  • AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA BLUE SCREEN

  • FAIL

  • sorry i forgot to subscribe

  • Will I be able to populate all 4 sockets of (LP) ram (1155 mobo) while using NH-D14 cooling?

  • @miodowar69 I think so, but check the official Noctua website for a list of compatible RAM and Motherboards

  • CUSTOM LCS is better PERFORMING, closed loop still have it's advantages,>price, and simplicity, but nothing is cooler and better performing than custom LCS

  • nh-d14 may be better but it's massive D: if you care about aesthetics of your system you'll go for h100

  • 1) Radiator needs to stand up with tubes on the bottom, because the top of the radiator has function as expansion chamber. This point is proven in many tests to have huge impact on radiators performance, even when the manufacturer tells it should had no effect.

    2) Blocking intake or outtake of fan have considerable effect on airflow, thus on performance too.

If you try to do proffesional vieo, next time try to study some basic facts and physical principles.

  • @KoudZ expansion chamber? lol, have you got any links to the test you mention?

  • @KoudZ agree with you, he made a lot of mistakes, but nevertheless, a h70 sucks compare to a serious aircooler ^^

all the h-products are for people with less space or for those who want to ship the system. or for people just thinking "oh its watercooled, that means it´s great!"

i´m not saying they are completely garbage, but no comparison with serious air or watercooling. and it´s nnot that cheap at all...

  • @sokrutu But on the other hand, a H80 & a H100 smokes the Noctua D14..

  • @xBruflot H100 is on par with NH-D14, if you take the noise into consideration then the NH-D14 wins clearly.

  • @xBruflot an h80 doesnt "smoke" a d14. an h100 is at the same level or a little better, BUT with decent fans on it! an this fans cost another 20-100 bucks. so you end up having a kit, just a little cooler than the d14 for double the price. and your mosfets n stuff get hot as f*ck. no reason to buy this h-whatever things unless you ship the system far or you have no place to put a decent aircooler. i think people just think "oh look, its water so its gonna be great".

  • Which way is the best way to install the Noctua NH-D14? The 120 fan facing the front of the case or facing the back of the case.

  • @ZeoVII 120 facing towards the back is the best, because the 120 is pulling air away from the towers so having it facing the back would let the air escape the case quickly.

  • water>air, everytime... water pulls away more energy than air, hence has more density than air.

  • @FrosTaii NH-D14 > Contained liquid cooling loop

If your talking custom liquid then its obvious...

  • Good to know Ill mount this huge bad shit in my case and overclock i5 2500k to least 4.5 . Also the coolers like H70 has short lifetime thats why my grandfather's ancient cccp made radiator still runs O_o

  • A bit of an unfair test, since where you are keeping the radiator it is bllocking the airflow a bit.

  • bluescreen at the end of the video?

    lol!

  • this thing is too big, is gonna break my mobo lol

  • This shit looks like the engine of a small model car

  • lets see the Cooler Master V10 :), i thought the Noctura was big then i saw the V10....... lmao

  • blue screen

  • because he test em on a bench case, and it doesnt have any fans like on a case

  • Wow thats nuts. I don't think the h80 is radically different from the h70. I have the h80 and even running 1.37Vcore under load at 4.7ghz my temps go nowhere near 80c at full load hours into prime95. The highest temps I've seen with my h80 is 62c at full load. From what I gather here the noctura SUCKS compared to my H80

  • can i be you for a day

  • mine cpu is cooler running prime95 and i dont have that cpu fan or a watercooler

  • @xadam123 but is it as fast?

  • Comment removed

  • how your CPU survived this??

  • @FirefoxPL It didn't, did you see the blue screen at the end? Yeah he overclocked it like a bitch and it got WAYY too hot.

  • the thing ur pc is on...is it a stand i can buy?

  • @Peice0Cornbread checkout highspeed pc.com

  • damn that sucks i would be bummed if i blue screened on a cpu temp test specially for education purposes like this

  • Firstly - Id never use noctua fans on anything else but an air cooler - Sure they are quiet but their static pressure sucks - I have a Antec 920 with 2 Scythe 1850rpm GTs cooling a 2500k@4.9Ghz prime95 stable for 12hrs and my temps never even got close to 60'c the entire time.

