i'm a mobile mechanic. Just recently a lady called me to check her Lexus out because it was shaking a lot when braking and making weird sounds and the brakes just didnt feel right she said. She said she had her friend who said "i know what im doing" change the brakes on it, so first thing i went after were the brakes and oh behold he put a Brake Rotor on her car that was 2 INCHES smaller than the stock rotor and only half the pad was in tact with the rotor. What a good friend..
I screwed up a refrigerator beyond repair once. The technician said some words I never heard before :) Cars I am super scared to mess with, I wanted to clean my throttle body once but after loosening two screws I chickened out.
I have seen too many so-called mechanics surfacing the cylinder head and block with a dremel or air grinder. I just don't bother anymore, some people will never stop paying for their mistakes
This reminds me of one of the first places I worked at. Guy comes in with a shot water pump on a Subaru; got an estimate but couldn't afford it. He begged the manager to let him fix it himself in our gravel lot. Boss finally gave in. Then the car just sat there for a couple weeks. I paid it very little mind until one day I received a work order to "install water pump" on this Subaru. Owner had removed the pump & given up. Bolts , brackets, belts laying everywhere. Never again.
wow your agood person, where are you located i want you to look at my 2000 chevrolet cavalier, charge me what ever i know you take care of your customers
@FromThe3PointLine My shop is in Cincinnati OH but to be honest I don't do all that much customer work anymore as I'm focusing on making more videos. Feel free to look me up on my forum anytime and I'll do what I can to help with your automotive issues. Thanks for the comment.
@FromThe3PointLine My shop is in Cincinnati OH, I don't do too much 'customer' work anymore however as I spend most of my time making ETCG videos and answering questions. Thanks for the comment.
@ETCG1 Thank you for your advice! I did that for a few months, and it worked for a while.
I also used a poison bait tray in the engine compartment. One day the mice came and ate the poison, despite having 2 socks with moth balls in there. (They stank too!) So the next day I put 2 trays - cleaned out. Then 3 - but only 2 were cleaned out. Lucky me they didn't chew the wires (perhaps they got sick!)
I gave up on moth balls but I swear by poison bait trays - plenty to fill them up!
@ETCG1 They are effective, though, when very pungent right out of the box, and if many are used but I had to use asthma inhaler after stuffing them in socks and putting them in the car that day.
The spare fridge is in the garage, and unfortunately, some old food in the freezer (but not fridge) compartment tasted of moth balls :(
So keep them FAR away from food - definitely in another room, seal them in several airtight bags when not in use, and wear a mask if you have allergies/asthma.
...So I sent the refurb back for an exchange and got it - now my car runs great. Dunno if the mice or I screwed up the fuel injector #3 circuit. They or I could have fried it with electrostatic discharge. But til this happened I never was all that careful when soldering, forgetting all the good things to do: disconnect the battery, disconnect the harness from the ECM, discharge myself (or maybe even wear the grounding strap I use when working inside PCs). It makes me feel better...
I may or may not have been an idiot about recovering from mouse damage. They cut the wires to fuel injectors #2 and #3. I soldered, only to restore #2. I replaced the fuel injector to #3 and also checked the wiring harness for continuity. Finally had to replace the ECM. Bought a cheap refurb from eBay. Voltage regulator was bad. Thankfully I bought the ECM through eBay/PayPal cuz they pull through for duped customers - that probably keeps this company in line at least with eBay customers...
@bige1083 In the future you want to avoid buying electronic parts especially used electronic parts online as many times the people selling them don't know their condition. Good luck and thanks for the comment.
@zachary3625 I see where you're coming from but the truth is this car was owned by a used car salesman that took it to a 'bargain' place that didn't do a very good job, he came to me to get it fixed right.
Hmmm..... I have a mild headache.... I guess I just need to perform open heart surgery on myself!. I'm automotively trained and I still cringe at the idea of replacing a head gasket....how do people like this make it through life?
and I bet the person was baffled when you told him how badly he jacked up his engine on this DIY endeavor. Nine times out of ten, in my part of the country there is a huge import tuner crowd, and they bring in crippled hondas and toyotas with botched cylinder head work, and CANNOT BELEIVEEEE they caused it.
