"In July 1944, the 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion reported knocking out 53 Tigers and Panthers and 15 STUG IIIs with a loss of just 17 M18s." Were there possibly other armor that were lost but never reported?
""In July 1944, the 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion reported knocking out 53 Tigers and Panthers and 15 STUG IIIs with a loss of just 17 M18s.""
Where on earth do you get that from mate? That sounds like pure fantasy, or at least wrong tank identification.
There weren't ANY Tigers facing 630th Tank Destroyer Battalion in July 1944. The 3 Tiger units in Normandy were all in the British sector around Caen and nowhere near the US sector.
The production of the Tiger or Panzer VI was detrimental to the Third Reich. The tank is powerful but this is countered by it's complexity, lack of reliability, costs, and fuel comsumption. It would have been wiser to produce more Panzer V(Panther) or more Panzer IV tanks. The Germans are remarkable engineers but this resulted in their folly. Now it's the opposite with the automobile industry and etc.
Also don't forget that the Panther did not exist when the Tiger first saw combat. The Tiger was ready fro action in late 1942. The Panther didn't see combat until July 1943 and even then it had many teething problems and design flaws. It wasn't until Feb '44 that the Panther was declared fully combat capable.
The Tiger I had seen almost a year and a half of service by then.
The Tiger I was a very valuable and useful tank in 1943/first half '44. Production ended in summer '44.
""The production of the Tiger or Panzer VI was detrimental to the Third Reich""
Around 10,000 knocked out allied AFVs says otherwise. In many instances the Tiger tanks slowed down and even halted allied advances. They had an enormous psychological benefit to the German soldier and an enormous psychological dread to the allied soldier.
The Tiger was a valuable and very effective weapon for the German panzer forces.
Any claims otherwise are post war armchair revisionist guff.
@LaughingGravy31 I have a question for you. It seems you have excellent points but wasn't the Tiger I that delayed the battle of Kursk? Adolf Hitler ordered the troops to wait until the new tank could make it to the field. This may have given the Soviets time to prepare for the battle. Also, wasn't the allied T-34/85 or M18 Hellcat proven to be able to best the Tiger and Panther or was there another tank or factor?
No it was the new Panther tank and the 90 or so Ferdinands that delayed the Battle of Kursk in July 1943. The Tiger I was ready long before Kursk, first seeing service in September 1942 near Leningrad, then further around the Leningrad front, in North Africa from December 1942 to May 1943, the Manych River/Kalmyk Steppe area in Jan 1943 and Kharkov in Feb/March 1943.
The Tiger I had already seen battle experience in 8 panzer different units long before Kursk took place.
I should clarify. At Kursk, Hitler wanted to wait for the new combat debut of the Panther and Ferdinand. It'sd also true he did want more Tiger ready but also other tanks as well.
Many new tanks/AFVs made their combat debut at Kursk in July 1943. Not only the Panther and the Ferdinand but also the Panzer IV ausf H, the Brummbar, Nashorn, Hummel etc. Hitler wanted more of all of them.
At normal combat ranges and in a frontal engagement the T-34/85 and M18 Hellcat had virtually zero chance of besting a Tiger I or a Panther.
That's really much it in a nutshell. But often other factors came into play such as flanking manoeuvres, use of the ground, ambush or just plain mass attacks where the German tanks were simply outnumbered and overwhelmed.
@LaughingGravy31 Thank you for actually explaining in detail on that. I hardly get the chance to meet an intelligent person in Youtube who can elaborate on their points.
@LaughingGravy31 columbiarules and kingkzt are the same person.he has other accounts where he claims he is a ww veteran, historian, musician etc. he does it only to make himself sound correct.the funniest thing is he is older than 40. a sick jingoist who hates black people and a god damn liar. comments he doesnt like get spammed after some time. discussions with him are a waste of time. you mentioned several zealots :D, there is only one. all of them are one and the same person
@Ixtzalit You are a joke IXtzabit. I am 45 years older than 40, I never claimed. to be a muscian, (I am Black, graduated from Tuskegee Institute which was and still is a predominately Black Univ)Served withthe 761st tank Bn (all Black unit) You and the spilled gravy are the only zealots who revise their nazi gods expolits at at every worship At least my few exploits are my own and real
You disgraceful cvnt. I'm an Englishman and my country declared war on Nazi Germany long before your country did.
You don't have to be a 'Nazi worshipper' to recognise historical facts and truths. The Tiger tank was an awesome weapon and had a very high kill ratio, didn't break down nearly as much as post war revisionists would have us believe.
Unlike you I'm not a jingoistic buffoon who thinks my country is the best at everything. The Germans smacked the USA hard. FACT

