I think this is a great! song. As a matter of fact I have a song in the studio right now that will be out soon and has this same old school flavor. When people hear it, it will take them back. I grew up listening to this same type stuff: Ohio Players, Earth, Wind and Fire, B.T. Express and Mandrill just to name a few.
This song has a broad appeal. If you play it for a Funk,Jazz or Classical music fan they'll like it. It has all those styles and more in it. What I like most about this jam is that you can get up and dance to it and also just sit back a chill to it and just think. This song sounds even better at night while driving. It has the right vibe for night driving.
I used to wear a slim-fit, cream bowling shirt with 2 black pleats at the back.... hustling back & forth across the floor. Man oh man !
A classic.... luv it. And BT Express "Express" ..... "South African Man".... "Cocomotion" .... "Trinidad" .... "Devil's Gun" .... "You + Me" .... "Six Million Steps" .... "I Love N Y" .... "Delerium" .... "Do What You Wanna Do".
Senior year in school late '74 jammin' into early '75 rockin' the city of Cleveland during a carefree age (17), losing our minds and having a good time.
My mother had this on a original 7". But she lost or can't find most of her 1970's funk and soul albums and single vinyls. I got a feeling my dad took them after they split up.
Louis Risbrook was the bassist on this one. Today's cats cant jam like this.I sure wish we had music like this today.True musicianship. These guys can play jazz as well as funk.I grew up with bands like BT express
I have a better question: Can groups arrange and play like this today? I think another reason why you do not see bands like this is because of cost. It is almost like a mini orchestra on this cut. WOW!!
Can anybody name a Black band that came out in the last 10 years
Like the Ohio Players.Kool &the Gang,Slave, BT Express,Midnight Star,Earth, Wind & Fire,Gap Band,Lakeside,Isley Brothers,Brother Johnson,Chic,Change,New Birth ,L.T.D.,Commodores,Brainstorm,Ready for the World,Mandrill it's going to be real hard
Not singing groups BANDs that sing Don't hurt yourself thinking about it
However, this is not a black or white thing. It is a "douche" thing; the douches have taken over. Most music out now just sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, and sucks. Talent was no longer welcome on the radio many years ago.
@Raughwe you need to hear the new rapheal sadiqq or the new new edition or kings go forth or the pendletons or soul steppers or gizelle smith and many other things besides before you music out now sucks
Brigs bak so many memories... Royalty Southgate / Birds Nest Muswell Hill / Manor House. Used to shuffle & hustle to this one.... I still remember what I used to wear too.... 2.18 is where it really went wild on the floor. briliant.
I think that this was a much bigger hit in the clubs than Do It Till Your Satisfied...both great songs though. This song is soooooo driving. This to me exemplifies the early days of disco.
keyboardist in the band from 19761979, later went solo and recorded under the name Kashif; he had several R&B hits in the 1980s.
B.T. Express were signed in 1974 by internationally known pop artist and music industry veteran Sid Maurer, promotion man Fred Frank, who were launching their new record The first record they released was their #2 Billboard 1974 "Do It ('Til You're Satisfied)" (which also hit #1 , as well as its follow-up, "Express", (Hot 100 #4). "Express", written by Jeff Lane
Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, this was the jam back in the day. The brass section was too damn tough. As old as this song is, and after ALL these years, this song still gets my heart rate pumping. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrre Comes the Express! Super upload!

This is an AWESOME song. I remember hearing it on the car radio back in the 70s when I was a little kid. Loved it then, too.

Great Instrumental song for driving on the by-pass near THE GRAND STRAND. If you drive to the beat of the EXPRESS you can catch all green lights.
