  • 0:07 look at the girl in the background

  • Sure, I have been en pointe for quite a while now. I am doing RAD vocational syllabus which requires pointe work anyway. But it depends on your legs, feet, strenght too. Just ask the teacher if you have physical potential, take many classes as you can afford and you will get stronger real quick(and get en pointe real quick too). I go to open adult classes too and I am pretty much the youngest (most are late 20-40) and they are en pointe!

  • the dancer in this video has the most amazing curved back! :)

  • Where can you get a hold of one of those rocking chair-bottoms? I really need to improve my balance, I can barely do one without tipping over:P

  • ballet dancers are so flexible!...

  • Meh, not a terrible video, but he just scratched the surface of all the things you need to focus on when doing pirouettes.

Also I get annoyed when people (wrongly) use passe as synonym for retire.

  • Thanks so much!!!! I could NOT even do q1 turn before I watched this. Now I can only do 1 but its better than none!! If you have a book (a4) and it slides on your carpet, this also helps. Thats how I got mine, from this video and my auntie was a ballerina.

  • nice teacher ;)

  • Thank you!!! That really helps me :)

  • this cideos crap

  • im going to learn this just to add it to my shuffling>_<

  • Where did you get the rocking chair bottom? Would that be a good way to train figure skaters in doing turns off ice?

  • I do hiphop class once a week at a non competetive studio, but I like to make up lyrical hiphop routines at home for fun and excersize, so I need to learn a little ballet, and this helped me a lot :)

  • I have problems with spotting. I don't know what it is, I keep practicing but I just can't seem to turn my head to the beat of a turn that is more then one.

  • well....if she held her arms and core strongly and turned out more in her preparation, then she could do 4 or 5 turns.....just saying

  • Perfect, just so Perfect! There is no way, even if I did ballet my whole life that I could do that! Great Job Rose!!!

  • very good triple though her hips aren't even in fourth and when she ends her arms go too far back and just snaps them back without control. otherwise very good.

  • baryshnikov looking steamy in the background lol

  • do we need our legs popped? I hope not D:

  • Are you supposed to make your hands overlap? Some have told me to just put your fingers touching or close to touching.

  • I'm 12 and i'm Grade 3, do i have any chance of becoming a professional ballet dancer? I used to do some dancing when i was 4 till i was 6 but then i stopped and started again now i am 12. I don't have any exceptional talent but i am quite good. please reply!

  • @InLostWonderland I feel that way too! I did ballet until i was 6 then i stopped. I started again when i was 10 and am on pointe now! Most people disregard me because of my age but ballet is the most important thing in my life!

  • I started when i was 24. It is never too late

  • @piyarudee Really? Are you or will you be able to go on pointe? I thought that if you didn't go on pointe when your younger you never could. I want to learn ballet so bad. I really want to go en pointe, but i though 'why bother' because i'm too old! (twentys) and won't be able to :)

  • @HighAsHelium I used to think the same way but finally I started ballet 1 month ago and I just love it :D (I'm 19) If you really have the pasion you will enjoy it anyway. I try to practice also at home and maybe some day I will be ready for pointe... who knows.. Go for it :) you will never regret.

  • @piyarudee I'm 97! :(

  • is there any hop for 18 years old girl how loooove ballet dance to learn it ?

she never dance ballet dance but she want to learn it so bad and i think it is too late for her !

  • @Buthinah11 i meant in her home because she dos‘t have a ballet dance class in her country

  • @Buthinah11

    It's never too late ;)

  • Oh my god, this is the worst instructional video ever, it's not just front leg bent, back leg straight, pleea, SPIN!!! It's much harder and this didn't help at all

  • it's very difficult for me to make a pirouette and I 'd like you to help me

  • now to find a smooth floor.....

  • couple things. 1: people who keep saying "i can't do a pirouette" or "i can't do a double pirouette", the only reason you can,t is because you are telling yourself that you can't! My dance teacher told me that it's all mental and its true! I used to say "I can't do double pirouettes." she said to tell myself that i can and keep practicing and to not be negative! GUESS WUT?! I can do doubles now!!! 2: she's using her arms to help her turn! yur not supposed to do that! she guna get hurt! justsayin

  • @starfygirl Your arms are supposed to be your guide along with your head. Of course for each dancer a pirouette is done and perfected differently, but arms should always be an aid. Also for those who can't do a good pirouette it might be because they are not engaging core muscles and turnout properly.