Yes I totally believe that to be a fact.
There aren't many people posting on this video and suddenly within a short space of time he has over a dozen plusses on his posts. Who the fvck are these people plussing him all the time? They aren't posting here and showing themselves or actually arguing their case. No, they just repeatedly plus his posts. It's obvious he is plussing his own posts under numerous different accounts.
he is an american jingoist. this guy is a joke. i suggest you ignore him or you ll get a neverending story because he will talk shit no matter what you say. i know him for years. if you check all the comments then you will discover some 2-3 years old comments from him. echeque5, columbiarules, sgtking and i think 4 other accounts(i dont remember the names) from this site belong to him. this moron has also multiple facebook accounts. i dont even read his bullshit anymore

Well he can't answer our actual points so instead he marks down our posts via his multiple accounts in the hope that our posts become hidden with a "This comment has received too many negative votes" heading, which is very very pathetic.

@SgtKingK dont write to me pls, you re a chavinistic and jingoistic psychopath with several accounts who loves to copy sources from forums and wikipedia, thats just my opinion. i dont write with jingoists.
@Ixtzalit You don't even understand the words you are using. Your opinion is your own and they are like anuses, everyone has one and from time to time they all stink. Yours more than others. I am not a member of any forum and please show us all the accountsI have and where;other wise take differing opinions like a Man rather than a whiny ,androgony
Those Tigers you mentioned were not from Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506. They were from Schwere SS Panzer Abteilung 501 (formerly 101). ALL are photographed and ALL were detailed as being lost by the Germans. They are in their combat diaries and war records. The Germans list 15 King Tigers as being lost during the Ardennes.
My favourite 'phantom' King Tiger is from Dessau in April 1945 that was 'allegedly' destroyed by the only Super Pershing in the entire ETO.
The story is so obviously bullcrap. There were never any King Tigers within 70 miles of Dessau and not one picture exists of this alleged King Tiger destroyed by a Super Pershing at Dessau. It would have been the centre of much attention (like the picture we do have of the Tiger I k.o'd by a regular Pershing near Elsdorf.
@LaughingGravy31 i found the article in which it explains the event of the 'super pershing'....i had to laugh when i read it ,for only the best tankers got the King Tigers and why someone would drive up a mound of shingle/dirt exposing the underbelly of their tank to the enemy without the need to even move is beyond me....just total BS
Yes the Super Pershing v King Tiger at Dessau never happened. The Germans have no record of it and the nearest King Tiger were 70 miles away to the northeast fighting the Soviets around Berlin.
A King Tiger knocked out by a Super Pershing in a big town would have been fully documented, photographed and would have become an object of interest to everyone.
Not even 1 picture exists, no King Tiger unit is given and even the local German Dessau historians have no knowledge about this.
@LaughingGravy31 too true,if an 18yr old gunner in an experimental tank took out a king tiger in its first encounter, there would be photos of all the crew standing over her and posing especialy with the tigers number clearly visible for propoganda...after all the allies had control of the area after the battle so the so-called dead tiger would have still been there
Yep, spot on my friend. This phantom King Tiger k.o'd by a Super Pershing at Dessau would have been the source of much posing and picture taking...especially as the war soon ended and Dessau remained in American hands for a while. It would have been a glorious photo opportunity for some time.
Yet not even 1 picture exists and the Germans have no record of any Tigers in Dessau.
They send out a Super Pershing to 'find' a King Tiger...and it magically finds one in place none ever were?
In contrast, the Tiger I knocked out by a regular Pershing at Elsdorf in February 1945 most certainly IS documented with pictures, the German Tiger unit is known to us and the Germans themselves recognize and record this Tiger I loss to a Pershing.
American author Steve Zaloga in his book "Armored Thunderbolt" also doubts that a Super Pershing found and knocked out a King Tiger at Dessau. The Germans just didn't HAVE any King Tigers (or even Tiger Is) anywhere near Dessau.
You seen that ColumbiaRules has 14 pluses on one of his posts? How many accounts has this guy got? His post is complete rubbish and totally incorrect yet it's got 14 pluses??
""Is every one with a differing opinion wrong to you?""
No, just you and your dozen or so different accounts. A number of people have told you you post under different accounts on various videos and I believe them.
There is no way your ridiculous posts would be plussed so much unless you had multiple accounts patting yourself on the back.
Your posts are full of errors and outright bullshit.
There isn't even any unit named for this 'phantom' King Tiger at Dessau, the Germans don't have any record of it. Not one scrap of evidence exists that a Super Pershing destroyed a King Tiger.
The odds of the two tank types even meeting in late April 1945 are so preposterous.I'd say 'coincidentally' lucky. There was only 1 Super Pershing in the entire ETO and less than 30 King Tigers still in action in the whole of Germany around Berlin fighting the Soviets not US.

