or for affogati (ice cream with hot espresso poured over it), and cru (see the other video) for normal coffee. Now I'm trying Chickmagalùr Karnataka.

@cizentium As you can see hovering the mouse over the can when i put it down, it's Trismoka, I only use the can from Illy.

Where did you get the plastic cup that sits in the filter? I'm spilling my ground coffee everywhere!

Eheh... It's just a plastic cup with no bottom, I cut it off. Works great and costs just a few cents ;)