@curtmastor HE didn't do it someone else did then he brought it to me. I did the best I could with it but it certainly made things more difficult. Thanks for the comment.
ya controls spark knock i hade to replace myn i got a new motor and i was dressing it from everything of my preveous motor and snapped the plug hade to get a bran new one after market $178.61 oem honda $326.98 nedless to say i went after market but im proud to say its runnging great and there are no holes in my pistons ahaha
@racepak Actually I was never able to find the root cause but the switch AND the ECU were fine, I even checked the wiring but still couldn't figure it out, the guy ended up selling the car before I got the chance to find out the true cause.
there are certain things i can do, and things i cant do. i watch many videos before a job i do. even if its a easy job i will watch videos,to make sure there are no surprizes.you know how that goes.
this is so true, it happens alot. we have had cars at out dealership come in on a hook and the customer hads us a bag or a box of stuff. under the hood is mess or the dash, etc, and we have to fix it. and lots of times we can't charge extra, because by someone higher up they say it is warranty. figure that one out. in my opinion it shouldn't be.
ing the cooling system couldn't get any flow. Thought maybe he had the stat in backwards, so checked and it was fine. Then thought water pump fins worn out, so pulled the pump and heard a clunk when I pulled the pump off. Thought it was the impeller, but it wasn't. The kid had put the "NEW" thermostat behind the water pump litterally a round peg in a square hole. Don't ask me how he got it back on and to seal. He cost the girlfriends dad a lotta money.
@TheKardakar That is one crazy story but I'm not surprised as I've seen people do some pretty goofy stuff in an effort to 'repair' their vehicles. Thanks for the story and for your input.
Love what I have seen from you so far man. I run a independant shop in MN and I love your attitude and share many opions. Had a similar issue back when I was still working for a dealer here. A kid had tried to fix his girlfriends car (owned by her father) late 80's cavalier with a 2.2. Complaint no heat, said he changed his own stat still no heat. Went out and started the car, immediate missfire and white smoke. Figured headgasket and possible head. Fixed the head gasket, and when bleed-
@foreighnimport91 Your enthusiasm is admirable but the truth is we all have limitations, the trick is to know them and work within or around them, in your case it seems to be your 'friends'. Thanks for your comment.
as my dad would say, cars that had been bullied with (messed) he'd get vehicles like that too to fix as well when people dont know what they are doing..
At one time I took in my 1999 Olds Intrique to a local GM professional . When I was walking around out side I noted that he was changing the wrong front wheel bearing, we actually got into a bit of an argument over it. He told me," I know which bearing to change". I called the manager and he instructed the professional that he was indeed working on the wrong bearing. After this professional finished . I had to redo the wiring job.
@ventureelect That's a shame really but to be honest it's not an uncommon occurrence, between the flat rate system and the 'disconnect' between technician and customer in a dealership setting you sometimes run into a situation like you describe. Thanks for your comment.
@ETCG1 You think you can make a video about giving more advice to other people concerning fixing their car by themselves? Telling us if we do something, these are the consequences. I think it's a good idea so people have an idea of what they'll get themselves into before tackling car problems by themselves with less experience
Just bill the time it takes. Then you don't have to get emotional about it. Explain the conditions and where you're at up front. If it's harder bill it for harder.
@briansmobile1 Oh I don't get emotional about it I just charge the upfront fee and get to work, I'm not one to turn away business I just wanted to warn others before they got in over their heads. Nice to see you in the comments man, thanks for taking the time to watch.
Hahaha...I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune...no wait I do :P. I knew a custom fabricator for firearms (he passed away) that had a sign that read
Shop price $45/hr
If you want to watch $75/hr
If you already tried to fix it $125/hr
and you want to watch $150/hr
My local mechanic told me to ask him anything I want at any time before I do anything to my car. Asking questions are free...ignorance can be might pricey.
Previously working at a BMW specialist. We got a visit from a customer who had an E92 320d. In the UK they are notorious for premature failure of their turbos. This job was left to an amateur mechanic who replaced the turbo, not much else. and the car wouldn't start. The job given to my boss; A very new BMW with a new turbo, oil in the intercooler, piping, exhaust; ECU going crazy, the list goes on. Regardless of the cost, its a nightmare for a technician to take on another's disaster...
No matter how nice and clean inside out this car is, it has over 200k miles. This means the engine was on its way out.
I would either redo the headgasket and every other gasket I can (water pump, thermostat housing, valve cover, oil pan, transmission pan ...etc) if I don't have the money to get a complete rebuild, or I would just sell it and get something else with less miles because 200k miles is too much. Certainly next car won't be a Honda lol.
@HussamStands I might disagree with you on this as I've had Hondas with 350K that ran just fine, it all depends on how you take care of it. Thanks for the comment.
