  • Chills!

  • This is so awesome. Ya'll are right...the military background he has makes it so much more powerful. The best part is that he wasn't showy...he didn't try to hit a bunch of crazy notes to show off his range or his voice...he just sang...and it was truly beautiful.

  • To me, what made this even more touching is knowing he's a marine (or was). Amazing singer and I pulled for him on idol the year he was on....I cried when he got the boot. <3 him! :)

  • he did amazing at the talledega race yesterday when i was there also!

  • This is just AMAZING!! Think it's one of my FAVORITE versions!

  • Oh. My. Gosh. This is now my favorite cover of the National Anthem. Carrie's was my fav til now. Knowing that he's a former Marine gives it even more meaning... IMO, anyways. He has so much control, just absolutely beautiful, Josh! :)

  • I love listening to him. he did a great job. I remember watching this on tv and being sooo excited to hear him sing and be known. watching again. gives me chills.

  • His pitch was right on. Why isn't he as well known? He's way better than Taylor Swift, Miley, Jonas Brother etc. put together.

  • I saw Coasties!!!

  • I love his voice when he sings The National Anthem.

    <3

  • hard to beleive B-52 are going to in service till 2045

  • God bless the USA, best country ever!

  • thats the way it should be sung. by a fellow marine!

  • that was absolutely AMAZING! He did it the way it should be done. Most people that do it throw so much more screaming in it that for me it takes away the meaning. Great job Josh!

  • I LOVE Josh Gracin

  • Josh Gracin does a great job singing the national anthem he's hot .And such have won American Idol season 2 I thought.

  • i agree

  • WOW. That was amazing.. and I'm not even American! Well done Josh!!

  • Amazing!! I could listen to him sing forever, lol

  • got chills

  • same here

I love the U.S.A. Is that what the youtube censors don't like about my comments???

  • simply amazing...

  • OMG! He gives me chills!

  • i like the way he sings it =]

i hate when they add all the ornamentation

  • he sings this with such pride hes a Marine you know

  • josh RULES

  • I still don't understand why he's not more popular. He sounds a lot better than some of the dorks that are big right now.

  • @griffis180 Always loved Josh Gracin. He is so down to earth as well, meet him backstage at a concert here in Florida. Will always be my favorite from Idol.

  • @griffis180 - i totally agree with u

i recently discovered him, and I love his voice! he has an amazing talent and should be recognized more

  • Beautifully done, perfect. Makes me very proud.

  • OORAH!! Once a Marine Always a Marine!! OORAH! Great voice and an all out great guy.

  • ditto..my daddy is a marine i'm 13 butr idk y i said daddy

  • he gave me more pride in the USA

  • Amazing voice I just love him!♥

  • SOrry Folks...But once a Marine...Always a Marine..

    SEMPER FI!

  • Greg won this race!!! HAHA BITCHES!!!

  • Sassymissmeghan is right..

I wish people would get their facts right before they say stupid shit. He watched the news nightly and stayed up all hours to see what was going on with marines (from other batallions) and other armed forces overseas. Got it, spprtourtroops?..

  • no. he did not "get out of the Marine Corps to do American Idol." his battalion was not selected for deployment at the time of american idol, so he was allowed to do it. he then DID NOT go on tour with American Idol BECAUSE he had his duties to fulfill as a Marine. He was HONORABLY DISCHARGED after his full four years of service were up, and then he began his singing career. he is not a "former marine" or "ex marine". once a Marine, always a Marine.

  • I love him

  • Not to be an azzwipe, but in case you don't this: it's an American tradition, you never refer to an "ex-Marine" or a "former Marine". They go the extra yard, so we go with "once a Marine, always a Marine." Josh is now, and will always be, a Marine. And since he managed to hit that frigging high note on "the la-hand of the freeeeee", he's a Marine that can sing!

  • OOHRAH

    SEMPER FI BROTHER

  • i agree, but to b exact, they r called "prior service marines" sorry, im kinda a nazi about that...

  • ask ANY marine what they're called after the corps. There is a reason they say Semper Fidelis. Always Faithful

  • amen

  • Wouldn't it be funniy if the Mexican National anthem was played at A NASCAR RACE? I bet a riot would ensue.

  • does the one they sing at the Mexico race count?

  • as opposed to yesterday's national anthem or maybe tomorrow's perhaps? just a little attention to detail mr. announcer guy. by the way, he was a former Marine. that should have been mentioned too.

  • my mom was a marine. its not former marine, its prior service marine.

  • how come he "was" a marine? did he quit? got me goosebumps by the way

  • He got out of The Marine Corps to do American Idol, He is now a Former Maine

  • Well maybe not got out then, but was allowed to leave

  • They forgot to mention that he was a marine, too. That makes him a better candidate than any other for singing the national anthem! >_<

  • luved it!! Awesome!

  • h's so tallented!

  • thank you for posting