  • ok...sour this is a great piroiette!!! my pirouette is bad... I hope to do well pirouettes the next year!!!

  • I'm so bad at pirouettes! I can't even do a double, and my single pirouette is a little sloppy. Hopefully this will help a little. :)

  • nao enetndi nadaaa tah td ingles

  • 2:06 .... her leg looks fucked !!

  • I wish I had a teacher who looked like that :D

  • @alina2702 If we did, then all we would learn is what a real man looks like haha.

  • Baryshnikov <3

  • I liked the part where rose spun.

  • Thank you very much for sharing. Need to learn how to do it for troupe.

  • i wouldnt trust a guy as my ballet teacher

    :C

  • @lineduse you're out of luck then. Most dance teachers are male in the studios. Its not like they're pedifiles or anything, they're just there to guide you through dancing. Some women dancers touch the girls on set, so don't rule out the guys. Besides, he's cute, why not take a class from him ;)

  • is it diffrent if your a boy

  • I so have to marry a ballerina

  • Poor Baryshnikov to have to see this... This is not a pirouette...

  • @DehManesBllt it is. I am a proffesional ballerina, and trust me, it is. This is the easiest way to do it.

  • @belmorra24 I'm a professional too. I'm graduated at Bolshoi School, I know what i'm talking about and this is how NOT to do a pirouette.

  • @DehManesBllt Ok, ok, I'm still going to school, maybe I'm not so good like you, but I mean, we learned to do pirouette the same way at the beggining, it is just the easyest way. And in Germany we learn to play ballet different than you in Russia.

  • shes magnificent!

  • Was he talking?

  • Perform pirouettes under a portrait of Baryshnikov - very symbolic))

  • Damn it wass up!

I wanna learn ballet from him!!!!

  • whahahaha how to look good in a phot in the suggestions. like WTF there's a old japanese man in a sort of karate outfit learning you to look good in a photo ;p

  • asi no se hace una pirouette

  • @paranoidscrm jajaj!!!!!

  • @CrazierFirefly well I go to the best ballet school in Georgia and I'm only ten so I have not learned to do them in fourth position yet so mind your on bisnuess

  • I can't even pirouette as this. :|

  • why is how to teach a dog to roll over in the suggestions???

  • Interesting!

  • ballet is absolutely beautiful.

  • how can you pirouette without a pointe shoe?

  • @flylikeacg wtf pirouette is soo hard on pointe! do you do ballet?

  • @flylikeacg you shouldn't be learning pirouettes only when you've got your pointe shoes. it should be learned BEFORE pointe on soft ballet shoes. if they tried teaching a pirouette to a student for the first time on pionte shoes they could break their ankle.

  • @flylikeacg in fifth :) go on youtube and type grade 5 RAD pirouettes :) .. you must first learn to do a pirouette in fifth and then you do it en pointe

  • I want her arches.

  • You are supposed to go to second position not fourth position

  • @2201chloe Evidently, you haven't been taught ballet very well, or haven't taken many lessons. You can turn out of second or fourth...

  • @CrazierFirefly Or fifth, as they do in the evil RAD Grade 5 exercise.

  • @2201chloe acctually your meant to go to second, they you piroutte off fourth position, sorry just saying :)

  • @MegaLittleBallerina Not necessarily...

  • very helpful.... I really like the thought of using the wood for balance.

  • why is how to make an origami cat in the suggestions?

  • @samyluvz13 i aked my self the same question ....... :)

  • @samyluvz13 hahahahahahahah SOOO TRUEEE! :D

  • @samyluvz13 It's the same user that has uploaded that video :)

  • @samyluvz13 About made it

  • @samyluvz13 hahahaha wtff i just saw that too xD

  • @samyluvz13 same channel

  • Ooh just look at his hands!

  • I'm on working on 4 fouettes (srry if i spelled that wrong) and 3 pirouettes. I'm 12 so I guess that's ok :)

  • @nerdypancakes Youre so right!!!