1943 A TIGER 1 in the 503 took 227 hits from antitank rifles and 14 hits from a 57mm then 11 more rounds from a 76mm antitank gun and still was able to drive 60km under its own power to be fixed all in one battle,NO amierican tank could take that!

Yes. Exactly. This was Tiger number 121 of battalion 503. There are pictures of Tiger number 121 with all these hits on it's armour. Incredible and nope, no American tank of WW2 could have survived all that.
@OHNGAI Blah blah fucking blah....A single American soldier..An Infantrymen...single handedly is credited with destoying 6 of those tanks all by himself....along with killing 240. German infantry..ALL BY HIMSELF. and he did it while standing on top of a burning US tank the german ones had destoyed.. For his efforts Audie Murphy won the CMH.. THE SAME MEDAL MACARTHUR WON....But since your retarded....hes probably a cowad too....
@shellback1970 fuckin liar audie murphy took control of a .50cal on a damaged M10 and used its radio to direct artillery on an advancing german company the battle lasted 1 hr ...not bad. no where does his combat record state he knocked out 6 TIGER1's single handed.....YOU ARE FULL OF SHIT!
@OHNGAI A Boys anti tank rifle was essentially obsolete as was the 57mm AT gun by 1943. Could it hav sustainted the same damage but form an MM3 90mmgun with HVAP? No Could a Pershing have suffered the same damage Probably
@SgtKingK DIPSHIT, you are talking about THEORETICAL.i'm talking about 'actual' fact not american fantasy, reply when you got a real fact, not wishfull thinking!
ussr lost 12,000,000 soldiers germany 3,250,000 soldiers that gives a 4-1 kill ratio in favour of the germans.....in 1939 ussr had 194 divisions and by 1945 had 488 divisions, now lets look at the size of the so-called won everything usa....1939..8 divisions by 1945..94 divisions, the soviets did not need the crap that the yanks made!
What the fvck is all this negative voting going on? All the best replies with facts have been voted down while the shit that Shellback and JohnQuincyAdams write is voted up.
@LaughingGravy31 yeah, he is mad....but everyone can see that he is resposable for that.
to patton, he was still better then the rest of american officers, thats what i meant, i didnt mean he achieved something unusual. germans got alot of problems( bad supply line, no ressources, nor air or artillery support) that was the reason why they were losing to the allies. no matter how skilled an officer is he still cant do much if he hasnt the necessary ressources. thats what i meant
Seriously I can't see why Patton was better than Bradley/Hodges. It was Bradley/Hodges who won the American sector in Normandy, Bradley/Hodges who won the Battle of the Bulge (with Montgomery)and Bradley/Hodges who broke through the West Wall and the Ruhr Pocket.
Patton did comparatively less than Bradley/Hodges.
Patton was very good at speeding quickly against little or no opposition. Less good in attritional slug fests or when coming up against fortified defences.
Yes indeed you are very correct about the German problems with resources, no air support etc.
That's why I think the fight that thee Germans put up in 1944/45 was very impressive and more impressive than what the allies achieved.
The western allies especially really struggled against a depleted and numerically inferior German army in 1944/45. Seven months to move 150 miles from eastern France to the river Rhine from early September 1944 to end March 1945. Seven months!!
@LaughingGravy31 thats exactly what i ve been thinking. 7 months, attacked from all sides by super powers and their allies, no ressources, no support, weakened economy due to bombardments, and still they could hold for 7 months. i also think its impressive(and i am not german)
i admit i dont know that much about hogdes and bradley, i ve just known their names and divisions but i ve never known how they acted or how significant their roles were.
Well when it comes to the US Army in 1944/45 it was Bradley/Hodges who came up against tougher German divisions and more of them. It was Bradley/Hodges in the Bocage in Normandy, it was Bradley/Hodges taking on the German 'Westwall' at Aachen and Hurtgen. It was Bradley/Hodges who stopped the Germans in the Battle of the Bulge. It was Bradley/Hodges who took the bridge at Remagen and then surrounded 300,000 Germans in the Ruhr Pocket.