  • @FinalFreedomEclipse Ya same here I have a Corsair H80. Woth the stock fans that come with the H80 My 2600k which I run an ass smacking 1.39Vcore on load though NEVER rise above 60c after hours and hours of Prime95. Honestly I have had several air coolers and this H80 blows all of them out of the water when it comes to temps and noise. My CM V8 I had B4 never stood a chance

  • i have a transformer 4 heat sync it is a massive fuck and hard ass hell to get in my small case but works good

  • He didn't blue screen dumbasses, you would have seen the screen do the little artifacting thing it does.

  • I got a genius way to cool down your system very effectively. Submerse it in liquid nitogen. That should do the trick. Your system will never overheat.

  • lag shit now i have to go back tp 240p why linus

  • BSOD.....*pause*......and thank you for checking out my video LOL

  • My H100 gets me temps of at the highest 66C when having my i5 2500K @4.6Ghz on prime95

  • @unicyclefinatic i get only 60C with NH-D14 and 2500K @4.5GHz @1.385v . what's your voltage and ambient temp?

  • @bgioni Voltage was at 1.38v but was having some stability issues so i am still working on it.

  • i understand the science behind how watercooling works but people make a huge deal out of it but i always wondered y people wont just use coolant instead of Water

  • @AF1KingKid Thats what a lot of people do use, its not technically water most of the time it almost like baby oil

  • 4:01 Blue Screen, 4:02 *silence*

  • Noctua: "Lets make some epic cooling systems and paint the fans shit brown!"

  • what is the monitor used in the video

  • Good friend, where you bought your box or like you did?

  • It seems that Noctua fans aren't meant for the H70.

  • ofc the BSOD was his screensaver.. lol

  • video is irrelevant. non cooled parts from the motherboard(no case) ....what would u spect? plus you get BSOD? was the chip overclocked? the motherboard fail...the ram too...nothing is to help with the heat...bare that in mind.....

  • @poloz7 but they were both tested in the same conditions so they had an equal chance its equal to testing it in the same case with same airflow this isn't what temps you will get its which proves better

  • If it isn't stable on Prime95, you will blue screen... Not uncommon.

  • WHY would you stop the fan with your hand????

  • all this for only 4.7 ghz :P omg

  • pauses at 4:02 to examine the BSOD

  • SINISTRO MANOW

  • Can you replace the fans? because this looks like a good cooler, but I hate the colouring of the noctua fans.

  • 4:00 :D

  • noctua may be great quality but by god sure is a ugly heatsink and wtf is up with that color man.

  • Most likely stupid question inc: How the hell did he get his temp up to 70/80 degrees celsius when using the H70?

At 100% load for many hours my CPU won't go above 43, never EVER.

    I got a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition @ 3.6Ghz.

  • @OshiroTG considering he blue screened at the end he's probably running his processor well into the 4.5-4.8Ghz range

  • @majikman85 Yeaaah.. That might be :) For some reason it doesn't how in the vid :(

  • @OshiroTG He's at 4.7 ghz lol

  • Nice screensaver - 4:01 XD

  • can you cake a comparison between the noctua and the corsair H100?

    thanks anyway

  • hahahaha

  • Haha, he pause for a second after it bluescreened, he didn't think we would notice, just like the government =D what a bitch

  • Linus, What about the corsair vengeance Ram will it fit of is it too tall for the D14

  • the noctua is sooo uggo...

  • ayyyy what you think about Battle field. =)

  • Since when the hell did hard drives become engine blocks?

  • how does h100 compare to these?

  • Go the H70 if you have a shitty case because you can mount the heatsink externally... Kinda...

  • I forgot to subscribe...

  • im sure that BSOD was his screensaver at 4:00 :P

  • @SuperMgs2011 nah cause he stopped and looked at it lol, you can tell.

  • lol lol blue screen with Corsair H70

  • im going to get one for cristmas after seeing this video:)

  • @guitarherofreak161 It's a tech bench. You can get one at highspeedpcdotcom or look around Newegg.