  • The only thing I keep looking at is the photo of Baryshnikov behind this dude

  • THe girls leg needs more turnout from the hip and the turns and balances would be a lot better

  • anyone else think he looks like russian james franco?

  • i tried this at home, what i fail it was ,hahaha

  • wait... what? i was too busy staring at the photo

  • Hellllllllo Luis. :D Donde estas?!

  • it looks so simple!

  • @Giseasworld well it is not!

  • @EliseP100 yes I know :(

  • @EliseP100 I obviously know it's not!

  • eeeeeeeeeee

  • mugre loca

  • k lindo me gusto mucho gracias=)

  • I love ballet and this video helped a lot!

  • dirty!!!

  • That was good and a good explanation

  • That was really good and a good explanation

  • pretty good explanation. well done

  • how is she so good at it? i keep practicing and practicing but i can't even do a double :(

  • The picture behind him is of Mikhail Baryshnikov.

  • @balletteacher621 I thought that some people were just joking about not know who was in the photo!!!

  • AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL.

  • Smiles, yes he is a bit distracting as is the gentlemen in the background photo - where my eyes would choose to spot, if I could spot. It is my dream to be known as the only dancer to do perfect pirouettes without spotting!!! Love the foot thing that he has her spinning on. I love the foot rocker!!! The dancer is lovely as were her pirouettes! She has so many more then three in her... Most inspiring young lady, almost makes me believe it is possible to learn to spot!

  • @chachigo11 Why do you want to be able to turn without spotting? I'm interested to know. I have neck problems, so I turn without spotting. (I can only do a single pirouette.)

  • omg! the teacher is so hot!!!!!!

  • Ohh, he is charming. I couldn't focus on the video.

  • how did they get about withoiut using numbers (their username)

  • @loveisabel19iscool older accounts don't have to.

  • @loveisabel19iscool You don't need to use numbers in your username, just your password. Unless you mean how About wasn't already taken. Probably since they're a well known and useful website they can pull some strings.

  • Do you think that portrait behind him is a painting of himself?

maybe it was a little exagurated...

  • perfection. omggg.

  • her body is absolutely gorgeous. as is her technique :)

  • If you really want to do something, like dance, you should just do it. It's better to know you've at least tried then to regret never trying for the rest of your life.

  • It's true, you're never too old!! I used to think the exact same thing, I took dance for a year when I was 7, then we moved, I'm 16 about to turn 17 and started to take dance because I wanted to dance so bad, I HAD to try, and I'm so glad I did, I'm helping teach dance classes now. :)

  • What Kind Of Floor Should I Do It On ??????????

  • What is it called when they have their leg extended while doing that? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  • @Deawesome15 i think you are talking about an a la seconde which is where you keep one leg exteded throughout turning, this turn is for traditionally for men. the female version is a fouette, which is where you whip your leg out to the side as you turn.

  • Hey thanks for the tips on how to turn a proper pirouette. I am a dancer myself, but i can't turn for nuts. THANKS! :)

  • it's fouettes .. sorry :)

  • What do you call the move that your spin but then you put your leg out to keep on spinning???

  • @WaveandP i think you mean fouttes, but you don't do them TO KEEP ON SPINNING. it actually makes it harder.

  • it's called FUETE :))

  • Nice Ass xP

  • MUITO OBRIGADA!!! eu estava pensando hoje como se faz isso, porque faço ballet a 4 meses e minha professora ainda não ensinou, OBRIGADAA!!!!!!!!! beijos do Brasil!!!

  • Been dancing for 11 years goin on 12 and I can do 3 but my spotting gets a little bad sometimes. I have always had a problem with spotting but it has gotten better over the years my dace teacher said

  • she is an amazing ballerina!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i coudn't do 3, i do 1 and a half, then i go to a arabesque :/

  • @linnababbyepix I do that too:/ It's hard to stay in body allignment when you're even doing a double

  • I can do 2 when I turn with my right leg. But with my left I can do barely 1. What should I do?

  • @Lauriefishbone almost everyone has a more comfortable side to turn to, for me it is my left. in order to even it out you need to practice to the less comfortable side even more. it will never feel quite as natural as your good side, however it can LOOK just as good if not better with time and practice!!!!

  • man. i was hoping she would be on pointe i need help i need to see a video!!!!

  • very interesting !