you re even plussing your own comments and negativing others comments with many different accounts...your too patriotic attitude has made you mad. i am absolutely serious about it, i am not trying to insult you saying that
he didnt read even one book about WWII. i asked about the first letter on site 34(tigers in combat) and he couldnt answer yet he claimed he has the book. his answers are limited because he gets infos from forums
you re a patriot who spreads false informations SINCE YEARS USING MANY DIFFERENT ACCOUNTS and plussing his own comments. you also talk trash on other channels(chess, cars, music etc.) and say that you re proffesor, musician, veteran and and and...it seems to be your hobby, go get wife. and dont say me that you re married, i know that you re a liar(iTs obvious
@LaughingGravy31 Gravy your facts are off. On 19-20 November at Puffendorf the US lost 26 Shermans and Stuart light tanks with 56 kille in action for 17 Panzers (3 King Tigers set ablaze from 155mm artillery) North of Frieldenhoven an M-36 TD destroyed a Royal Tiger at 1200yds, passing through the turret, gun breach and into the opposite wall,The following day in the course of 3 engagements 2 more Royal Tigers were destroyed . Harry Yiede, The Longest Battle pp,149-151
Only ONE King Tiger was lost at Puffendorf 19-20 November not 'three' as you claim. This was a 3rd company tank of Stabsfeldwebel Kannenburg, who was posthumously awarded the Ritterkreuze.
Schwere Panzer Abteiling 506 didn't lose another King Tiger until 28th November, some 10 days later at Freialdenhoven.
Source 'Tigers Combat I page 321 by Wolfgang Schneider'.
@LaughingGravy31 Not my claim, dispute this with Harry Yiede , General Major von Elverfeldt's note ( he was there , Schneider was not ) US Army Report of Operations, ! Aug 1944-22 Feb 1945, 702AAR combat Diary. Based on the eventual out come these sourcee aand eyewitness accounts are far more accurate than your nazi fantasies
@LaughingGravy31 Everything that is in the Bundes Archive is the Librairy of Congress and the US National Archive . We have KT 332, physically in Ft Benning GA, Read Greg Walden's Tigers in the Ardienne ( or the website of the same name) and you will see photos KT, 211, 213, 133, 008, 334,222 all destoyed. This not include the ones abandoned intact such as 204, which GI's drove off (til the engine failed). You don't have the photos but WE do as well as an actual tank
The various Tiger books have photos of all those King Tigers from the Ardennes. Wolfgang Schneider's books have them, as does Jean Restayn's book and others.
The website called:
'Tiger Im Focus'
(Google it)......is probably the best online source for Tiger photos available.
@LaughingGravy31 Really not that much of a fan Seen one, touched, one sat inside the cut away of 332 not really impressed by the vehicle, concept, or design
Personally having seen the Bovington King Tiger up close (the 'Porsche' one) I'd say it is easily the most physically impressive and imposing tank of WW2.
Sure it was heavy and had breakdowns but it's overall average operational ratio status was around 68%..which wasn't much less than the Panzer IV and Panther. In defence (which Germany was in 1944/45)it was an excellent weapon. Badly suited for the Ardennes though, but then the Panthers/Panzer IVs didn't do much better either.
Even a Jadgpanzer IV at 'just' 25 tons collapsed a bridge at Petis Spai during the Ardennes offensive. The whole Ardennes offensive was a doomed gamble that had little chance of success from the start and was a bad choice in winter for speedy tank advances, no matter what size the tanks were. The roads were narrow and twisty and often going ion the wrong direction and there were too many rivers and bridges. Even the smaller Panzer IVs and Stugs has problems moving quickly.
""Everything that is in the Bundes Archive is the Librairy of Congress and the US National Archive ""
No it isn't. That's a complete exaggeration. And also the Librairy of Congress and the US National Archive does NOT have the personal combat diaries and accounts of the German Tiger tankers themselves.
You know what is amusing? To see the original pictures with the original American captions. It's funny because the Americans almost always referred to Panthers as 'Tigers'.
@LaughingGravy31 Yes they do, unless it was a private diary taht was never publsihed at all . Come to DC and do your search. Your Anti Americanism is what's amusing. coupled with your fanatic adoration of the failed German Reich
""Yes they do, unless it was a private diary taht was never publsihed at all""
Lol, it wasn't private. Belton Cooper wrote about it in his book. There is not a shred of evidence for the Super Pershing v King Tiger engagement at Dessau. There weren't even any King Tigers anywhere near Dessau. We know EXACTLY where they were and none were there at Dessau.
""Come to DC and do your search.""
It's already been tried.A German author from Dessau found zero evidence and no records.
""your fanatic adoration of the failed German Reich""
LOL, I'm an Englishman. My country declared war on Nazi Germany in 1939. Yours didn't. Your country sat on it's arse until Hitler declared war on YOU.
