Care for the recruit, his family, his trainesr and their families, his trainers superiors and their families, their superiors. The administration guys makeing all the paper work flow, their families. The logistice guys, etc, etc, etc. Care is an education sytem, medical, food, housing, ect,ect. 1 seal >1 copter

I have a good friend who is a SEAL. While I do not not know if he was involved in this epic raid, I still have the upmost respect and envy of my friend. Navy SEALs are the creme of the crop. I do not understand the dismay and discontent of our fellow soldiers. They should be, but will not be rewarded for this onslaught on terrorism. I'm sure what you say is true, and thank you for your input. I was just trying to put things into perspective, because I do get the impression that some people think these people walk on water! It is important to remember that they are not Gods, just very highly trained soldiers.
Personally I have the highest regard for all special forces personnel regardless of nationality, because it is clear that they are the best of the best. But I take your point.

The SAS is the best elite squad. ( but full credit to the seals)

Let's face it, nobody knows whether that statement is true or not. Assessments about which is best are inevitably a function of where you live. These guys are amazing, but they're not supermen either, and they make mistakes just like everybody else - witness the Bravo Two Zero fiasco. I haven't the faintest idea which is the more skilled or trained, and it really doesn't matter, just as long as they're both on MY side!

What a conondrum: on one hand, you have to be a highly intelligent person to be a successful SEAL team member, but, on the other hand, most intelligent people wouldn't voluntarily raise the probability of themselves being killed or severly injured.

@haeresy Equipment, even copters, are worth less than the trained individual. Special Team 6 guys. Just from a purely mathmatical perspective. Start with Basic training. Care for the recruit, his family, his trainesr and their families, his trainers superiors and their families, their superiors. The administration guys makeing all the paper work flow, their families. The logistice guys, etc, etc, etc. Care is an education sytem, medical, food, housing, ect,ect. 1 seal >1 copter

@haeresy If that didn't happen, it would have been text book perfect, but it wasn't, which is why she said "nearly". For something this big, a " secret stealth helicopter " isn't worth much. The U.S would've declared it a success had they lost 10 helicopters. Other then the heli, the mission went flawlessly.

I have a good friend who is a SEAL. While I do not not know if he was involved in this epic raid, I still have the upmost respect and envy of my friend. Navy SEALs are the creme of the crop. I do not understand the dismay and discontent of our fellow soldiers. They should be, but will not be rewarded for this onslaught on terrorism. These soldiers do there job with you and me on their mind. SEALs should be proud of themselve for a job well done. I hope one day Americans will accept you.

Seals live to do what they do. Most well trained and physically fit people in our forces. ..as are other other specialty branches of our military. The drop out rate on Seal training is what 90 percent.? They live to be physcially fit and train to do special ops at a moments notice. It boggles my mind. You wanna run 15 miles and then swim 5? Give it a try. You will see how tough you are mentally. Don't bother putting a weapon in your hand and facing death.