@ETCG1 Yes, u see some cars like that here and there, but it's not like most Hondas can go 350k miles. My brother in law has 96 Honda Civic with 145k miles, and it goes to the shop almost everyday lol. On the other hand, I have a friend who has 98 Dodge Neon with 300k miles on it and runs like champ. last month she went to FL to bring the rest of her stuff and she towed uHaul trailer behind that little Neon all the way from FL to VA. I know Civic beats Neon, but it's how u maintain it.
But seriously, anybody who is learning will make mistakes, and learning is good. You can't do automechanics without occasionally crossthreading a bolt, breaking a plastic connector, or finding a rusted bolt. Stuff happens. So, the challenge is to drop enough metaphorical petals to retrace steps, so that you can put the engine back together enough to take for an outside opinion. I envy the guys who work in a large enough shop to get advice in house.
is that gree thing a knock sencor??? if so can u give me the name of that motor like j whatever it will fit my car and iv been looking everywere for a fucking sencor!!!! thank you eric dude id appreseate it
I worked for nearly 10 years as a projectionist, running various kinds of 35mm projectors. I'm fairly good at troubleshooting issues, mechanical or electrical. But I know to leave serious issues to my tech, if it doesn't kill you, you might have just destroyed something extremely expensive. Love the videos!
My trusted mechanic always say that. "don't touch anything if you didn't learn that before." Recently i got problem on my car and i had some ideas on what it could be (one time the coil pack crapped itself, then the brake pads were gone (after 7 year) but i didn't even think about putting my hand on the car. I just removed the wheels to see that the front pads were gone, but other than cleaning an air filter or the throttle body (quite easy on my Clio) i wouldn't do things i'm not capable.
I used to have a car like that, nice car but I 'm sure fixing it was a pain, Kinda like remodeling a house or room in the house I guess, much easier to tear it out to the floor & start all over.
@s0uthernchik Actually I'm pretty good with Honda's and for the most part they don't give me much trouble but when someone else goes in a messes things up before I get there it makes my work that much harder. Thanks for the comment.
I know it was inappropriate, but I couldn't help but laugh as you kept checking off the issues you had to address. I'm no mechanic by any stretch, but this is just such a lack of ... anything resembling logical thought... that it's almost unbelievable. My jaw is still sore from hitting the floor. I'm wondering if you didn't stick him in the trunk before you started shooting! lol
I hope you charged enough to make it worth your while. Once some one else has worked on it and failed you will come back with parts missing, and assembled parts at wrong places.
@Samsgarden I was a bit put out when I made this video if I'm honest and I DO charge more when something like this comes in, in fact I let them know that up front, that way I can keep my sanity at least. Thanks for the comment.
I feel you on this one, if you cant do it right don't do it at all! had this happen with my car, the guy pieced it together and i've been fixing electrical and engine problems since.
Ha ha ha. I have to admit; most of what I know of auto mechanics is from taking my own car apart and putting it back together and I got in over my head a few times. But I was always too ashamed to bring it to someone, so I figured it out... but I've been taking things apart and putting them back together since I was 4.
@DrJerryrigger Me too. Perhaps you should get some schooling under your belt and make it official as you should like you would make a great technician.
I let my customers know right off the bat when they bring me a basket case that it will be x amount of dollars to redo what they've done on top of diag and repairs. 9 times out of 10 the cust is ok with it
lol, you look hot and irritated on that video. Alot of the knowledge I have gained from cars are by reading first and asking questions, many people think working on a car is easy, little do they know if you have zero experience you will make something simple a complicated mess.
In any case Eric I would like too see an episode on dragging brakes and btw STAY DIRTY!
You are totally down to earth man. I love how family and friends of friends try to pass shit off as "it just happened", never going to tell you how they messed up, and lash at you for any reasons they can find. I think I'll take up your offer on charging them 100 bucks just to look at it lol.
been there man i hate it when i have to fix cars that some other ''mechanic'' tried to fix and they leave them worse hahahaha but as you said we have to charge more
Well said !!! .... this is across industries... I work in computers and networks, but am enjoying learning cars thanks to mechanics like you. Keep it up, and stay dirty. I feel ya on this one.
@layintrax Yea it's easy for people to make assumptions and get in over their heads trying to save a few bucks, it almost always ends up costing them in the end. Thanks for the comment.
@layintrax Yea it's easy for people to make assumptions and get in over their heads trying to save a few bucks, it almost always ends up costing them in the end. Thanks for the comment.