My grandfather was in the RAF, my great uncle was a British paratrooper. I'm not a devoted Nazi. I'm devoted to HISTORICAL FACTS AND ACCURACY....from whichever side.
All I hear from some jingoistic Americans here is a lot of arrogance and "we were the best" bullshite.
Your blind American jingoism can't even accept that the Germans were a damn tough lot.
Us Brits recognize and admit how tough and good troops the Germans were. As soldiers there was mutual admiration. I'm never met a British veteran who has nothing but admiration for the fighting ability and toughness of the average German soldier.
In contrast all I hear from American jingoists is how they "rolled" the Germans and how the Germans never had a chance against the 'great USA'.
Is it or is it not a FACT that in total the German army inflicted a higher rate of casualties per ratio than any of the allies armies inflicted on them?
Yes it damn well is. You don't have to be a Nazi supporter to accept with and agree with that. You just need to know your historical facts.
You shouldn't be blind sided by national or patriotic jingoism. FACTS aren't anything to do with patriotism and jingoism. You shouldn't let nationality get in the way of the facts.
American troops and personal claimed they were fighting and knocking out 'Tigers' even inn places where there were no Tigers.
I saw a documentary on Patton the other month. It said he came up against King Tigers during his advance across France well to the south of Paris.
Hilarious. No he didn't. The only King Tigers were north of Paris near Mantes and then further to the east pulling back towards the Belgian border....some 100 miles north of Patton's army.
According to "US 2nd. ARMORED DIVISION '1940-45" by Philip Katcher, the division lost virtually all of 2 companies of medium tanks and 1 company of light tanks at Puffendorf on 17th November.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 how does it feel having several accounts and plussing you own comments :) you re a jealous patriotic freak who cant acept the fact that germans were further concerning warfare and hasd the strongest army in the world. nationalists in america are like brainlss puppets who get controlled...you shouldnt be proud of it, you should think about it, thats just my opinion... yes, germans didnt fear the ush, soviet union was the biggest threat
"" how does it feel having several accounts and plussing you own comments :) ""
Not only does his use multiple accounts to plus his own comments but he also uses uses multiple accounts to downmark everyone who is arguing against him.
@JohnQuincyAdams1 yep, the germans always tried to rpove their superiority by making machines that were unecessarily complicated. Just look at the Panther, that was surposed to be an eqivalent for the T-34 and it's twice the size.
@soundslave - Correct. Towards the latter part of WWII when it was clear that Nazi Germany would be defeated, Hitler became desperate to find a, "super weapon", that would save his rear end and the Tiger II was supposed to be that weapon. It failed, miserably. Most of these never even saw combat as they were broken down so much. What examples weren't broken down ran out of fuel and were abandoned with gas tanks gasping for gasoline.
"" Correct. Towards the latter part of WWII when it was clear that Nazi Germany would be defeated, Hitler became desperate to find a, "super weapon", that would save his rear end and the Tiger II was supposed to be that weapon.""
Completely incorrect. The Tiger II was starting to be designed in January 1943. This was even before Kursk and at a time before it was 'clear' that Germany would be defeated.
Did or did not The King Tigers of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 smash the US 2nd Armored Division at Puffendorf, Germany on 17th November 1944?
Yes or no?
2nd Armored Division lost nearly 60 tanks that day and the King Tiger became an object of dread to tankers of 2nd Armored. They lived in fear of it and the US army never did proceed much further than Puffendorf for the following 4 months.
LOL, BAR, couldn't hit a barn with that thing past 200m and it only had a tiny 20 round magazine, not exactly a support weapon is it. I would rather use the mp40, more accurate and lighter to carry, and the Thompson was heavy, inaccurate and out of date.
@AngelisMortis01 - You'd do well to do a Search of YouTube using Keywords -> Browning Automatic Rifle. It was a very powerful and effective weapon. Take care.
I'd take the MP40 over the Thompson. The Thompson was basically a heavy sprayer that just wasted bullets instead of being accurate with a decent range.
@AngelisMortis01 Thats a lie I own a BAR and in semi mode I could knock your head off at 1000m with the 7.62x63 round and 500m semi. My Kahr arms Thompson M1927 with 100 round mag and machime rather tahn stamped recever would riddle you at 150 meters
@ColumbiaRules on the range with a bipod and stock rest, the BAR is accurate, but most were removed in the field to reduce weight, and it them became a very heavy and inaccurate shoulder fired automatic weapon with only a 20 round mag. 150 yard range with the Thompson is very respectable, the early forged receivers give a better range than the later stamped ones.
Wow! I didn't think they had one in Bovington museum??

