It's kind of funny, Silent Hill was the one I liked the least of the first 4 Silent Hills (Though I like it far better then any of the other Silent Hills, not saying the game's bad I still find myself going back to replay SH4 every now and gain), but I will say that it probably has the most terrifying trailer of any silent hill game. o_o

I think SH4 was supposed to be the game that ended Silent Hill. Not like it being a bad game, because it's not, but since that was Team Silent's last SH game, and because it didn't take place in Silent Hill, it was just the spread of the epidemic that caused it to be Silent Hill type, which in the end makes you think. Either way, I'm glad they're still making Silent Hills, unfortunately not any original-like ones.
Even though Silent Hill 4 technically isnt a silent hill game its still a great game. I thought it was incredibly scary and I love games where you find a locked door at the beginning and cant open it till around the end. Like when you finally unlocked the chains on your door you knew shit was going down. Just like in Resident Evil 1 when you go behind the stairs and find the locked gate and hear Lisa Trevor yell. You dont unlock that till WAY later in the game
The real problem with this game is that it wasn't intended to be a Silent Hill game. They later just slapped the title of Silent Hill on it and jammed in some references. I don't think that makes it a bad game, but it is a bit of an odd fit for the rest of the series because it was more or less forced into the Silent Hill mythology. There's nothing wrong with it as a game, but I think maybe a remake could smooth things out a bit and help it fit a little easier with the previous three.

They should remake this game for the PS3. Obviously with far better graphics and the same sound track. They should make it more cinematic and extend each level by adding entire new areas. The should make the game more interactive like downpour and take away all the stupid pointless missions you had to do when you returned to each world. Imagine That.

The japanese version are WAAAAY Better than the American ones. I mean, SH Homecoming was great, but it dont have the same atmosphere than This one or other Silent Hill games.
@Sylinic The Japanese versions use a Psicollogycal terror, based in sounds, music, atmosphere, ambiance, scenario, etc etc. The American versions dont do a bad job at all, but the way that they use to scare us is more like Pop-up monsters. Also, focusing in the Battle system instead of the complex puzzles (Like Sh3 or 2) decreases the "depression" factor. Well, thats my thinking and sorry my English. Peace ;)

For one, there is WAY too much backtracking to the point of it becoming rather shameless. For another, while all Silent Hill games were linear, they all had a sense of exploration about them, urging you to look around alot, while this game kinda points you in a certain direction, and has you keep going.

What is silent hill? Is it an different reality or in the heads of everyone who has ever experienced it? I dont believe its real i believe you must traverse it to find peace with yourself but it is not part of this earthly world.
I bought this game when I first bought my old PS2. I liked the looks of it from the cover, but had NO idea what I was in for at all. I love survival horror games & this one takes the cake. When I first saw the trailer before the game started, though...I was just stunned. I just remember thinking - Holy shit. I have to play THAT?!

From SH1 to SH4, I prefer SH4 as the scariest 'cause you got chased by real ghosts, unlike the others you're only facing imaginary monsters. I don't know, but I think I'm the only one fan who thinks this way.

I hear ya, man. People focus too much on the radical gameplay change of this one, but I absolutely love it, the graphics, cutscenes, story, everything. It may be the weakest, but that doesn't mean it's weak, know what I mean?
i also love this game, to me i think this game is really innovative. the only thing that found that sucks about this game is that you only hold up the ten items at a time, but that's about the only thing that i found that sucked
To me, the most annoying thing in any video game is just that, an inventory limit. Why can't the characters always have a portable hole handy, where they can store their tv's or their great knives or their huge spears without any hassle? Like in most Final Fantasy games. :P
This is quite possibly the most disturbing, eerie trailer I've ever seen to date. Unfortunately, this fourth Silent Hill part was not a fraction as harrowing, frightening as this trailer. It was actually the weakest of the franchise according to many fans.
On a side note, KONAMI did not have to emulate the Resident Evil series with Homecoming. But the character movement in Silent Hill must be more fluid, less stiff. Hopefully SH6 returns the series to greatness like the first three parts.
Guess the newest Silent Hill on the Wii would be for you then. Even though it wasnt made by Konami in Japan, it seems to be a much better game than some of its predecessors. Check some reviews (i just watched the vid review at Gametrailers )
@Jerry4050 Homecoming fails to draw the player into the game. It moves from many locations quickly (like a bad dream...) a serious fail (compaired to the other titles)l. and like a bad dream you wish would end.....so I wished this game would end while playing it.

This Sh got alot of flack and to be honest i was weary when i bought it, but i wasn't disapointed

not as magical as 1-3 but still have my ps2 copy and love it

My mom got this game for me when I was 12. When it came out. Scared the crap out of me! And now I'm 18 and I can't watch the trailer alone. It brings back memories! Awesome game!!!

I bought this game when I first bought my old PS2. I liked the looks of it from the cover, but had NO idea what I was in for at all. I love survival horror games & this one takes the cake. When I first saw the trailer before the game started, though...I was just stunned. I just remember thinking - Holy shit. I have to play THAT?!

From SH1 to SH4, I prefer SH4 as the scariest 'cause you got chased by real ghosts, unlike the others you're only facing imaginary monsters. I don't know, but I think I'm the only one fan who thinks this way.
SH2 is the second scariest, you know... because of pyramid head 'n all.

@boRalto i know what you mean sh4 is kinda hard to make sense of. well heres the story to you: theres this guy named walter...... he was a child that was really abused all the time. the parents sent him to an orphanage. but the orphanage had this cult and walter believed all of it. he grew up as a hobbo. and was still mistreated by many people (all of the victims except henry and eileen) spoilers

i also love this game, to me i think this game is really innovative. the only thing that found that sucks about this game is that you only hold up the ten items at a time, but that's about the only thing that i found that sucked

To me, the most annoying thing in any video game is just that, an inventory limit. Why can't the characters always have a portable hole handy, where they can store their tv's or their great knives or their huge spears without any hassle? Like in most Final Fantasy games. :P

This is quite possibly the most disturbing, eerie trailer I've ever seen to date. Unfortunately, this fourth Silent Hill part was not a fraction as harrowing, frightening as this trailer. It was actually the weakest of the franchise according to many fans.
On a side note, KONAMI did not have to emulate the Resident Evil series with Homecoming. But the character movement in Silent Hill must be more fluid, less stiff. Hopefully SH6 returns the series to greatness like the first three parts.

@Jerry4050 Homecoming fails to draw the player into the game. It moves from many locations quickly (like a bad dream...) a serious fail (compaired to the other titles)l. and like a bad dream you wish would end.....so I wished this game would end while playing it.