  • where did you get that stand you use for MB tests?

  • lol@ bsod at the end

  • Test it aghainst the H100 and then youll see.

  • @Grippen98 H100 is on-par with the D14. I think the fact that nothing has come along and beat it outright says a lot about Noctua and their product design.

  • Its been out for 3 years and nothing fan wise still beats it....

    Thumbs up Noctua.

  • uhm, when you passed your screen, it said your version of windows is not genuine?!?!?!

  • @nna737 Because it's probably a fresh install. YOu get 30 days free every time you do a new install and if you are always doing fresh installs every other week, not point activating it and then wipe it 2 weeks later.

  • @3Z3K13L08 i'd disagree with you but you do have a point

  • @3Z3K13L08 yet at the same time wouldnt it say this version has not been activated instead of not geniune?

  • Big issue with H70 if you hook the fans up via the attachment connector it limits them to 1.4k RPM.

  • Blue screen

  • he looks like eminem

  • will this chill my bear @_@

  • gosh why is your radiator upside down, the pump will suck up air in the tubes and pump! the nosrel of the radiator should be on the lower so no air can be sucked up! that not how you mount a water cool system! of course it will be higher!

  • this shit is not valid unit he installs this stuff in a case! none of us are going to run are system like this. the temps are unless in open air setup take it from pcwizkid

  • Did u jst get a blue screen ???? O_O

  • Listen stupid asses, the case is designed to direct airflow in a certain direction. The coolers are designed to work with that in mind. So with taking that into consideration niggers are lazy thank you

  • LOLLOLOLOLOLOL HE BLUE SCREENED @4:01

  • @jackson25294 lol i notced that

  • @jackson25294 lol i saw it tooXD

  • @jackson25294 screen saver?

  • @jackson25294 LOL too much heat! That's pretty hot lol.

  • @jackson25294 LOLOLOLOLOL He has an overclocked CPU which he probably hasn't tested with any stress test program for a longer period of time and he BSOD-ed -.-

  • Corsair just got their ass handed to them by the King Kong of Air Coolers, the Legendary Noctua D-14

  • 4:02 lolol BlueScreen bottom left

  • yess linus the extra fans add $40 already the h70 is $50 more expensive

  • WoW, what a tarded test, how are you going to hang the H70 on the side like that and think the temps would be accurate?

  • @tboybmx

lol what? how does this affect the performance? If it does it will increase the performance because it`s not in a case.. It`s screwed in(that`s a fan mount for the techbench)

  • @LKxDESIGN LMAO What? You seriously think thats a way to perform a test with the h70 hanging like that and have some obstruction in it's way? If you're going to test something do it right is all I'm saying.

  • @tboybmx - Its not different than if it were attached to the back of a case. Actually, this way will probably produce lower temps.

  • awkward silence.

  • someone plz tell me which would perform better with overclocked 17 2600k at 5.0 ghz noctua nh-d14 or h100?

  • @Techthisbuffalo H100

    ANYDAY

one of the best out there.

  • @madimakhi1 k thanks

  • LOBSOD!

  • Comment removed

  • clock speed said 0 mhz??

  • I like the length of this video.

  • looked like lego in the thumbnail

  • After 4 hours of prime idles at 25-28

  • Are these temps right? My zalman cnps 9900max and my p ii 970 at 4.3 which was highest i could get maxed out at 63c

  • @DroidWiired Someone told me that AMD proccessors run at lower temps than Intel. But I don't have anything to back it up other than what he told me. You could do a google search about it to be sure.

  • @0peppers AMD could run cooler, but intel has a high resistance which means they wont burn as easy. Ofc they are better too.

  • @JkNone Yup. Both have advantages and disadvantages but I think Intel is better too. Hasn't failed me yet.

  • the h70 is a joke

  • ALMOST 90c????????????????

  • i have Scythe Ninja 3, my max tempature is 54c stock settings :O

  • @m4ht1sonni I have a scythe mugen 2 rev.b and my max is 39 stock settings :S

  • the main difference i guess, is the size, air coolling requieres a huge case to load the gigantic fin towers. watercooling can be much smaller and perform quite as well.

