I wached this launch live on CBS when I was 11 years old. I liked the cool live inside footage of the astronauts during launch I saw many live apollo launches on TV since Apollo 11. lots of fond memories.
PAOs are Chuck Hollinshead at Cape Canaveral and Doug Ward in Houston, Capcom is Dick Truly. Why do we hear the Capcom in launch control counting down over the PAO? That doesn't 't seem to be heard in other Apollo launches. Was this the feed that was seen by Mission Control in Houston on their famous big screen?
It was great to see this again. I was there in the observation stands as the launch took place. A truly historic bit of progress technically and a step forward in International relations during the Cold War.
Too bad you can't see Deke in the cabin!! I knew the CSM was a tight fit, but Stafford has his right arm tucked under Brand's while Brand is throwing switches...
6:14 the tower jettison yanks off the Boost Protective Cover and you can see out the side windows. I just love that for some reason! Interesting there is no static when this happens though there is in other videos.
@DumbYankies If you've seen the CBS feed of the Skylab 4 launch (which was on a very clear day) the tracking camera captures a very rare outside shot of tower jett!
Glad for Deke!

Those windows look huge. Must be a issue with contrast on the camera.