  • not to offend anyone, but he looks like a pervert.. Ayee juss sayin'

  • I live in kentucky and not far from Lex, WHERE THE BANANAS was this school when I was sreaching for a studio!

  • I've been dancing for 9 years and the maximum number of turns I can do is 2 and I am not very stable sometimes. :( The dancer in this video is awesome.

  • @ilovejungsoo awwww well practice makes perfect!

  • haha love the baryshnikov photo

  • I did gymnastics and they showed the positions and stuff to teach us how to turn better i SOO want to learn to turn like that >:O LOOKS SO FREAKIN COOL

  • oh my goodness...tht chick is amazingg!! two thumbs up! (y) (y)

  • to get rid of ads press F5. Thumbs up and spread the word!!!!!

  • I had my first Ballet lessons when I was 4 and kept practicing until I was ten. Then I quitted because we moved and didn't want to keep up with it in the new town, I just did Modern Dance. Now I'm 17 and I miss Ballet soo much - I even had many dreams about dancing again :D But I always felt to old ... it's so nice to read that some people just started when they were 16!

  • I'm fifteen and only started ballet 4 months ago and already had my first show...you're never too old to start :)

  • You guys are 16 at least! Im 17 and im interested in ballet. :/ eekk

  • @itsnoushig it isnt too late too start :)

  • @itsnoushig it's okay i'm 16 and i just started! stretch 2 hours a day trust me it helps!! & with these turns, i can only do one :/ after 4 years of regular dancing...eeeeeeeeek!

  • @simonlolita i dont do nearly close to 2 hours. that explains a lot xD i'm 14 and just started really getting interested in ballet at home (i can't afford to join a studio) & i've always been into dancing. i have planters fasciitis (swelling & irritation of the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot) so pointe & pirouettes can be painful. then i read this comment and i was like oh...2 hours...well that's why it hurts so much. xD thanks hahah.

  • I was more intrested in the ape advertisment.

  • ... He's hot ;)

  • omg i've danced for ages and i can't do triple pirouettes. she's sooo awesome

  • im 16 and would love to start ballet i think im too old thou :/

  • @SuperHungryhippo123 i know what you mean, me too. i dont think were too old(:

  • @SuperHungryhippo123 You're not. My auntie was 16 when she started ballet, and now she does a lot of work in ballet. She has been in a lot of shows. You're not to old, don't worry :)

  • @RhythmicGymGirly Really 16? Cool, that just made my life very perfect

  • @SuperHungryhippo123 no ones to old to start

  • @SuperHungryhippo123 Haha same here, I'm 16 and too embaressed to start now...

  • @lilmiznatt I started ballet with 14 and now I´m a professional dancer ;). I know many dancers which started with 16 and many of them are better than the ones which started with 9.

  • I envy that guy!!!

  • is so good

  • Fantastic teacher!!!! Very simple, with all confusing vocabulary explained, which is very helpful for us beginners!!! I learned a lot from this video, and methods are inspiring. Thank you very much!!!

  • ok,i know some 11 yera olds who can do triple and how do they make it look like they turn slow,or is it just that you feel like you are turning fast?

  • I want to take up ballet but I'm 13 my mum and dad keep saying I'm to old to start now ... What do you think?? x

    Lola x

  • @lolabling3 no of course not; you'll find that many people take up ballet even when they're adults! you may be too old to do ballet professionally, but not for fun. i'm 14 and am going to start ballet next fall (:

  • @lolabling3 yes,its too late by now,you would be on pointe, which takes ears of training, but try contemerary, its very close to ballet

  • @lolabling3 No it's definitely not too late...even if you want to dance professionally...of course you will have to work hard to catch up to other girls that have been dancing all their life, but if you really have a passion for ballet, all you need is determination and training

  • @lolabling3 i know professional dancers here in NYC that didn't start until their late teens/early 20s. GO FOR IT!

  • @smtonlinevideos really im 20 yrs old and used to do ballet when i was younger but i miss it and want to do contemprary dance i live in NYC any suggestions to get started

  • @xTheBlackCanaryx Alvin Ailey dance school. Google it. They're amazing!

  • @smtonlinevideos i've heard of them. i didn't know that people who weren't students were able to take classes there. Their courses look good, Thanks =D