You Kno I Dont See Good Mechanics Now A Days Like You Said In Your First Video Karma Will Come To You But Your Just Like My Dad Honesty Is Everything Nd Itll Make You Look Great Thanks For These Videos (:
@juancarlosspartan Honesty is always the best policy in this business, if your not up front with your customers and employers it will come back to you in the end.
I couldn't figure out why my friends car was running like shit.... then after I pulled the head off I noticed it was running two intake cams HAHAHAHAHA.
Preach on, Brother! you can add to that "dont bring me your vehicle when it is on "e" and tell me it has a problem that has to be driven to diagnose...That is one of my biggest pet peeves about this industry...
What a nightmare. I'm thankful that I am the kind of guy that can happily admit when I am in too deep and know what to try and not to try. Damn that sucks.
@ncarter124 I try to be the same way but you'll never know what your limits are until you test them. Caution is usually the best policy with auto repair however as you could end up stranded or worse hurt in some cases. Thanks for the comment.
A Question, If there is an issue with an engine, could you do a video to choose the best technician that will give you a fair shake. I don't mind putting this into the hands of a shop but after being screw a few times, it raises a caution flag. Loved the video.
@QuietstormRising That sounds like a good video to make for sure but until then here are a few tips that I can think of. The best way to find a good shop is to ask around and these days with the internet it's pretty easy to find a bad review of a place with just a google search, word of mouth is a very good way to find a shop. You can also check with the BBB to see if the shop you are considering is in good standing. And lastly if you don't trust the person your talking to go elsewhere.
This was cracking me up all the way through. I wish that everyone had to watch this video at some point. I'm not a professional tech, I just build and restore hot rods in my spare time. I do, however, get called upon to repair the cars of friends and family at times. The absolute worst jobs are definitely when they dig into it and get stuck at a point where they can't get any further .......then they bring it to me. I've had some real nightmares with wiring on more than one occasion. Great vid!
@RamblinAround Yes, you should take all their money for handing you their problem. I plan on working long and hard at making repair videos that I HOPE will dispel some of the ignorance but I fear I may be fighting a loosing battle in some cases.
My brother. I must say I run a small but very busy repair shop. We have a great reputation and have been in busness since 1977. We are fair and honest and pride ourselfs on that. My role in that shop is to sell the work and make sure that work is done properly. But I have turned basket cases like that away before. I refuse to have any of my guys even look at something like that just for the mere fact how are you gonna tell someone you owe me three hours in diagnostics alone
@old66impala I'm with you 100%. I handle it in 2 ways most times depending on my initial assessment, I either charge more right out of the gate or I turn it away as you would, it just depends on the customer and the situation. Thanks for your comment it's always good to hear from fellow professionals.
Ummm....the car owner worked in a garage, or a garage gave a customer back a busted car and a box of parts? Either way, good lord. Thank god I have a friend that is a pro (I keep his beer fridge full) to turn to, and a couple tool truck guys willing to give a stranger that weekly payment option (I keep their Benz payments current, lol). Thank you for the videos and it really wasn't that preachy. I'd call it restating the obvious. We all need that from time to time. Stay dirty!
I agree ,if you dont think you can handle it dont try to fix it..And if you fail and bring it to a repair place be honest with them of what you did or tryed to do. Some people will not admit they cannot fix something and rather play dumb when approaching a mechanic, swollow your pride and be honest.....
Wow. That's the kinda stuff that really fasinates me. I remember about 1989 I went to the Los Angeles Auto show and I do belive the Japanese were inroducing they're so called luxry brands such as Lexus, Infinity. & Acura. Btw did you knoe that about 95% are mis-pronouncing the Acura name? The name is said with a roll of the tounge.
One thing I was curious about the Acura line and what Honda platform thayre based on? Such as Mercury Grand Marq is built on Ford Crown Vic or the Lexus IS-250 looks strikingly like the Toyota Corolla from the rear. But I don't think Acura manuracures the Legond any more just like Honda doesn't make other great models anymore such as the Del Sol & the Prelude.
@Michiganborn1969 Acura only exists in north america, everywhere else in the world they are known as Honda's even the top of the line models. They did this because they knew americans would not pay that kind of money for a Honda. Most Acura engines say Honda right on the valve cover. In short, they are all Honda's, in fact the Acura TSX is really a European Accord.
