I personally would rather see them make an anime after the manga series is over, that way for long time fans ( like me) we can enjoy the manga and look forward to the anime at the same time. But I hope the series lasts as long as Naruto or Dragon Ball, because it deserves to last twice as long as those mangas.

I see why Azuma wouldn't want a Yotsuba anime because of the times of day being so apart like one second they are at the mall and two pictures later they're at home but it could be like Lucky star and have a couple of pics to transition it. Also they could have a title card to solve the problems with the different pictures.

Well Azumanga Diaoh got an anime. Same people made Yotsuba, there are even little easter eggs in Yotsuba from Azumanga. So why not make an anime? I'd throughly enjoy it.

It seemed a bit unrealistic that Yotsuba would bump into the wall that quickly, but this short clip was very well animated. Near the beginning some white space shows at the margin when the camera pans around quickly, but that’s just a minor problem.

Apparently, Azuma-sendei said, that he won't agree to turn this series into anime, because it's not suited to become one. I don't get it, because Azumanga was successfully animated and IMHO that was harder to achieve because of Azumanga's type (4-koma), while Yotsuba& is regular manga.

It's his work, and I think you should respect it. Though I agree with you, if he lets a good studio make it an anime. There have been a lot of cases that manga just gets ruined because the atmosphere isn't right in the anime.

Don't think when it moves, it's good enough, the animation should really support the story. If it's not well done, there's no point in making an animation.

I discovered Yotsuba&! in my local bookstore and loved it. I disappointed me to find out that it doesn't have an anime version. I really hope that it will come out with it soon. It would be amazing!!!!!

@highbleachattitude12 Kiyohiko Azuma has said that manga is manga and not something that you make only because you want it to be animated and the reason that a Yotsuba&! anime has not been attempted so far is the difficulty of adapting its idiosyncratic storytelling. He noted one scene in which Yotsuba is visiting the Ayase family to play. She walks in the door and says, "Hello!". He used several panels of nothing happening to represent time passing, and then the scene just ends.

In order for it to become an anime, Kiyohiko Azuma has to be willing to let it become an anime. Based on his comments that he thinks Yotsuba&!'s jokes "wouldn't translate well into anime," I think he isn't willing to sign the rights to any particular company at this present time.

Mangas like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece were never ever "simple". Another reason why Azuma won't make it is because the chapters are in consecutive days, and that doesn't translate well into anime. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this as an anime, but I totally agree that it would be hard for certain people to get, unless you are a hardcore fan like I am. And most hardcore fans might be angry with the voices picked out, because that happens with all manga->anime
