Sure, I have been en pointe for quite a while now. I am doing RAD vocational syllabus which requires pointe work anyway. But it depends on your legs, feet, strenght too. Just ask the teacher if you have physical potential, take many classes as you can afford and you will get stronger real quick(and get en pointe real quick too). I go to open adult classes too and I am pretty much the youngest (most are late 20-40) and they are en pointe!
Thanks so much!!!! I could NOT even do q1 turn before I watched this. Now I can only do 1 but its better than none!! If you have a book (a4) and it slides on your carpet, this also helps. Thats how I got mine, from this video and my auntie was a ballerina.
I do hiphop class once a week at a non competetive studio, but I like to make up lyrical hiphop routines at home for fun and excersize, so I need to learn a little ballet, and this helped me a lot :)
I have problems with spotting. I don't know what it is, I keep practicing but I just can't seem to turn my head to the beat of a turn that is more then one.
very good triple though her hips aren't even in fourth and when she ends her arms go too far back and just snaps them back without control. otherwise very good.
I'm 12 and i'm Grade 3, do i have any chance of becoming a professional ballet dancer? I used to do some dancing when i was 4 till i was 6 but then i stopped and started again now i am 12. I don't have any exceptional talent but i am quite good. please reply!
@InLostWonderland I feel that way too! I did ballet until i was 6 then i stopped. I started again when i was 10 and am on pointe now! Most people disregard me because of my age but ballet is the most important thing in my life!
@piyarudee Really? Are you or will you be able to go on pointe? I thought that if you didn't go on pointe when your younger you never could. I want to learn ballet so bad. I really want to go en pointe, but i though 'why bother' because i'm too old! (twentys) and won't be able to :)

Oh my god, this is the worst instructional video ever, it's not just front leg bent, back leg straight, pleea, SPIN!!! It's much harder and this didn't help at all
couple things. 1: people who keep saying "i can't do a pirouette" or "i can't do a double pirouette", the only reason you can,t is because you are telling yourself that you can't! My dance teacher told me that it's all mental and its true! I used to say "I can't do double pirouettes." she said to tell myself that i can and keep practicing and to not be negative! GUESS WUT?! I can do doubles now!!! 2: she's using her arms to help her turn! yur not supposed to do that! she guna get hurt! justsayin
@starfygirl Your arms are supposed to be your guide along with your head. Of course for each dancer a pirouette is done and perfected differently, but arms should always be an aid. Also for those who can't do a good pirouette it might be because they are not engaging core muscles and turnout properly.
@lineduse you're out of luck then. Most dance teachers are male in the studios. Its not like they're pedifiles or anything, they're just there to guide you through dancing. Some women dancers touch the girls on set, so don't rule out the guys. Besides, he's cute, why not take a class from him ;)
@DehManesBllt Ok, ok, I'm still going to school, maybe I'm not so good like you, but I mean, we learned to do pirouette the same way at the beggining, it is just the easyest way. And in Germany we learn to play ballet different than you in Russia.

@Deawesome15 i think you are talking about an a la seconde which is where you keep one leg exteded throughout turning, this turn is for traditionally for men. the female version is a fouette, which is where you whip your leg out to the side as you turn.

@Lauriefishbone almost everyone has a more comfortable side to turn to, for me it is my left. in order to even it out you need to practice to the less comfortable side even more. it will never feel quite as natural as your good side, however it can LOOK just as good if not better with time and practice!!!!

I had my first Ballet lessons when I was 4 and kept practicing until I was ten. Then I quitted because we moved and didn't want to keep up with it in the new town, I just did Modern Dance. Now I'm 17 and I miss Ballet soo much - I even had many dreams about dancing again :D But I always felt to old ... it's so nice to read that some people just started when they were 16!
@itsnoushig it's okay i'm 16 and i just started! stretch 2 hours a day trust me it helps!! & with these turns, i can only do one :/ after 4 years of regular dancing...eeeeeeeeek!
@simonlolita i dont do nearly close to 2 hours. that explains a lot xD i'm 14 and just started really getting interested in ballet at home (i can't afford to join a studio) & i've always been into dancing. i have planters fasciitis (swelling & irritation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot) so pointe & pirouettes can be painful. then i read this comment and i was like oh...2 hours...well that's why it hurts so much. xD thanks hahah.
@SuperHungryhippo123 You're not. My auntie was 16 when she started ballet, and now she does a lot of work in ballet. She has been in a lot of shows. You're not to old, don't worry :)
@lilmiznatt I started ballet with 14 and now I´m a professional dancer ;). I know many dancers which started with 16 and many of them are better than the ones which started with 9.
Fantastic teacher!!!! Very simple, with all confusing vocabulary explained, which is very helpful for us beginners!!! I learned a lot from this video, and methods are inspiring. Thank you very much!!!
@lolabling3 no of course not; you'll find that many people take up ballet even when they're adults! you may be too old to do ballet professionally, but not for fun. i'm 14 and am going to start ballet next fall (:
@lolabling3 No it's definitely not too late...even if you want to dance professionally...of course you will have to work hard to catch up to other girls that have been dancing all their life, but if you really have a passion for ballet, all you need is determination and training
@smtonlinevideos really im 20 yrs old and used to do ballet when i was younger but i miss it and want to do contemprary dance i live in NYC any suggestions to get started

@lolabling3 no of course not; you'll find that many people take up ballet even when they're adults! you may be too old to do ballet professionally, but not for fun. i'm 14 and am going to start ballet next fall (:
flightlessbird14 9 months ago
@lolabling3 yes,its too late by now,you would be on pointe, which takes ears of training, but try contemerary, its very close to ballet
ohnoyoudidnt35 9 months ago
@lolabling3 No it's definitely not too late...even if you want to dance professionally...of course you will have to work hard to catch up to other girls that have been dancing all their life, but if you really have a passion for ballet, all you need is determination and training