Darn people that dont know about cars dont need to touch it! just like u said. if they were smart they would have started with the most smallest things first! thats were people make the biggest mistakes be cause they think the know it all and dont need to check the simple things and just need to jump right in and try to fix it ! so people that dont know about care take it to a professional and your life will be a whole lot simpler . Sorry if i quoted you (ETCG1)
The way you rolled your eyes after saying "I went to start it, and it wouldn't start" made me laugh.
It's like your were thinking, when do the problems end?
I am definitely guilty of taking broken things to a professional, however it has become more of a rare occurence over time.
I agree with how you implied, learn from the people that built the machine how to repair the problem, or at least put honest effort into research before diving into any unfamiliar situation.
I was about to cry when I heard they took a die grinder to a machined cylinder head. At least the head is small and removable. They could have taken it to the block.
Hopefully your machinist was able to true it up. I bet they had a laugh or two looking at it though.
I think they should have stopped after their first oil change. If you can't unscrew a filter and make sure the old gasket is on there. You have no business going deeper.
@Bushougoma They probably did take it to the block. I'm not going to mess with taking the head off unless I have reason to however. Sad, it really is a nice car otherwise.
That would be great! Perhaps the car dealer that broght you that 2000 Acura will cut you a great deal and/or barter for your services. Maybe just maybe if you give the dealer a plug in your video they will cut you a hella great deal. Also I heard on the news that YT will start allowing downloads UPTO 15 minutes, but I you already got that beat lol.
@readymade7777 I'm less frustrated when the car is fixed and I have a little extra cheese for my efforts. This dirty rat will live to eat another day as a result of the stupidity of others, not so bad really. Thanks for watching as always.
Eric, I like the video. I hate when people take a good car and tear into it. Why not spend the hour or two more to diagnose the problem and possibly save money and time (Which we all know is money!)
I had a SVS light on my '03 Grand Am, Scanned for codes, was an oil pressure sending code (I have an A/M sender so this is impossible). I was going to the extremes of thinking I had a bad PCM/BCM.
Guess what, the fuse for my reverse lights was blown. 10 cents. Fixed.
.... and don't forget to stay dirty. Hey, good call. I always want to get in over my head, but always consult a professional before trying stuff. R E S P E C T
@Hybrid5665 The fact that you are aware when you are over your head sets you apart, it's those that go running in to that dark room without a flashlight that get into trouble. Thanks for your comment.
Hey Eric. This is such a common thing and pervades into so many fields. I used to work as an electronic repair tech. Don't even get me started on some of the botched jobs I saw. Now I work in IT. As @IIGrayfoxII said earlier, its endemic in this field also. Ignorance is bliss eh? Do like I did and still do, don't take the repair. Tell 'em to stick it. The money is not worth the pain. And boy, you seem to be feeling it here!
@Mulletsrokkify It was a long hot day at the shop but I really wasn't stressed about fixing that car since I pretty much know them like the back of my hand. Personally I just charge more and don't make excuses for it, in fact I tell them up front it will cost more and if they don't accept those terms I let them go without a fight. I suppose I'm a business man at heart when it comes to paying my rent. Thanks for your comment.
That would lead to a great idea for a future video. Titled "What to look for when buying a used car". There's been lot of times where I wish I could have instantly had a profesional mechanic on hand every time I went used car/truck shopping.
@Michiganborn1969 I've had more than one request for that one and I will be doing it at some point in the future. In fact I'm thinking about getting a car myself soon, perhaps I'll do the video on that one when I get some cash together.
I'm would feel bad for the sorry sap that would purchace this car from a wanna be mechanic. Websites such as Carfax (such a joke) will not show that there was extensive repairs done on this car wheather it was done by a pro or performed by a monkey and a wrench. Yikes.
@Michiganborn1969 Carfax only works for things that were 'reported', if it's not reported then your out of luck. I think the best investment when purchasing a used car is to have it looked over by a professional tech, preferably an expert on the model that you are buying to get a clear idea of what you are getting into.
Hey eric, im from australia and i recently found your videos and have been hooked ever since, you come across as a very likeable character with very instructive, helpful and straight to the point videos, I am about to start as a 1st year automotive apprentice and i refer to your videos when ever im not to sure about something, keep up the great work and remember stay dirty
@Svec98 First, I love international comments, coolest thing about the internet in my opinion. Second, it's great to get such positive comments about my work so thank you for that as well. And lastly the world needs more good technicians so best of luck to you with that and if I can help just let me know.
