Can you help me, why is my time capsule will not turn on when I'm using? .. LED lights will not turn on and it does not work

I've tried to dismantle it before seeing this video and finally I took the HDD as an external HDD on my PC :)

my time capsule just shit the bed (4 years old, power supply died) and the bloke at the local authorized repair shop told me they didn't know how to get into it and that they might have to 'break it open'. took me 10 seconds to find this video and see what I need to do. thanks..

Time Machines have a very high fail rate from what I've heard. If I had to guess, I'd say it's due to lack of ventilation. Apple really needs to rectify this.

Not 100% sure but this video seems to lack the advice that the rubberish cover has a strong glue that might be re-usable, it happens to be too glued YOU HAVE to warm it up a bit... a hair dryer will do it...

Worse bit of money I've ever spent. Tried opening mine after just 13 months of operation, and ruined the rubber backing, tore it to shreads trying to get it off. Never again! I'd rather use a external SATA Firewire connector with a seperate router.

Technically your not supposed to ever open the device, thats why it voids your warranty.

Hundreds if not thousands of Time capsules are dying after roughly 14 to 18 months of operation because of the high internal heat. Just Google "Time Capsule problem". Apple is ignoring the problem. Mine died last Saturday.

The reason for the ES drive is as u mention, the heat. The ES drives are 24/7-drives ment for servers and such, and can take much more heat and is a lot more durable than normal drives.

both of the broken drives i have are hitatchi in my apple products, have you swapped the time capsule drive out and did you need to reinstall any firmware onto the new drive..?

I googled your problem and it seems that time capsule takes care of formatting and installing firmware. Google "Replacing time capsule hard drive" and you'll see a pretty good explanation/tutorial. Hope that helps!