LaughingGravy31 4 weeks ago
The production of the Tiger or Panzer VI was detrimental to the Third Reich. The tank is powerful but this is countered by it's complexity, lack of reliability, costs, and fuel comsumption. It would have been wiser to produce more Panzer V(Panther) or more Panzer IV tanks. The Germans are remarkable engineers but this resulted in their folly. Now it's the opposite with the automobile industry and etc.
blitzwaffe 1 month ago 2
@blitzwaffe
What you are forgetting is that more Panthers and Panzer IVs need more crew, more ammo, more railway flat wagons, more supply trucks etc.
One Tiger takes a crew of 5 and 92 rounds of ammo.
You build more Panzer IVs then you need more crew, more ammo, more petrol, more railway flat wagons, more supply trucks etc.
It's no as simple a solution as you might think.
LaughingGravy31 1 month ago
@blitzwaffe
LaughingGravy31 1 month ago
@blitzwaffe
LaughingGravy31 1 month ago
@LaughingGravy31 I have a question for you. It seems you have excellent points but wasn't the Tiger I that delayed the battle of Kursk? Adolf Hitler ordered the troops to wait until the new tank could make it to the field. This may have given the Soviets time to prepare for the battle. Also, wasn't the allied T-34/85 or M18 Hellcat proven to be able to best the Tiger and Panther or was there another tank or factor?
blitzwaffe 4 weeks ago
@blitzwaffe
Hi,
No it was the new Panther tank and the 90 or so Ferdinands that delayed the Battle of Kursk in July 1943.