@IIGrayfoxII The excuse I often get is "my spouse did it", doesn't matter which one I'm talking to it is usually the "others" fault. It's nice to know that the mechanical profession is not the only one that has to deal with this. And yes, I do make sure I get paid for extra effort like this.
When a person comes through our door with a box with something in it, I don't even look at it before I tell them the hourly rate is double. I HATE when people but there kid a new quid or dirt bit and say "yeah I can out that together and it shows up in a box...such a pain Or the old guys who take there cat's apart and then call you and you just have parts and peaces all over the ground and everywhere....GREAT 52 fastener pick up! Best of luck eric.
i'm a mobile mechanic. Just recently a lady called me to check her Lexus out because it was shaking a lot when braking and making weird sounds and the brakes just didnt feel right she said. @bige1083 Try putting some moth balls in your engine compartment and glovebox, the mice don't like the ammonia and stay away.

@ETCG1 You think you can make a video about giving more advice to other people concerning fixing their car by themselves? Telling us if we do something, these are the consequences. I think it's a good idea so people have an idea of what they'll get themselves into before tackling car problems by themselves with less experience
pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR 3 months ago
Just bill the time it takes. Then you don't have to get emotional about it. Explain the conditions and where you're at up front. If it's harder bill it for harder.
Shop price $45/hr
If you want to watch $75/hr
If you already tried to fix it $125/hr
and you want to watch $150/hr
GOOD COUNSEL.

This is you like usual with another Honda.
HussamStands 4 months ago
@HussamStands I might disagree with you on this as I've had Hondas with 350K that ran just fine, it all depends on how you take care of it. Thanks for the comment.
ETCG1 4 months ago
@ETCG1 Yes, u see some cars like that here and there, but it's not like most Hondas can go 350k miles. My brother in law has 96 Honda Civic with 145k miles, and it goes to the shop almost everyday lol. On the other hand, I have a friend who has 98 Dodge Neon with 300k miles on it and runs like champ. last month she went to FL to bring the rest of her stuff and she towed uHaul trailer behind that little Neon all the way from FL to VA. What a comical example, ha ha.

A Question, If there is an issue with an engine, could you do a video to choose the best technician that will give you a fair shake. I don't mind putting this into the hands of a shop but after being screw a few times, it raises a caution flag. Loved the video.
QuietstormRising 1 year ago
@QuietstormRising That sounds like a good video to make for sure but until then here are a few tips that I can think of. The best way to find a good shop is to ask around and these days with the internet it's pretty easy to find a bad review of a place with just a google search, word of mouth is a very good way to find a shop. You can also check with the BBB to see if the shop you are considering is in good standing. And lastly if you don't trust the person your talking to go elsewhere.

Michiganborn1969 1 year ago
@Michiganborn1969 If you heard some of the pronunciations I've heard you would laugh as well, the most popular, Akuura or Akra.
ETCG1 1 year ago
One thing I was curious about the Acura line and what Honda platform thayre based on? Such as Mercury Grand Marq is built on Ford Crown Vic or the Lexus IS-250 looks strikingly like the Toyota Corolla from the rear. But I don't think Acura manuracures the Legond any more just like Honda doesn't make other great models anymore such as the Del Sol & the Prelude.
Michiganborn1969 1 year ago
@Michiganborn1969 Acura only exists in north america, everywhere else in the world they are known as Honda's even the top of the line models. They did this because they knew americans would not pay that kind of money for a Honda. Most Acura engines say Honda right on the valve cover. In short, they are all Honda's, in fact the Acura TSX is really a European Accord.

I agree with how you implied, learn from the people that built the machine how to repair the problem, or at least put honest effort into research before diving into any unfamiliar situation.

Hopefully your machinist was able to true it up. I bet they had a laugh or two looking at it though.
I think they should have stopped after their first oil change. If you can't unscrew a filter and make sure the old gasket is on there. You have no business going deeper.

@Svec98 First, I love international comments, coolest thing about the internet in my opinion. Second, it's great to get such positive comments about my work so thank you for that as well. And lastly the world needs more good technicians so best of luck to you with that and if I can help just let me know.

i understand your pain, i am a computer technician & i see customers bring in computers that they screwed up with something they did to it,
when i tell them that what they did screwed the PC up, they quote one or two things
1: i did this to my other computers & their fine
2: a technician or friend told me to do this
i just want to charge these people with what i call an annoyance fee
IIGrayfoxII 1 year ago

@DieselCrawler86 I feel your pain. Alls well that ends well I suppose, I don't really have any issues with profiting from stupidity.
