You get out what you put in Billysue2... 17 years is a long time to stay in one style and not look around. I loved TKD but i realised its limitations and simultaneously trained Muay Thai. Instructors get a little paranoid about students cross training...but i don't know a DECENT martial artist who hasn't. I do ITF and I use my instep...
Using the ball of my foot bends my toes back and it hurts like hell.
So I use my shin and instep.

Actually Neither ITF or WTF can be considered "Real" TKD Since it's been Mishaped throughout the years.
I consider grand master Shung oh's Schools "Real" Tkd.
Considering he was One of general lee choy's best students and Founded it to canada.
Although there is a slight combination of WTF and ITF.
And I've seen alot of TKD schools tip off alot of Ki bon patters as well.
