  • Whereabouts in Wiltshire was this?

  • you have some great videos! Hope you like and subscribe to mine.

  • This is 92 key in that it uses 92 keys. Very few 98 key organs use anything like all 98. None, as far as I know.

  • Huh, This aint a military band organ, it was owned by Anderton and rowlands.

    Still a good video tho

    Thanks 4 postin.

  • Virtually all band organs *are* Military Band Organs. They all exist (with the exception of smaller organs without percussion) to emulate the sounds of a Military band.

That's why they have drums and glockenspiels, in addition to pipes.

  • @AxisHome1 Get your facts right. It is indeed a MILITARY BAND organ and is still owned by the DeVey family (Anderton & Rowland)

  • this is a 98 key organ is it not?

it says 92 key but i am sure its 98?

  • thanku i thought it was

  • Joan sorry my brain is going! it is a 92 key its listed correct

  • @GAVIOLITOM Sorry mate, you are very wrong, it is most certainly only a 92key, fact

  • joansmitho7 it is the 98 key

  • its about time this organ toured a bit further a field an all!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of the finest organs in the world!!

  • What a pleasure to hear such a fabulous fair organ! This tonal nature of this organ epitomises the fact that most all contemporary builders of new organs are just pretenders to the throne. I can't name one new or reconstructed fair organ that matches the voicing and balance found in this organ.

  • I would have to agree with you on present day builders. Just curious, do you mean all builders or just of a particular continent?

  • I will apply it to all builders of new fair organs. I am yet to be as impressed with their work as I am with beautifully restored instruments.

  • The tune playing on this video is called "Life begins at Oxford Circus" an arrangement or "marking", to use the correct term, by the incomparable Louis Blache who for nearly 40 years was the chief arranger ("marker") at the London organ builders Chiappa Ltd. Every arrangement of his is a gem!

  • Anyone wishing to hear the the A&R "Grand Organ" in concert mode, it will be giving a programmed concert on Saturday 1st September at the Great Dorset Steam Fair starting at 8 o'clock. A CD of the organ is also now available.

  • Play on...

  • I second that Jory, this organ has something that most other organs dont...Playability

  • This organ is really beautiful. Hodded trumpets with spun brass bells - reall exquisit. Nice sound - a really healthy voice. Too bad people cannot recreate things like this. It would be so easy to copy them and repopulate the dying species before the go extinct. Organ builders can do it no reason for a lack of ability to build new ones like this.

  • They can recrate organs like this though today. Have you never seen Noyce's 98 key replica Marenghi??

  • This is without doubt the finest surviving original fairground organ in the United Kingdom. Like the "Flying Scotsman" and the SS Great Britain, it is part of our National Heritage.

  • Quite much wonderful. It has an incredible sound - I love the deep horns and glockenspiel!

  • I really love this organ and the trumpets are fantastic, my auntie and uncle travelled this organ for Anderton & Rowlands for 25 years.