  • @Jolinator i oced my i5 2500k at 4.6ghz on air with a cm hyper 212 cooler.

  • at the end its just about the fins and heat pipes & coolers. 1 water cooling with a 120mm cooler with 100 fins will perform worse than a dual 120mm cooler with 200 fins. even if it is water cooling

  • So, in otherwords, stick with noctua, or you'll BSOD with the corsair.

  • @masterchief3k

He didn`t BSOD because of the temperatures because it has to reach 100c+ to BSOD. He probably did a quick overclock and it passed with the D14 and it BSOD`s with the H70.

  • 3:58 Distance to TJ Max

  • did your computer blue screen off death i though i saw it bsod and it made a wierd noise

  • how about the h100 who would win

  • i was wondering what liquid cooling system i should use? i am using an i7 2600k processor. i was thinking about the H100 but i am thinking about an EK system. I was thinking the H100 might not be reliable because it is a self pump and you don't change the liquid. I don't really care if it makes it more compact.

  • @bullsnake505 EK cooling make junk, read up on their nickal plating issues which are still occuring on there "electroless" nickel plated blocks, everything from acusing their own customers of sabotage to boched science to justify their claims, even then saying the issue was only occuring in Australia and America even when they have german customers failing products the h100 pump is more reliable than the ek kit pumps. also has a warrenty that will not be denied due to their manufacturing errors.

  • @Jolinator lets say the motherboard isn't a problem. how far do you think i could oc a i5 2500k processor with a H100?

  • @Jolinator and how would you suggest I oc a graphics card? (im almost sold on the H100)

  • @bullsnake505 5ghz is no problem with a 2500k on water. custom loop is always better than something like a h100 but ek products are troublesome. gpu cooling can be included in the waterloop if your so inclinded otherwise stock gpu cooling will be sufficent, any changes you make from there will give marginal gains anyway, watercooling a gpu is more for noise reduction. there are people using corsair H series also on there gpus. pm me if you need any more info

  • nh-d not high definition

  • Comment removed

  • there is a problem with your methodology, unfortunately thermal compound like arctic silver 5 requires 200 hours of burn in to reach full thermal transport capacity, your test did not allow for this, i would be interested in seeing this done again with that kept in mind.

  • Put this hardware in the supertower box.

  • id like to see this with the h100

  • semi liquid cooling sucks big time, even Zalman's did better than this...

  • 88c ouch... explains the blue screen

  • Comment removed

  • 4:03 ... "fuck.."

  • @alm0stlegit LOL did it blue screen?

  • im wrong or at 4.01 appears a blue screen of death?mmmmmm too high temps or incorrect timings a/o speed clock?

  • Could of told us about the BSOD Linus, I will never take another review of yours seriously.

  • @CombatSpread Seriously ?

  • Nice making the H70 not giving a decent airflow with mounting the fans close to object. since teh air coolers has free airflow offcourse it wins

  • Windows Blue Screen of Death. :D

  • Is Noctua better than Corsair H100 water cool?

  • @BloodlessSalvation The H100 runs 5'C cooler at medium fan/pump settings and around 7-10'C cooler on max.

This is with 4 fans in a push pull, not the stock 2 fans that comes with the H100.

  • something is bad here, this temp... my thermaltake v1 ax cools my i7 950 at 48 c idle and 80 c max load

  • My Noctua NH-U12P SE2 cools my 1055T (overclocked to 3.64GHz from 2.8) at 15c idle and 30c Max load. :D 3 230mm fans in my case help with that (Rosewill Thor V2)

  • Why is the temperature so high with H70. Mine is max 35 C

  • @Forgotten455 Was wondering the same thing, I use antec 920 and my cpu is at 4.5Ghz constantly and idles at 34, with fan ramps I never go above 40C

  • can I just point out that his use of a bungie cord to attach the rad to the side of that rig is impeding airflow through the radiator set up? That seems like a really obvious thing to me...

  • @Mad5cout Yea that seemed like an obvious thing... the DH14 was standing up straight with unblocked air flow.

  • Smoked? I have seen temps from my i5 2500k and my H60 been better than a NH-D14.
