@kaarl52 look at the "Training grappling and power striking for street defence" for a better idea of what I would call tactical, the bit at the end in the suit (even though ive got gloves on) there a link on the info at the top
@baldymonster88 on the clip I'm just giving my impression of how I see the fitzsimmons punch(as explained in the book do or die),I'm focusing on power and just playing around really,so its not really a self defence clip,if you look at some of the other clips you will see me throwing shots with my feet planted etc. with some less exaggerated shots but I still follow through, rather than pulling the hand straight back.
I am not saying that some force cant be generated like this, just that the movement and untidy hands would concern me. I would never want to feel that i had to step through to create maximum power either tbh. I want to be planted and able to fire high impact that recoils back to be fired again asap. In a tear up that first contact is nearly always messy and requires multple shots to dominate and put your attacker away. A lined up sucker punch or with a less perceptive attacker, perhaps.
@baldymonster88 this clip is just my take on what the fitzsimmonds punch looked like, focusing on power,Dennis's style is similar but this isnt a tactical clip,I think you misunderstand the type of impact and the way it lands
part three of Dennis's Jones seminar clip has a good explaination
I dont see how this is a worthwhile risk, in the street at least anyway. Your risking balance and not being able to deploy a full power accurate punch again if need be. There are too many variables in the street to be stepping through/pushing through the target like that for it to be worth that sort of commitment. As a sucker punch maybe but not something i would risk. Not having a go btw.
Im sorry but I just don't see that as being a worthwhile approach.Your sacrificing balance and being able to use the hand again as fast as possible if need be. If you push through a target like that then what happens if that target moves back 2 inches as you throw the punch? In the street there are so many variables I just can't see why you would do this?I want the strike to smash the target and be recoiled ready to go again. Not having a go I'm just far from agreeing on this method.
@baldymonster88 it hard to tell on bob but when im striking,im striking in not across and stepping in to avoid the problem with the flinch reaction and the target moving back,I actually think this increases the chances of landing a good strike the hand tends to bounce off the target but theres no pushing involved youre only up the road perhaps we could get together for a chat,I can show you what I mean much better in person,Ive still got your number ill give you a bell tomorrow mate
@baldymonster88 Hi chris,,fitzsimmons was known for his power, following through the strike allows me to get more power into the strike, rathar than just the snap(and returning the hand) its the snap but with follow through and also allows for more power when returning the the opposite arm, this is similar to the way Dennis Jones punches.

@kaarl52. Ok i see mate, sort of. ;) Personally i would never want my feet that close together especially after throwing such a commited punch.
What do you mean by "follow through?"

@baldymonster88 Why didn't you use a real model with a fairly thick midsection? It would have been the greatest show on youtube!

@kaarl52 ps. I noticed Rocky Marciano has a similar style of following through with the strike

Mate, wouldn't you be better getting that left hand back to go again as fast as possible?