""Also, wasn't the allied T-34/85 or M18 Hellcat proven to be able to best the Tiger and Panther or was there another tank or factor?""
Well all tanks can 'best' the other if the situations are favourable. A small Hetzer could best a JS-2 if the situation was right.
The Tiger and Panther were considerably superior to the T-34/85 and M18 Hellcat. Far better guns and far better armour.
Still, both T-34/85 and Hellcat could defeat the Tiger I and Panther at close range/flanks.
LaughingGravy31 4 weeks ago
@blitzwaffe
LaughingGravy31 4 weeks ago
@blitzwaffe
LaughingGravy31 4 weeks ago
@LaughingGravy31 Thank you for actually explaining in detail on that. I hardly get the chance to meet an intelligent person in Youtube who can elaborate on their points.

Those Tigers you mentioned were not from Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506. They were from Schwere SS Panzer Abteilung 501 (formerly 101).
LaughingGravy31 1 month ago

They did FAR MORE than Patton did in 1944/45.

The "piece of junk" that smashed US 2nd armored division at Puffendorf in November 1944?
I don't think you'll find any 2nd Armored division tankers who called the King Tiger a "piece of junk".
Idiot.

No YOUR facts are off.

That is getting on towards 60 tanks.

JohnQuincyAdams1 1 month ago 7
@JohnQuincyAdams1 yep, the germans always tried to rpove their superiority by making machines that were unecessarily complicated. Just look at the Panther, that was surposed to be an eqivalent for the T-34 and it's twice the size.
soundslave 1 month ago 16
@soundslave - Correct. Towards the latter part of WWII when it was clear that Nazi Germany would be defeated, Hitler became desperate to find a, "super weapon", that would save his rear end and the Tiger II was supposed to be that weapon. It failed, miserably. Most of these never even saw combat as they were broken down so much. What examples weren't broken down ran out of fuel and were abandoned with gas tanks gasping for gasoline.

Completely incorrect. The Tiger II was starting to be designed in January 1943. This was even before Kursk and at a time before it was 'clear' that Germany would be defeated.

The Tiger II had an operational status of around 68% overall and most of them DID see combat.
If you go to the war diaries of each Tiger unit you can easily see how many they used at each time.
I'm gonna ask you a question now.
How many Tiger IIs did Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 have on 15th March 1945 and how many were operational?

Did or did not The King Tigers of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 506 smash the US 2nd Armored Division at Puffendorf, Germany on 17th November 1944?
Yes or no?
2nd Armored Division lost nearly 60 tanks that day and the King Tiger became an object of dread to tankers of 2nd Armored. They lived in fear of it and the US army never did proceed much further than Puffendorf for the following 4 months.
FACT.

LOL, BAR, couldn't hit a barn with that thing past 200m and it only had a tiny 20 round magazine, not exactly a support weapon is it. I would rather use the mp40, more accurate and lighter to carry, and the Thompson was heavy, inaccurate and out of date.
