That's cos Lebanese ppl in Australia & the US are really different. In the 60's-70's, if you wanted to get into Canada or USA, you had to have a pretty good reason to. Most likely, you had to be a student. So yeah, alot of Lebanese students immigrated to the US & Canada, and most of them are successful here (I'm lebanese so I know) But the Lebs that immigrated to Aus. had no education, nothing. Getting into Australia was like trying to get into a Wal-Mart. Easy as hell.

Australia is a difficult country to migrate to and its a great place to live, I lived in the US for a decade and moved here. I love it. I knew another American who tried to migrate here and was unable to even though he was a doctor and skilled.
The Lebanese in Australia took advantage of Keating's good will towards refugees. The other Lebanese can come into Australia mostly because of family ties to people already here.
Oh I have both US and Aussie passports.
